Memorial Day

27 May 2006 - 09:00 PM

Yes, the first summer holiday, for some the first big cookout, and yes, one of the top days for alcohol consumption. Fun. But what does Memorial Day really mean to you? Post your thoughts, opinions, and beleifs about this holiday here.

I'll start: I beleive that Mem. Day is one of our most important national holidays. Every second, hundreds of families are without their Mom/Dad/Son/Daughter/spose because every second of every day there are hundreds of United States soldiers spread around the globe, all for us. As much as we take our freedom for granted, we generally fail to even acnowledge the most basic fact there is: Freedom isn't free. So, sometime this weekend, thank a soldier. don't make a big thing out of it necessarily, just shake their hand and thank them. It means something to them.

Basic Ballvalve Gun Question

13 May 2006 - 08:02 PM

The basic ballvalve as seen in the homemeades section of this site is what I need information on. Does anyone have a good estimate of ranges? If anyone can offer up other basic information about it, I'd appreciate it.

Christmas/ Other Holidays

07 December 2005 - 06:41 PM

First iI want to wish everyone Happy Holidays! Second, I wish to share with all of you an event that recently reminded me of the true meaning of the holidays:

Last weekend my girlfriend and I went carroling with her youth group at church. we went to several houses, froze to death, then came back to the church and stuffed ourselves with hot chocolate and cookies. Then the pastor came in. With him, a list of people that live out of the carroling area. We called each of them, spreading a bit of cheer to each. Then , finally, the last person. On the other end, a 100+ year old woman picked up. We began to sing carrols for about 10 minutes before we stopped. when we did, the woman on the other end was crying, thanking us for taking our time to do that. As it turns out that lady had been without many cards, or without people stopping by to chat, or what have you.

Kinda makes you think, doesn't it? Well, I wish all of you a Happy Holiday!

(Sorry if I'm not supposed to make a topic like this, I wasnt here last holiday season, at least I don't think I was.)
