Longshot Illuminated Scope / Sight

02 January 2008 - 02:46 AM

Alright Nerfers, I finally thought I would have a go at opening up the longshot scope. I found it to be remarkably easy!

All I had to do was twist the smaller yellow cap off with my bare hands. Much, much cleaner then cutting it off.
For the larger cap, I found that it had to come straight off (without twisting) as it runs along a sort of rail. All I needed to do here was wiggle it off side-to-side and it came off almost as easily as the smaller cap.

After unscrewing the scope, I pondered for at least an hour of what I could do to it. A laser or torch (flashlight) would fit inside nicely but then I would lose the point of looking through the sight as you couldn't see through it.
I also thought of putting a real sight inside but that over does my budget. I wanted to construct a red dot sight out of materials from home.

I would like to know if it is possible to illuminate the crosshair with LEDs somehow without light escaping the scope itself. I found this to try and spark ideas ... http://forums.astron...opic.php?t=3517

Halfway Questions For The Ls

12 August 2007 - 07:01 AM

I'm halfway through modifying my first Nerf gun and i need a few quick questions answered;

I pulled my gun apart and put all the pieces in the box. On reconstruction, I had trouble picking the difference between two springs. The lock spring in the front gun that holds it in place when attached to the main gun, and the spring for the clip lock. Both are very similar but one is much easier to compress. Does anyone know which is which?

A lot of people have made "silencers" for the LS. Some of these use the attachment piece on the front gun but do not have the lock (mentioned above), on the silencer. Does that make the silencer attachment loose and easy to fall off?

Does anyone know a way to open the scope without cutting through the centre of the yellow caps?

How does everyone join the springs in the clips together? They seem to join them with the top end joined to the top end of the other spring. This means the bottom of the spring will still be placed around the screw hole at the bottom of the high capacity magazine, but the other end of the combined spring is the bottom of the other spring which doesn't fit in the follower. Has anyone joined them up the right way?

These will do for now.

P.S, this is my first post (since changing users from Assaulted by Longshot due to email problems).
