Slingfire Glove

23 July 2014 - 01:36 PM

The slingfire is fun to use, but slinging it one handed can hurt the un-padded parts of your fingers. one option would be to add padding to the lever, but for those who want to keep the gun "clean", a padded glove is a good solution.

I apologize for the lack of step by step photos, but this is simple enough that it should not matter.

materials:

a stretchy knit glove

craft foam, mattress foam, or even foam from ruined darts (if it's in good enough shape)

(I chose green to match the slingfire.)

tools:

scissors

hot glue gun

paint markers or white out (optional)

If desired, open up glove finger tips (for improved fit a dexterity.)
Cut foam to match your finger segment's length, and to fit the top os the glove fingers, and hot glue them on to the glove as shown at top.(the index finger padding is extraneous)
fill out the glove fingers with markers to help position the foam correctly (DO NOT HOT GLUE IT WHILE WEARING!)

also, add extra padding to the bottom of the little finger.
Play with the thickness of the foam till it fits in the lever how you like it.

if your foam has edges, try angling them to make putting them in and out of the lever smoother.

I used paint markers and white out to add more color, and the stencil that came with the hammershot for the Z logo.

ps. This is in the mods section because it is an alternative to modding the gun itself. It would also fit well in general nerf, but it's too late to change that now.
pps. If you make one, I'd love to see pics of how it turned out.
