Sliding Tubing

15 December 2004 - 12:03 AM

Since I'm tired of using and buying brass for just its sliding capabilities, has anyone found a combination of pvc/electric conduit that slides well with one another? You know how 17/32 and 9/16 brass slides well with each other and creates a good seal, no gaps, but not too tight? Well I need some PVC to do that. I know bolt master zero got a working combo, but I don't remember what he used. I have a home depot and a lowes nearby so I don't want to order from any online PVC specialty stores.

thanks for any help (*ahem bolt master zero* ^_^)

Zero Valve Tmp

I constructed this one a while ago. Vintage's topic (http://nerfhaven.com...?showtopic=2797) inspired me to become not so lazy and take a picture of it, since his design is almost exactly like mine. I didn't want to hijack his topic, so I made a new one. It is modeled after a TMP, poorly at that, I didn't want to make a frame for it, so you are essentially holding the air tank in your hands.

It has a detachable barrel, onboard pump salvaged from a super soaker bought at target, and a zero valve hooked up to the trigger. The trigger has string on it, so that when you pull the trigger, it doesn't bend out of shape, it stays in it's 90* angle. Also, I did use a nested barrel because zero valves open slow even with a fast trigger pull, so in result, the pressure has time to build up in the nest.

Ranges are not exact, they are comparative to my other gun's range, meaning I measured only once for all the guns I tested, so these ranges are a few feet off, and I didn't measure the the inch, just the nearest 5ft mark. The ranges are pretty poor for the pumps needed, due to small pump, small zero valve, darts too light for this gun.

8 pumps ~ 70 ft
8 pumps ~ 75 ft
8 pumps ~ 55 ft

16 pumps ~ 85 ft
16 pumps ~ 80 ft
16 pumps ~ 80 ft

If I were to remake this gun, I would make the airtank a tad bigger, use a MUCH bigger pump, and use a bigger zero valve with 3/4" PVC instead of 1/2".

Barrel Porting

25 March 2004 - 12:08 PM

Has anyone tested barrel porting and found a significant range/accuracy increase? I know the concept behind it, and that its used in paintball, but I am a bit sceptical about it in nerf. Just wanted to ask if anyone has tried it before I go dish out the money for more brass to test it.

Nerf Gun Check Valve

09 September 2003 - 02:55 PM

Has anyone taken a nerf gun's check valve apart? That is the pump's check valve, the little gadget where the pump connects to the tubing. My at3000's check valve isn't working right, and I was wondering if anyone has looked at it before I rip it open and see for myself...

Maxshot Paradise

18 August 2003 - 01:31 PM

No toy store around me has carried any kind of decent nerf gun, only Airtech 1000s and some ball guns, but today I took a road trip out of my area to a ToysRus. I walked to the sports section and there it was, a glowing shelf of paradise! They had a whole shelf dedicated to Lanard's Maxshot, like 20+ of those 5$ suckers, and 2 more shelfs dedicated to Firstshots and Tripleshots. Then, they had like 5 shelfs dedicated to Airtechs. That was the most nerfguns I have seen in my life.

Anyway, are the lanard guns/airtech guns/rapidfire in any kind of demand? I know what it feels like to have no good stores around you're general area...

Well, I had to share my excitement to someone..
