As I often do when bored, I found myself trolling the toy aisles of my local Target, when I stumbled upon something a little different on the clearance rack:

Yes, that's right: GIANT FOAM THROWING WEAPONS OF DOOM!

I immediately bought a few sets, and was more than impressed with them, I figured they would just be fun for goofing off, but I quickly realized that I just may be able to make a case for using these little buggers for actual Nerf Gameplay purposes. One of the big reasons being that they're actually MADE to be thrown at people.


Those little nubs let them attach into a holster that straps on your back, and it auto-advances the next one, so realistically, you can only carry three at a time on you, this limits them being used in overkill fashion. And They're inaccurate as hell unless you practice with them a lot.

I showed them to falcon and we've agreed to use them in our wars under a few conditions:
*They don't fall under the "no picking up other people's guns" rule. Once thrown, they count as live ammunition. Once they hit the ground, they count as dead ammo that ANYONE can pick up and use.
*Catching them is only legal if you can "Ring-toss Catch" them, which means that you basically have to only touch the inner ring of them, just hard enough that if you do it, it's a-ok.
* You can Manta Block them just like any other form of ammo.
*if you wear a Naruto Headband, you can't use them... as that's going too far when not at an Anime convention...

I can see it now... someone out ranges you and has you cornered "I'm a Gonna Snipzorz Joo!" he shouts, when you fling these bad boys in defense, before he can react, it's too late: FOAMSHURIKENPWNAGE!

So, As you may have guessed, The Naruto Mega Strike Shuriken get:


I went back to my local target today, and they're now listed as 4.98, so go try to pick some up while you still can. I checked wall-mart, and they're selling them for full price, which is 20 bucks...they're not worth 20, 10 maybe, and 4.98, definitely.

So.... What do you guys think?

I wouldn't mind picking up some of those next weekend. I can just imagine the potential they hold. They look like they could be heavy enough to disarm someone if your skill in throwing is good enough. Or just hit em' in the crotch to temporarily disable them for a few rounds. But I doubt the range someone can throw can compare to a blaster, so its probably a fair weapon.

However they do seem quite large and easy to hit someone with, but I cant judge, I don't actually have any... yet.

Actually, they're rather light, but if you hit someone in the neck/head, it's gonna throw them off for a few seconds, and it's rather unnerving having something that is essentially a firsbee of doom flying at your head...

...That kinda misses the point... Usually, Homemade stuff period is banned at wars, particularly throwing weapons, but these have an uncanny loophole; they're manufactured for this kind of purpose... and they're made of Foam... which makes them very Nerfy...

I recommend using some manilla tag paper so it is a bit heavier.

Baghead, these things are probably not that effective in outdoor nerf wars, I think the wind will make it miss all the time. Indoor wars it would be pretty awesome though. Also, I will stop flaming n-strike from now on. I'll keep this on MSN.

They fly outside surprisingly well, but like I already stated, they're inaccurate as hell.

That's pretty interesting, I'm pretty proficient at throwing shurikens, so I'll give these a whirl. I guess I could write these into the rules of a HvZ game I want to get going, as a replacement for socks...& panties, NerfHaven panties.

I definitely think that I need a few sets of these! Doesn't matter how goofy the strap looks, the fact is you have 3 big ass shuriken on your back, and I bet that with a bit of practice you could get a little more accurate. I think the best part of these shuriken is the fact that there's no noise when you throw them, unlike when you shoot a nerf gun. Yay for a silent kill!

Back on topic: Those things look almost perfect for a war, a bit of practice and a throwing arm, then you'll be a killing machine in a war. I need to find me some of these, or maybe figure out if it's possible to make your own...
