thanks guys glad you like it,
so I was at home this weekend and some problem with my internet prevented me from posting replies, so I'm going to try and respond to several of you at the same time, and it's going to be a bit long
Very interesting. That check valve is very weird. I've never seen it used on any other blaster made by Hasbro. What do you use to make your diagrams?
indeed it is, I don't think I've ever seen it used on anything else ever. I actually use microsoft powerpoint for my diagrams then I copy them to MS paint and save them as image files, I actually became extremely familiar with powerpoint over 8 years ago and since then I've known powerpoint like the back of my hand, I've tried other legit drafting programs but I've never been able to make basic diagrams faster then I have with powerpoint and i do a lot of diagrams when i have to explain things on forums, after all nearly all my diagrams consist almost entirely out of rectangles
About the AR thing. I have found that if you remove the entire peg setup to where you see a black dot (it maybe a different color mine was just black) you will get alot more air to the dart but your going to want really loose darts in your barrel otherwise your going to here a loud pop when you fire and have a slit in your dart. Then again I was using stock darts though.
the black dot that you see should be black for all blasters because it's the rubber sealing face of the piston, and I don't think that Hasbro would bother with using different colored rubber
anyways that's pretty interesting, I never would have imagined that it would do that, I've cut off barrel on my secretstrike and I've seen the base where the rod connects but I don't see why the rod would create that much flow restriction,
however I have theory; perhaps the flow isn't that much greater but instead the rod dissipated the air across the base of the dart, so what you feel is a more focused pulse of air. (The performance of valves are typically based of speed and flow, since the secretstrike has such a small chamber volume and such a short barrel the performance must be strongly based on the valve's speed,) so the air rushing out of that hole at ludicris speed is going directly from the chamber into the hollow cavity of the dart, the rapidity of the pulse being applied directly into the even smaller space
inside the dart must the reason why this occurs. May I ask despite these powerful effects how much has the removal of the rod affected the range?
Very nice graphics. I hope you'll do some more. We have threads already going for internals photos and for "autopsy" photos of broken stuff, and a lot of those explanations could benefit from added drawings.
thanks I'd love to do some quick diagrams here and there, let me know if you can think of any particular designs that people have trouble understanding off the top of your head,
edit: actually I can't quite model the valves to be as close to the real thing as I did here unless I have access to the real thing, but with some help I think I could do diagrams for all the common Nerf valves and that should help others figure how their gun works and roughly where the parts are
