Troubles Modding Nightfinder

27 January 2009 - 09:34 PM

I've tried a some of mods and they all seem to be costing me a few feet rather than gaining any distance. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get over 30 feet. I'm using stock darts because that's what my friends will be using and we want to be able to salvage each other's ammo.

First I removed the air resticter. That seemed to lose me a few feet. Compared to a stock nf, I usually got 3-5 feet less. Then I taped up where the barrel meets the air chamber for a better seal and gave the spring a little bit of a stetch. That seemed to put me back on par with the stock nf. Then I tried replacing the barrel with a Crayola marker casing, making sure everything was sealed. It lost me about 1-2 feet. I put the stock barrel back in and put in a higher tension spring. That helped, but it was too high tension so it had trouble cocking. I think I can solve that problem by finding a happy medium between that spring and the stock one though.

Anyway, I've got some 1/2'' PVC and CPVC, but the PVC is too wide and the CPVC is just a little bit too tight to fit a stock dart in there.

Am I doing something wrong? Any help or tips you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
