Firefly3k

23 August 2008 - 10:49 PM

Okay, before you say anything along the lines of "that's a waste" I had completely good reasons to do this. My at3k was acquired from a friend and I had to do repairs to it, even after those the rotation mechanism was still messed up. I also had a stock Firefly which I put its spring into my Vulcan. So, the Firefly didn't have a firing mechanism and the at3k didn't have a rotation mechanism. Perfect fit.

Overall, I put the at3k firing mechanism in the Firefly, did some work on the shell for the pump, took out the air restrictors, and the flash system still works, even timed right with the at3k internals.
Finished product.

I had to shape the plastic on the top part of the case a bit where the valve is, at the back of it. You can't really tell unless you know where it is, it looks like part of the black tubing on the outside. I also cut the second piece of metal off of the valve and used it to reinforce the trigger, it's a tad flimsy. The trigger slides back along the rod until it hits the end, then it opens the valve.

Trigger, left and right. The plastic parts are from where I cut out for the pump.

It gets decent ranges, more than a stock Firefly but probably not as much as singled at3k. Three pumps and it's full.
