Works similar to my first breech, just with clips.

That is acryllic with an ID of CPVC's OD (5/8),

The epoxy putty is so the 'bridge' doesn't crack.

#289975 Guide To Barrel Material

Posted by Ozymandias on 04 December 2010 - 12:13 AM in Modifications

For streamlines, use CPVC. Consider this: you need 12ft. of barrel material to make a Doomsayer. Brass is not cheap.

If you have a drill, ream out the back 2.5in. of each barrel.

Popatachi (sp?) made a CPVC Doomsayer. Search for it.

This post has some errors. Under 'Nerf' where it says elimenator, the picture is of reflex internals

That is because the reflex used to be known as the eliminator.

#322938 Vote for NH's Next Avatar Pack

Posted by Ozymandias on 23 October 2012 - 02:31 PM in Off Topic

Although if you want to vote, you have to pick at least one from each grouping.

Question: since there are 27 options up there, could we have 9 per grouping with a 'None of the above option' in each one if we don't have a preference in that group? Or is that too overly complicated?

#317083 First annual Parabolic Toys contest!

Posted by Ozymandias on 16 June 2012 - 08:57 PM in Homemades

Probably the third category, though to be honest I don't see how you could do both in one mechanism.

A PulseStrike-esqe homemade, maybe.

Is there a cut-off date for officially entering this contest? I probably will, I'd just like to have something functional and up to par before you or I go through the expense of shipping something.

#295620 Bs-12 Advanced Tactical Nerf Rifle

It's Christmas somewhere. If it wasn't before, it certainly is now.

I am particularly impressed by the ballistic info.

If you had to give an educated guess, what is the cost of materials for your final version?

Are you sticking around for awhile?

#327545 NDA Exclusive! New 2013 Nerf Mega Centurion

Posted by Ozymandias on 03 March 2013 - 02:36 PM in General Nerf

Also, can the front barrel come off? It looks like it might be detachable on the box...

I just about guarantee it.

The Recon, Longstrike, and Longshot all were packaged with the barrel off. It would take up wayyyy too much space if this thing was packaged 'complete'.

It should be fairly straight forward to convert this thing to micros. Hell, someone with a plastic printer could probably make conversion kits, as the Mega (Mongo?) Clip has a larger footprint then a micro clip.

Megas (and Mongos, to a lesser extent) can get comparative ranges, you just have to give them a bit of the ol' ultraviolence, droog.

A shift to homemade airguns is unlikely; ROF is too low.

#298282 Gumdrop heads

Posted by Ozymandias on 18 May 2011 - 07:41 PM in Darts and Barrels

I'm not sure which it is, but Sg and Oz Nerf sites both seem free of BBs, ball bearings, washers, etc. in their darts.

I suspect pain is a factor of surface area, so having a larger striking surface (i.e. slugs) will lower pain more than a spongier material. Perhaps we can just make a cylindrical 'head' that has no tapering at all, and see if that helps with the pain.

Custom Calibrated Foam Darts - Conversion Guide!
Custom Weighted Foam Darts - Tip Seal Guide!
Example of them being used: SGN R-Series Blaster - PAR55M Demo

Airsoft and similar toys are banned in Singapore and Australia. The less airsoft-y they can make darts, the better. Thus, no metal.

Moving the eraser bit back would provide more padding on the front; however, that would move the center of gravity back which would make the dart less accurate (I think).

#300243 The SNAP/Revolution

Posted by Ozymandias on 20 June 2011 - 04:28 PM in Homemades

To add to Zorn's comment, I attempted to make my +bow work with surgical (slingshot) tubing, and my 3/8 Nylon square rod bent at the notch. Of course, it is entirely plausible I just fucked up when cutting the notch in the first place. I probably made the cut too deep.

#300200 The SNAP/Revolution

#300292 The SNAP/Revolution

Ahtanie built a collapsible stock that might be useful here.

You're using different materials, but the basic design should still work.

#300026 Another Recon Mod

Posted by Ozymandias on 17 June 2011 - 01:44 PM in Modifications

Does the power increase make up for the added deadspace?

I tend to think so--an average of 65' flat from some fairly mild mods is pretty encouraging. I have more coming----which should really show how much the added deadspace affects the ranges------if at all. Many modders found that doing the "Straw" mod didnt help the Recons Range at all----so we will see.

I recall there was a thread a while back where I asked about dead space, and the conclusion we drew was that airflow is more important. This is why the straw mod does not increase ranges by much, if at all.

#294248 Angel Breech That Accepts Streamlines

Posted by Ozymandias on 09 February 2011 - 03:07 AM in Modifications

Ah, excellent.

SgNerf has this mod and this update, but your pics are a tad more useful and your measurements are in customary units (ie not metric).

Nevermind, reread your post.

So, I have 2 questons at the moment:

1) What material did you use for your shotgun grip/arms?

2) Have you had dart shredding issues with your breech?

On a similar note, if you haven't picked a name for this yet, might I suggest +shot?

It is definitely 2 wheels. I can't link you to it because of the rules, so Google 'Nitron Video' and you'll find it.

Also, what's with the funky 1.5" thinwall color?

Clearly he intends to bring sexy back.

More on topic, one thing I would suggest for your plunger rod is Langley's Suicide Trigger. It is similar to what you have here, except it can rotate and you don't have to carve wood.

This thing looks great, but where did you find avocado green thinwall?

Edit: Langley's Suicide Trigger was based on Carbon's Clothespin Trigger.

#299842 The Two (or Three) Hour Homemade

Posted by Ozymandias on 14 June 2011 - 02:19 AM in Homemades

Very nice.

Can we get a firing vid?

Also, where did you buy that check valve? I have never seen that sort of thing at Lowe's/Home Depot.

#299859 The Two (or Three) Hour Homemade

Posted by Ozymandias on 14 June 2011 - 02:24 PM in Homemades

Ozymandias -- I'll try and get a video up later today. I got the valve at Lowe's in the section with the ball valves (bottom shelf), in the same aisle as the rest of the fittings. Smaller hardware stores generally don't have them, I think because they are primarily a "contractor item." But I have seen them at Homie D's and larger Ace Hardware stores. McMaster has them as 46835K52, though beware of shipping costs.

Ah, thanks fir the info.

I guess you'll just need to keep adjusting and testing it until you get the right amount of valve opening to get the semi-auto function, the opening needs to be quite small to get the effect.

A suggestion: take the piece of SCH 40 PVC between the check valve and the ball valve, stick some 1/4in. tubing in there, and goop the space around it. That should do the trick, I think.

You might want to use a longer piece of pipe though, otherwise the smaller diameter would mean less volume per shot.

#302876 Nerf Bolo Rounds

Posted by Ozymandias on 05 August 2011 - 03:32 PM in General Nerf

Of course, you would also have to have a blaster that is firing two balls at once. (For example, bolo-balls wouldn't really work in a reactor, as it would likely turn the first shot into what would amount to a pop-gun, and the second shot would be drastically reduced in range and/or thrown of course by the now-dangling first shot.)

Solution: use 2 Reactors. It would look ridiculous, but that's kinda the point with this.

Come to think of it, use this mod, but keep the ball shooting attachments.

#302429 JSPB-The Mad Ghost

Posted by Ozymandias on 28 July 2011 - 02:59 AM in Homemades

I have to post the last year, our people here use my ARB (rifling) for a long time, it can improve the light-weight dart, I have a launch weight of only 1g of the dart can fly 25 meters, and will not fishtail

Posted Image

While you are here, I do have 2 questions about your darts, as discussed in this thread.

1. How accurate are these darts compared to normal stefans/darts?
2. How durable are these? In other words, has the tape ever come off during a war?

#302789 Nerf Bolo Rounds

Posted by Ozymandias on 04 August 2011 - 03:23 AM in General Nerf

You could weave several pieces of yarn together to make a thicker yarn-rope.

Oddly enough, the RADS-12 resembles a rope-making machine...

Or you could just use shoe strings.

#302436 JSPB-The Mad Ghost

Posted by Ozymandias on 28 July 2011 - 12:25 PM in Homemades

1. stefans high accuracy, very far, the only drawback is unsafe, will hurt,
JSPB Mega is safe, quick and easy made, the disadvantage is low accuracy, because the weight is close to the center,
using the ARB can improve accuracy beyond stefans.

2. two kinds of E-tape ,One for thick, one for the thin, thick is good! good Weight, and not degummed.
I have tried dymo tap, you can type some words, cool, weight is enough, but a week on the stripped.

ps: made into bowling pins shape, that can fly farther, better loading.

Got it, Thanks!

#295922 Japanese Earthquake/tsunami

Posted by Ozymandias on 13 March 2011 - 04:21 AM in Off Topic

Here is the deal with the nuclear plant:

Basically, the lack of backup electricity from outside the plant shut down the pumping system.
This means that they couldn't pump water through the reactor to cool it.
What they've now done is allowed sea water to flood into it in a last ditch effort to cool the reactor.
If the reactor melts down, it will melt through its concrete containment and through the earth down to the water table.
When it hits the water table, that water instantly turns into steam, and will cause a massive explosion, throwing fallout everywhere.

Even if the sea water does work, it will corrode the pipes. This means they'll have to build a containment dome ala Chernobyl at the very least.

Singapore is a good deal less anal about this stuff. Keep in mind, every male citizen over 18 serves in the military (barring an exemption) for 2 years, so they know what is and is not real.

#314292 "Optimal" 4B Barrel Length and Pain

Posted by Ozymandias on 11 April 2012 - 05:50 PM in General Nerf

Actually, if I remember right, our blasters are way more powerful than most airsoft guns, but our ammo is less efficient.

Depends on what metric you use.

I believe a nitefinder converted to shoot pellets is not allowed in airsoft because the muzzle velocity exceeds the limit for most fields.

Of course, that's neither here nor there, since comparing Nerf to airsoft is like comparing star wars to star trek while at a strip club: a poor use of time.

If the power of a 4B is really a make-or-break issue, an organizer could just mandate that they have a McMaster OPRV.

Edit: I think suction darts have a bit better fit then taggers in pvc, but I could be mistaken. Depends on the batch.

Wire Size: .08 in.
Coils per inch: 3.09

Compressed Length: 2.7192 inches
Deflection: 8.2808 inches

Of course, fully compressing a [k26] spring is a pain in the ass and ROF gos down, so most people just stick with 6-7 inches.
