Trouble With The Chainblazer

10 February 2008 - 06:25 PM

Alright, before I get started, please move this topic if its in the wrong place. I put it in modifications, because I tried to modify the blaster at first, but I am having some trouble with it.

Anyway, I got a Chainblazer yesterday, and it was decent. But I only had 4 functional megas. So I wanted to try to modify it to shoot micros. I cut some pieces of CPVC, Wrapped each one in e-tape and fit them into the chains. When I tried to shoot it, it didn't shoot at all. So I took it apart, and found out the plunger was bone dry. So I put some lube on the plunger. Then after I closed it back up, the gun still doesnt fire. It makes the loud bang when i pull back the handle, but only 1 or 2 darts fire for every 10 or so attempts of shooting it. I hotglued an o-ring to the lip that connects the plunger to the chains, but that didn't help at all. Any ideas as to what is wrong with it? Sorry if I was too vague.

Broken At2k

20 January 2008 - 05:01 PM

I modded an AT2K with basic mods about 2 months ago. All I did was a cpvc barrel replacement, and pump plug. I didn't use it for awhile, and recently i picked it up and tried to pump it. But when I pump it, the air escapes out the pump, instead of storing in the tank. I've tried fast pumps, slow pumps, and I even took it apart to check the internals, and oiled up the pump. but nothing works. I need help on diagnosing the problem.
Any suggestions?

"lazy" Eagle Eye Mod

03 November 2007 - 05:52 PM

First off, Let me say a few things: I know FA24 has done an eagle eye mod that is 10 times better than this one. I also know that not that many people have a spare eagle eye lying around. But regardless, I am posting this, because I was surprised by the results.

What you will need:
Eagle eye
1/2" CPVC
Etape or whatever tape you prefer

Alright, so what we are doing is basically putting a CPVC barrel into the eagle eye's barrel.

First, cut a section of your CPVC. I cut off 4" for this particular mod, but you can cut whatever length to your preference.

Next, wrap 2-4 layers of tape around the middle, or near the end of the CPVC that will actually be inside the barrel.

Now, shove the barrel into your eagle eye, and you're done! It should fit snug into the barrel. If it takes too much force to get the barrel in, then take off a layer of tape. If its too loose, add a layer, and so on.

I haven't gotten ranges yet, because its raining hard out here on the east coast. I will try to get them when the storm passes over. I did shoot it once outside (That wasn't the only time I shot it, but it was the only time I did outside) and it looked to get around 70' flat from about 5' off the ground, shooting a stefan. I know that sounds too good to be true, but I was also surprised how far it shot with such a simple mod. Another note: when I used a stefan, ramrodding it didn't do so well, what I did was simply removed the CPVC, put the stefan in the back end of it, replaced it into the gun, and it works extremely well.

Hopefully I get put into the directory for this! :)

Star Wars Dart Gun Mod

19 October 2007 - 11:09 PM

I am sort of new to nerfhaven, so please forgive me if I do something wrong.

I was checking out the local Wal-mart's clearance aisle, when I spotted a Star Wars dart gun on clearance for $11. I decided, why not, lets try it out.

When I got back home and tried it out, the dart lobbed to the ground, a mere 10 feet in front of me. I was obviously disappointed. But instead of tossing the gun in the trash, I decided to take a try at modifying it.

Here is the gun, after modification:

Sorry that the picture is such crappy quality, but all I have is an old webcam that belongs to my friend.
Also, sorry I don't have a picture of the internals. I might try to get some up tomorrow.

It doesn't look much different after modification then it did stock, other than an orange ring on the end I had to pry off to get the gun open.

First and foremost, the gun's air restrictor is a pain to remove. I had to actually cut the plunger barrel to get to it, because it has a plunger stopper that I couldn't get to. I hotglued the plunger barrel on afterwards, and it works fine.

I did a few modifications to it: Added a spring, wrapped a few holes with etape, and put some lube on the plunger (which is almost bone-dry in stock form).

After re-assembling the gun, it fired quite well. I wish I could get ranges for it, but its midnight, and its raining out. It looks like it will get a good 50 feet though, after firing it across my living room.

EDIT: I got the ranges today:

Stock Tagger Darts:
Average: 39'

Average: 41'

Sort of inconsistent, but it was cold out.

I will try sometime this weekend to get some pics of the internals, and try to do a sort of writeup on this, and hopefully get put in the directiory.
