I worked extensively with carbon fiber both as tubing and as sheets. When it cracks/breaks/fails, it becomes razor sharp. If however (as mentioned by ... dang it doesn't scroll up enough for me to quote someone) it's wrapped in something else it would be far less likely to fail catastrophically ("gee, I'm sorry it took your arm off, it was wrapped in foam..."). Although wrapping it up extensively would offset any lightweight advantages, so you'd have to design with some degree of fail-safe and still maintaining a level of fun (what, the 20 pound foam sword isn't heavy enough?).
I digress though, good job on reinforcement. Next we'll have classes on spinning the sword so violently so as to block all incoming foam. Muhahaha, wouldn't that be an awesome sight (or not)?

This information would be better in Nerf Product Awareness. It also would have displayed prices and locations of where to get Nerf and Nerf-related equipment.
Incidentally, I think your first post should have read AT3K and not AT2K... I personally don't think much of the AT3K because the cocking mechanism clicks in each direction. Or maybe it's a problem with the two that I have, oh well...

With respect to Crayolas and barrel types, see the new thread here for more information.
Me, I use 1/2" PVC. It's extremely loose on stock micro darts, but it works for me. I don't do range tests, since "if it ain't fun, why do it" and I lack moving targets to ply my trade with...

Not to add fuel to the fire (pun intended, and not - isn't life duplicitous?), but how come no one mentions fire damage to the surroundings? Like, forest fires? Burning buildings? Smoldering furniture?
But, yeah, fire is bad for toys. Fire is even worse when you combine toy guns. Even in the best of circumstances, fire is difficult to control by "experts" in the field...

@rork - yes, Sch40PVC with PVC Cement, but no PVC primer used.
@draconis - call me silly, but I have a problem with a pants leg being used on the "nerf" gun. I guess my sewing skills would show and it would look like I stuck something down my pants (pun intended)
Sorry, guys - I just have a real safety concern about sticking a (for lack of a better term) a potential grenade next to my body. I don't need to become part porg (Plastic ORGanism) yet... Although, I may have to start thinking about a tire pressure reader-mod if this keeps bugging me...
Thanks much!
