Gave my RFSG K-9 special a little upgrade.
Old and busted
New hotness
wood grip, little changes to the shell and a PCV homemade pump handle. Was starting to look a little too real for my liking so it got a nice splash of paint too.

I call it a Mav-con and its my new HvZ blaster.
I always felt the recon's slid would make a better fore grip. Pm me if you have a ground breaking suggestion for what to put in the big gap. Right now I'm thinking an integrated flashlight above the barrel with the gap for battery space.

This break has finally given me a chance to finish up some more mods I've been sitting on.
First:
Draconis homemade trigger, Rev. 2 Slug breech and extended stock for big boy comfort. No internal modifications done yet.
Next:
Extreme overhaul here. Long barrel, PETG breech, custom wood grips, pump replacement and relocation.
And the breech open. Pretty sexy if I do say so myself.

Sorry, Rork, I'm going to have to disagree.
This baby debuted at the Seattle SOF war and needs to undergo some additional modifications and a paint job.

Btw, "moddersunited" over at the HvZ forum has developed the clip conversion further and discovered another way to secure the clips... and his design seems to be able to hold the heavier 35-dart drum mags more securely:

Awesome war everyone! Couldn't have asked for more for my first one!
Pros:
-Getting some real war experience. This changed how I'm going to think about mods a little bit.
-Got some great feedback about my BBBB/RF20 combo. I know what I need to change now.
-Meeting some amazing nerfers and never really feeling awkward despite not knowing anyone there. Thanks for being cool guys.
-Rushing the flag defenders, taking them out, then not being able to find the flag sitting in the tree right in front of me at eye level.
-Pistol duel with Sam in the first round. Like something out of the movies, right down to the double kill.
-Medic rounds.
-Trading for some of Tantum's spacer plates.
Con:
- Not getting to meet everyone there. We need name tags next time, guys.
- No SOF guys or Draconis
- My foam being just big enough as to not fit properly in my barrels.
Looking forward to the next one!

I don't think that Seward park would work that well. I worked as a naturalist giving tours there one summer. There are a lot of heavily wooded paths connecting small areas, a bit too small to play in. The woods would make dart retrieval very difficult and I don't think we want to be littering in the park. The only large area is the amphitheater, but that doesn't offer a lot of cover.

I've been working very slowly on a primary for this war and am really pumped! I had a question about the balls for the ball round. The little excerpt from the first page talks about adding weight to the NERF ballistic balls for better range. How much weight are we talking here? I'm thinking not much bigger than a quarter inch ball bearing. Does anyone have experience with this?

Good work as usual, Cheesy. My only concern would be air escaping on a rscb'd air gun using a tight barrel. I think the next step here is to make the valve open inward, which would prevent pressure differences from opening it and would also lead to a more natural load. I actually may do that with your design, just inverted.
Unless I am completely misreading the pictures, it does open in to the RSCB so it seals from the air entering the clip. The Rubber "C" is glued to the coupler, while the flap is not. Gasket flap can move when you force a dart through the hole in the washer.
This is really great and makes RSCB clipped blasters even more dangerous as they can now be reloaded on the fly with basically no fear of being caught during loading.

Very nice job, however I, and I'm sure many others around here, will suggest that make a proper air tank. Captainslug has plans on the site to build a pvc hard tank. How long does it take to fully fill the tank? The masking tape increases your ranges but lowers your ROF, correct? By having an external tank you could stand to eliminate a lot more of the shell making the gun more compact and sleek, you would just have to move or replace the grip and it could almost be the size of a maverick. Add a drop clip mod to this and you'll never have to be worried about being ambushed by those pesky zombies!

Nisaburo, did you replace the spring on your RF20, and, if so, can I haz a part number?
I actually just doubled up on the spring. Unfortunately I just used a random spring in my parts box. I'll see if I can't revisit the mod before the war and come up with and answer for you though.

Yes, yes a thousand times yes! I can make whatever work, but I just need a few weeks notice to clear it with the boss. I've been working on my supped RF20 and got the ranges up to around 60' with new barrel lengths. It needs to be tested in the field though.

Looks like I chose a bad time to post my "Mirage", this is really cool, and in terms of performance is a stronger, and smaller version of the mirage with a higher air capacity. Nice!
I was just wondering, how does the valve in this thing work? And what are the internals like?
The trigger valve in these is what has been described as a hammer or momentary valve. It uses a spring and a weight to quickly open and close a valve between the tank and barrel.

Do you have experience working with a CNC? Make sure that your machine can handle the size of your model. I worry about depth of the plunger cover hole, if your bit isn't long enough you're just going to destroy your model. And your machine.

Not really. Almost any way you spit that into two pieces will have undercuts. Unless you have a really fancy 5 or 6 axis machine it won't be able to cut it. I suggest you tak to the person cutting it for you about what the machine limitations are before you get too deep in th design.Good point. I was about to say "i won't be the one machining it" and then I had an idea: cut the model in half on the computer and have the CNC machine just grind out the two halves and then glue them together. Problem solved.

And its still all war legal, since at its base its a magstrike! I love the use of an extra spring to increase the cycling pressure, very smart and much easier, conceptually at least, than a spring replacement in the MS valve. Did you do any testing with stronger springs? Is the tank expansion mainly to achieve one of your stated goals? It just doesn't seem all that necessary with the potential of adding and changing out springs. You may have solved a whole bunch of problems with air powered automatics with this mod.
