Seriously dude, shut up. N-strike, do you have tourettes or something, I remember on MSN if I said ANYTHING the first thing you'll say is something along the lines of "Fuckity Fuckfuckfucker motherfucker fuckyou goddamn son of a bitch FUCKYOU FUCKYOU fucking fuckity shithead!". Remember that, I know you do. There was a reason I blocked you and temporarily banned you on FU.

I don't have tourettes, and I didn't say anything that long.

You're right, they were small two-word posts said in the above order.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. A good nerf gun is like a good woman. It shouldn't require extra lubrication.

It probably would be possible to make a homemade that shoots/flings them, but it would probably be useless. and a waste of time. Wounldn't it be "funner" to randomly throw stars at someone. They do look fun I might get a set.
I agree with Ubermensch one should be able to use them as a melee weapon.

P.s I know funner isn't a real word but you know what I mean.

Okay, I lied. I'll probably pick them up. Apperently I throw cards too hard (enough to brake skin) and I tested my homemade shuriken today, and it almost flew 20 feet, so nethier of my two options will fly (pun most definitely intended) in a war, organized or not. I'll have to order it online, as I don't want to spend 20$ on a set. I'll give you guys the URL when I find a reasonable priced set.

O.k., AM I the only one who's seen the episode of mythbusters where they tried to break skin with a card? a human just can't throw it at the velocity needed...So Penguin I call your bluff

Plus... This whole thread has gone to shit because of off topicy bullshit from Six-Five-Two, N-strike, and Now deaddumpster... You all suck.

On the topic of these freaking awesome foamy doom stars ... so far, the only way you can get them for the really cheap price is to buy them AT a target store, rather than online... they're still full price on the website.

Hey, I stopped arguing there. Deaddumpster was just trying to stop all of this.

Jacob, I highly doubt it would be possible to make some kind of gun out of this. Maybe with some motors and fly wheels but it would be really loud and inaccurate. The awesomeness scale will be off the charts though.

I've also seen that episode, bags.

On-topic: Great find. It seems a little bit impractical, but still fun to use. Imagine the montage moment to be had when you own someone via foamy-star labotomy. One question, though. Do the shuriken seem to deform after heavy use, or do they bounce back to their original shape every time? It would seem like the latter, but I can't tell by the pictures if they are crafted the way I think they are.

I've also seen that episode, and the way I remember it, the card could break skin, but couldn't penetrate far enough to do any actual harm.

Yay for nerfy ninja stars!

With this and the foam swords we might have a clan of Nerf Ninjas in the making.

Bags, you said they were difficult to throw accurately without practice, how much practice are we talking about here? When can we expect to see these in action? They look interesting.

They seem to go back to their original shape, but I haven't given them heavy use... November yano will be their first war, then we'll see if these things are really worth it.

Well, I don't really know how much, it seems sometimes you can throw one and hit somebody on your first try, and sometimes they just kinda jump up into the air... or slam into the ground, or they fly kinda weird, I found that you can bend the sides and it somewhat affects the filght pattern... but it's not perfect or exact in any way. I'll be unleashing these at November YANO, so I'll give an update in the recap of the war/

You're in the right thread.. Ninja stars are the shit... the morons who when off topic ARE shit... blah blah blah... big pics....I have an 8 megapixel camera so that means automatic big pics, even when photobucket shrinks them.

I actualy tried makeing something sort of like this a while back. Not Naruto theamed, just for the record.

Might I throw in my history knowladge here. I have done some research in the past into Shurikens of all types (yes there are more then one) and the stars have to be some of the more intresting of the Shurikens. There is considerable debate as to whether or not they were thrown one at a time or in fist fulls. I think it would be some where inbetween. Secondly there are two schools as to how they are thrown, apperently both historicaly justified, the first is that they are thrown horazantly the second is that they are thrown verticaly. (Which I might add is more accurate with practice according to what I have read.) Much like you throw a knife.

Apperently if you really want to hit a person you take as many as you can comfortably hold in one hand (between your thumb and first finger) and throw them in a horzantel manner. Gives a good spred and I would expec it is scarry as all get out to see flying at you. So bags you might want to try all of those manners of throwing and see what works best.

(P.S. - Sorry if I butcherd spelling in that I know I did but its late and I am sick.)

I mod nerf guns so they look good. So leave my scopes, doodads, and trinkets alone I like them. I don't mind the weight and I started out that way on toy guns and its not going to change.

I agree with Cmdrmack, a nerf ninja clan would dominate, and make for an interesting change in pace at a war. I have a couple of suggestions about nerf ninja rules at a war.

1) I think they shouldn't be able to wield guns. This is because ninjas are just too badass to use a gun to kill.

2) They should be able to block any incoming darts with any of their weapons (sword, massive shuriken). They are ninja's after all.

Z-man12, I bet you're thinking of a smaller type of shuriken, where these naruto ones are meant to be HUGE. I think they supposed to be like Mizuki's giant shuriken from the first episode! I don't think that these shuriken could be thrown multiple at a time, without lots of practice that is.

Yah, those things are pretty awesome. But if you made a Ninja Army, you would need B00m's gunblade, because it would be an cool weapon for a Ninja in a Nerf war.

Well, if you guys want to get into the history of shuriken, they aren't meant for throwing at people. They were supposed to be used as a distraction so that pursuers would hear a noise in a different direction and break away from the ninja's trail. There were only about two people in the world who could ever lethally throw shuriken. As for hitting someone, it is very possible to be accurate enough to throw one at a time. Most real shurikens thrown at a target, however, would only be enough to cause pain and discourage action.

But this thread isn't about real shuriken. It's about new badass foamy spinners of death. As far as those go, it seems like this might be a cool investment. They should be relatively easy to master as throwing weapons, being that they have more mass than cards or other alternatives. The only real threat is wind. Does the wind seem to severely affect these, bags? I would think that while they're spinning and horizontal, there is lattle that the wind can do to them, and that vise-versa is said for vertical. But I could be wrong, since I don't have one yet to test out. They might be lighter than I think...

The fact that you said that was really unneeded. I cringe when I see posts like that. Couldn't you atleast post about the shuriken at the same time?

Anyway, nobody answered my thought about using them as melee weapons in a war.

A ninja army would be awesome. Great find Bag

To SHA

Contrary to popular belief, (video games, Hollywood, etc.) shuriken were not intended as a killing weapon, but
rather as a secondary weapon that sometimes played a supportive role to a warrior's main weapon, usually the
sword or spear. Shuriken were primarily used to cause either nuisance or distraction, both being tactical
methods to gain advantage over the opponent in battle. Generally the target was the eyes, face, hands or the
feet.

They were also used, especially hira-shuriken, for a wide variety of other uses, such as being embedded in the
ground so as to cause pain to those who stepped on them, or having a fuse wrapped around the points of the
blade to be lit and thrown in order to cause fire, or to be used as a handheld striking weapon when used in
close quarters combat with an opponent. There are reports of shuriken being coated with poison, directed at
either the person the blade was being thrown at, or to whoever may pick them up when left lying around in
conspicuous places. Other reports indicate that shuriken may have been buried in dirt or animal feces and
allowed to rust and harbor the anaerobic bacterium Clostridium tetani; if the point penetrated a victim deep
enough it would impart the bacteria into the wound and cause a then-incurable deadly tetanus infection

Shuriken were a simple weapon, but their value was in the wide variety of applications they could be used for,
and the ready availability of material from which to fashion the weapon. Unlike katana and other such bladed
weapons, antique shuriken are usually not well preserved or sought after due to their status as throwaway
weapons.

After reading; Recruit's, SHA's and Z-man12's posts, I've come to the conclusion that these massive foamy shuriken would be a perfect accessory for LARP'ing. I like the idea of having giant foamy poison shuriken, not sure if I'd want to be known a shitty shuriken thrower though (cheesy pun completely intended!). I think that a shuriken wielding ninja should be able to use them as a melee weapon, as they'd only be really good for defensive (short ranged, yes short range melee exists) melee purposes.

On a side note, how many people are interested in a Nerf Ninja Clan?

An SSPB, maybe...

On-topic: Is there potential for a fragmentation weapon here? What if you took 1/2 PVC pipes and stuck them in the foam, running from opposite points to opposite points on the shuriken? Of course, you would cut them about 1" shorter than the length of the shuriken from point to point to ensure that nobody gets whacked by vinyl, but it allows for a new possibility. You can load the tubes with micros for a spread-damage effect to make up for their ease of evasion (face it, you can step aside from a giant foam disc and not be hit save for a miraculous curve). The added weight and frame may also help keep it stable in the air, even in wind.

Edit: Never mind. I realized that they are far too thin for this to work.

I think you're on to something there SHA. It might not be able to fit into a shuriken, but I definitely think a ninja weapon (that could spread micro's in that fashion) would be extremely useful!

The sad thing is, I saw that episode. You know when you're doing a speed run on Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and you finish the first level at 27 seconds, but you convince yourself that you could've done it in 22 seconds because you had a late start? It's kinda like that. I threw a card at my brother one day, and it left a scratch, but I didn't throw it as hard as I could, so we were both convinced that we could brake skin by throwing a card.

Semi on topic: A ninja clan would be cool, but I don't think pool noodles and foam frisbees shaped like shurikens would stand much of a chance to people that have nerf guns like Doomsayer.

Why you...Arrg!...FA24 worship...Oy...

How many times do I have to say it, Guns don't make the nerfer... if it did, then Pilz would have owned souls with his 4k... and well... let's just say he did far from that. actually, I'm sure anyone can think of an incident where someone who played poorly with an awesome blaster.

anyways, I don't get where the "Only Ninja weapons" thing really came from... but We're using these in war like they're a sidearm. just think of them as like having a NF that you can throw at people...or something. But they can trow them back. This has whole thread has gone dare I say "iWinish" in some ways... Look, we'll use them at November Yano, just the way I described in the first post, I'll try to shoot some vid... and then we'll go from there.

meh.

Sigh. My reliability and my un-noobiness have been questioned in the same thread, by the same person. This is probably going to be my last post in this topic. read post number 38, then read my post again and you'll see what I was getting at.

I resent the FA24 worshiping thing, he's an awesome modder, but I don't bow down at his feet. Doomsayer was just the first modded nerf gun that came to mind.
