Actually, cutting coils increases the spring rate.

I'm probably going to end up cutting some coils off the return spring....it's a bit burly right now.

Wouldn't that make the spring harder to compress?

PS - I love watching the incremental improvements develop

I've never used tubing cutters. Would sharpening help?

I get my best cuts with a hack saw and a miter box.

Or drill two holes in the pvc and insert a metal rod through them.

On a side note, I rigged up a brass barrel (17/32") and new plunger tube (the part with the o-ring) and was getting another 5-10' with the stock spring. My "extra" spring broke my contraption, but I'll try again tomorrow with more metal parts this time.

How hard is it to cock?


It's no problem for me to cock, but it is harder than stock, obviously. It's less hard than a NF with handyman spring replacement.
