Homemade Air Tank Covers?

01 December 2008 - 10:35 PM

I have a few homemades (if I actually warred, then perhaps I'd find out how effective they were), but was curious about over-safety about the air tank. I know someone posted awhile back about wrapping the air tank in denim - I didn't have denim available, but instead wrapped the air tank in nylon cord.

So my question is, would nylon cord wrapped (painstakingly) around the entire air tank reduce/limit catastrophic failure of the air tank? Keep in mind I'm not talking about putting 100PSI in to the air tank, I'm talking about "reasonable" 30 to 40 PSI.

Thanks for any advice in advance...

Foam Ball Firing Crossbow

09 September 2008 - 10:40 PM

Hey, guys,

I saw this while perusing an outdoor hunting shop :) :

link here

I'm curious if this foam ball crossbow is:
- good/worthy
- gets decent ranges (box doesn't say)
- worth the price of $19.95 at basspro.com (http://www.basspro.c...__SearchResults)
- potential for modifications

The outdoor shop I saw this in seemed to market it for young-uns and for accuracy. Noteably the box lacks any detail of ranges. And, yeah, balls tend to have terrible aerodynamics and ranges. The thing that interests me is the stock is solid, hard plastic...

That said, could this be a worthy (cheap) contender to the holy-grail crossbow and +bow?

Barrel Splitters?

18 August 2008 - 11:09 PM

I've been toying with the idea of using the following with a garden hose nozzle gun.

And just for the record, it's not for use with air tanks (for obvious reasons regarding the rated pressure ratings), but for the barrels themselves. I'm already making one (it's a 1-to-2 device, $0.75 from Walmart; I'm also behind on my building schedule), but I'm curious as to why no one decided to use this before. Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for any advice...
