Longshot internal pump action mod (UPDATE)

05 September 2013 - 04:24 PM

Here is my write up for a longshot pump action modification with internal parts

You will need a Longshot and a Deploy
Posted Image
Here they are aren't they pretty.

We now need to go a bit Dr frankenstien on them. The Black marks are sharpie marker and are the lines that we need to cut on

Posted Image
This is the Deploy all we need is the pump handle and rail assembly

Posted Image
This is the longshot its just the bipod and useless bits under the bipod

So now we have a pair of butchered blasters. I like to deal with the Deploy parts first.

Posted Image
So this is what we have and it is the only part of the Deploy IMO that is any good.
Throw the rest away unless you a an affinaty for really bad blasters that are performace impaired.

Posted Image
This pic shows one of the screw ports that will be in the way if we dont get rid of it

Posted Image
The other small ports i like to get rid off just because im like that. I dont actually think they impeed anything

Posted Image
Here is the slider mech all cleaned up and with out its ports

Posted Image
This is were we need to elongate the slider hole and shorten the nubs on the pump grip.
Cut again were the black marks are.

Thats it for now put it to one side we will see it again later.

Posted Image
Bye

Now on to the longshot its self remove the parts we marked up earlier and we end up with

Bottom view

Now we deal with the internal mods on the shell. Take the top part of the shell that hasnt got any of the internals attatched.
This photo might be a bit difficult to work out unless you are really familiar with longshots
Posted Image

Once again the plastic between the black marks has to go. I dont have a pic of pieces removed (sorry).
This only needs to be done on one side of the blaster Make it as smooth as possible i just use a utility knife as the plastic is very soft.

Once that has been done put the blaster back together. Only use enough screws so it doesnt fall apart. Do the same with the deploy part.

Once both are partially assembled glue them together how ever you see fit. I used super strength hot melt glue sticks in my glue gun.

It needs to look like this once glued.

Posted Image

Once the initial glueing is cured open up the blaster again and glue the parts together from the inside.

Leave the blaster disassembled.

Now on to the Hot work (PLEASE PLEASE WEAR HOT WORK GLOVES AND GOGGLES) Here is what we will need.
Posted Image

List is Blow torch, 4x4mm x 1 meter steel rod, needle nose pliers,

Cut the steel rod in half and heat up one end untill cherry red
Posted Image

Take the needle nose pliers and bend the end around so there is a loop that will fit over the screw port that the original priming rod of the deploy was around.
Posted Image

Now some more bending is needed all of this is by eye so i dont have any measurements. I will put the pics up so you can see the shape needed. I will make another and get measurements coz im nice.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Little tweeks are going to be needed to get it just right this is the third one i have done and its dead easy once you get the hang of it.

It fits in the blaster like this

Posted Image

I found to get the bar to sit correctly you will need to scallop the hole on the bolt sled. The scallop needs to be going toward the front of the blot sled. Pics are on the way for that.

Once this is all done it can all go back together.

This particular blaster has AR removed and a 2x OMW spring dual orings

Hope you like any questions please ask

UPDATE

This is what i do with my rods (oh i say) with higher spring rates i use chemical metal in the picture it looks like white miliput but its just the flash.

Posted Image

Posted Image

The next pic is a little blurry but i think you will get the idea. It is a picture of the scalloped boltsled so you can get the idea

Posted Image

Also i have finnished another i think i may have a problem

Posted Image

I havent finnished my blue version yet i will update when its done. Im using the front blaster off the blue one as the pump action. Its proving a little tougher but it will be good.

Elite Alpha Trooper CS-12 first look

20 March 2013 - 11:20 AM

Got Two alpha troopers cs 12 today.

Here is a quick review with some pictures for you all.

First off is the box and packaging here is the front.
First looks there is no ammo drum and it is a 12 dart clip as we already had worked out.

Posted Image

Next is the back with all the usual Nerf pointers with 20meter range expected.

Posted Image

Contents looks like Hasbro are going with minimum packaging staying on form with the current Elite line.
No plastic bags on the darts or blaster to protect the paint work.

Comes with one 12 dart clip and 12 darts

Posted Image

Blaster is the same size as the original Alpha Trooper.

Posted Image

Posted Image

It is soooooooo quiet when you fire off a dart and it has good velocity and distance first full clip i estimate to have gone 20-25 meters fired them off in my mothers 25 foot garden 4 out of 12 hit the 6 foot fence about 3 foot high. Sorry no pictures or video to prove this so make of it what you will.

Next is some internal pictures i know you all like internals

Posted Image

Posted Image

It has all the usual annoying locks and quirks
Spring seams a little wimpy im gonna look through my springs to see it can be made better

Plunger rod there is a little dead space in the end but not much

Posted Image

Any more pictures wanted just let me know

I'm pretty sure the Alpha Trooper is exclusive to argos in the uk so I don't know if they will be going across the pond. If I remember correctly the guy from hasbro at the toy fair said it won't be released in america for a long time at least untill argos has has there fill.
I guess its our Triad.
