But did you get the number of passes right?

#138034 Who Can Count The Number Of Basketball Passes?

Posted by bobafan on 31 January 2008 - 08:08 PM in Off Topic

BEFORE CLICKING THE LINK, you gotta follow these rules.

The movie you're gonna watch is in the first link below, but you are only allowed to watch it once. Seriously, don't cheat! In the video you will see a group of basketball players, some in white and some in black passing two balls around. Your goal is to count how many times the ball is passed by those wearing white shirts. It’s that simple. Remember, count just the passes of the ball by those wearing white. Once the movie is over, write down the number of passes you have counted, Do not watch the video again. Then go to the second link.

1st link

2nd link

Don't spoil it until there have been a few posts. Thanks.
This isn't a screamer or anything. I hate those things.

Don't cheat!

The VG cats version is better.

#137968 Barrel Rifling

Posted by bobafan on 31 January 2008 - 03:59 PM in Modifications

No. It isn't really necessary because of the short ranges of our guns and it would let air past the dart.
It would be pretty hard to make the presise grooves that are needed, but if you would like to try it, be our guest.

Welcome to nerfhaven.

#137786 Easiest Ls Integration System

Nice idea.
You might want to put a few screws through it if you are going to use it roughly though.

Tell me if you ever have them earlier. A 3 hour drive after a war starting at 11 wouldn't be that great.
Good job editing.

I can silkscreen NH or NIC shirts if someone gives me a design.
They would probably be retail price of shirt+$2+shipping.
eh.

I know about the NH and NHQ shirts there allready are, I just want something different.

Oh yeah. I skimmed that part.
Just follow carbon's fix then.

Yes, it is most likely a production defect.
I would just exchange it if you kept the receipt.

Well you're definately better than I am. I still have an original xbox.
That's because I'd rather be nerfing.
Nice job with short range losing.

Great job, as always.
Do the small cuts in the end of the barrel serve any purpose, or is it purely cosmetic?

How did you manage to take off the orange rings without damaging them? They were pretty stubborn for me.

Is there any way to keep the screws from becoming loose other than using ones which are self-locking?

#136810 Luckiest Day Of My Life

Posted by bobafan on 21 January 2008 - 10:01 PM in General Nerf

My favorite nerf purchase day was when I bought a Titan, hornet, and reactor for $2.50 at goodwill.

2-3 pumps before the op valve does its thing.

#136694 Reactor Mod

Posted by bobafan on 20 January 2008 - 10:55 PM in Modifications

Nice, how much is a reactor now-a-days?

$.50 at goodwill.
They also had a hornet and titan for $1 each.

#136684 Supermax 500 Modification

Posted by bobafan on 20 January 2008 - 10:13 PM in Modifications

From what I can tell it's about the same as an at2k,
I haven't been able to use it much though because it is currently 12*F.

#136681 Supermax 500 Modification

Posted by bobafan on 20 January 2008 - 09:58 PM in Modifications

Alright.
I know there aren't very many of these left, but I decided to make a writeup anyway.
Diagram of parts

Start with your stock SM500.

Remove the round orange pieces which reside where I have circled.
Posted Image

I used my dremel and just cut them off, but it can also be done with a pocketknife and patience.

Next unscrew the yellow pieces on the handle.
Then remove all of the screws. Don't forget the ones the yellow piece were covering.
Posted Image

Take off the shell and take a good look at the trigger assembly.
Posted Image\

Now, take the pump and tank assembly out. Be carefull not to lose any springs.

Cut the barrel off where the orange muzzle piece ends and set aside the pump and tank.

Now remove the white plastic from the muzzle by any means necessary.
I made parallel cuts with my dremel and pried off the bits.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

Take out the spring and peg thing. Then drill out the inside of the muzzle.
Change this.
Posted Image
To this. (mine isn't quite done)
Posted Image
Make sure your barrel materiel fits snugly.

Get that tank piece back out and cut the white barrel so it is flush with the purple shell.
Posted Image

Put the muzzle piece on the barrel, then put in your barrel materiel as far as possible. Pull out the muzzle.
Now you know the distance between the back of the muzzle and the front of the tank.
Mark it.
Posted Image

Then wrap e-tape around the exposed barrel piece until it is flush with the back of the muzzle.
Posted Image

After cutting off any excess tape, jam the muzzle into the white barrel piece. It should be tight.
Posted Image

Wrap a bit of tape around the outside of the white tube so it will be snug with the shell.

Put everything back together.
There you go.
Posted Image
I get similar ranges to an AT2K

Questions? Comments?

WARNING: Do not plug the pump. It is very easy to damage the valve beyond repair.

Thanks to Nerfer34 for parting with this rarity.

My best couplered NF has a spring similar to that one, and smaller spring inside of it. It has a replaced o-ring etc.
On a good day with a good dart, I can get 80'

As is stated by the author of that instructable, the laser is very weak and could only be used for cutting dark paper. Transparent plastic is quite a lot harder to cut. The laser he used was from a DVD/CD writing drive.

Several hardware stores sell springs, although I have never seen any at lowes.
You can also order them online from mcmaster-carr.

There haven't been any major Indiana wars in the last year or so that I know of. I went to a war in ohio and was going to go to another in the winter, but my ride cancelled at 11:00 the night before.
I'm in Columbus IN, mabie we can have a war sometime.

Fins are the keel of aeronatics. They align a progectile to the air current by not allowing a crosscurrent.

Missles have many fins because it adds stability to steering. It is like a car with front wheel steering opposed to rear.

#135584 Proplusion, Springs And Psi

Posted by bobafan on 10 January 2008 - 11:42 PM in General Nerf

There is just so many variables, It would be very difficult to make such an equation. There is the inertia of the plunger assembly, the friction on the catch, the friction of the plunger head on the plunger tube, the compression of air before the dart moves, the dead space, various air restriction devices(such as tubes), the fit of the dart on the barrel, the inertia of the dart, and any leaks you have, just to find one variable, the legnth of tubing. And that is just off the top of my head.

The best way to find the ideal legnth for any particular gun would be to guess and change the legnth in one inch incriments until it works as well as you like.

General guides can be made for different streanths of guns, but exactness is difficult.

I use a MS clip to hold darts while they cool, a pillowcase to hold the cut foam, and an earplug container to hold the weights.

Is the use of an ice pick a serious suggestion?

An ice pick or dental pick is what I used to poke through the electrical tape. You could probably drill through it with a really small bit instead.

Ok, I was thinking like this:

that makes more sense.

TTG knockoff 2/3 down page
Something
No pics.
People don't like taking pictures.

It isn't uncommon to have toy molds sold where the toys are produced and seperate companies make the same toy for cheaper. It isn't that they don't know it is copyright infringement, it is one of two things. One, they don't give a damn, Two, who is going to make them give the real owner money for breaking american copyrights?

The amount of glue holding the endcaps on varies between different parts. You're just one of the lucky few without much glue.

#134660 Just A Warning About A Crap Gun.

There are ripoffs of many nerf guns and off brand guns. People in china or wherever the toys are made don't really care that it is copyrighted, they just want their cut of the business.
