I'm relatively new to Nerf, but I'd like to start some wars in my local community (try taking that last bit out of context, heh). I do frequent the Rochester Foam Dart League (for those in the Rochester, NY area), however I do find the soccer field play-area, and the 110FPS limit unfortunately limiting. I'd like to set something up for people in my town on days that the RFDL isn't going, but I don't know where to start, or what to be concerned about legally. I recall seeing a thread that covers how to SET UP wars, but my problem is more regarding the legal stuff. I know the RFDL has velocity limits, and no melees/shields and even waivers to be signed for a reason, but I'd like to know if there is a reasonable way around that.

I haven't seen anyone advertise it besides for the original leagues last year, so I figured I'll go ahead and plug it. Every week in the Rochester, NY area there are wars up at the Webster Recreation Center on Thursdays, and the Rochester Sports Garden on Saturdays. They do require registration which can be found over at their website: http://www.rochester...dartleague.com/and blasters are restricted to only firing a maximum of ~110 fps. All BoomCO, MEGA, and elite darts are provided, as are rival rounds. Vortex discs, and any other ammo type that isn't quite Elite/Mega/BoomCO isn't provided, but you could bring it (please note that there are a lot of children who go casually, and aren't necessarily big into Nerf who may run off and return it to the league's ammo-pool not realizing you brought it.)
