The point of the dart pegs is to not allow foreign objects into the barrel, such as batteries, etc.
Thanks for clarifying, I always thought it is to hold the darts in place.
And yet, Airsoft exists. I've played it, and have never bled from a hit.
The trick here is to use plastic BB's commonly used in Airsoft, and not metal hunting BB's. Not sure if they make them in that caliber anyway, so it might be a difficult mistake to make.
There are many types of BB guns, Air powered , Electric powered and the common spring loaded ones. A high powered air / electric BB gun with high joules can pierce through your skin from 20 meters away. I've seen serious Airsoft injuries before but not in an airsoft battle, as there are restrictions for your guns so they can't be too powerful.
