The other thing you are forgetting is that the majority of the founding members of this site are older and WAY more busy than anyone. The fact that they choose to keep this site open is a gift to you all. Just follow the rules yourselves and let those with the authority do their end.

With all due respect, OMC, I'm not quite sure why you reacted in this manner. I posted this because these are areas in which we could improve. I recognized several times that the founders and admins have lives that they are concerned with over this site, and that they are not required to interrupt them in any way just for monitoring these boards. I also noted that it is the posters' responsibilities to read and think about what they post. I don't see it as bitching in any regard. If I'm missing something as to why you are irked by this, please tell me, because this doesn't make sense right now...

You'll be hard-pressed (yes, I said hard-pressed) to find a forum that doesn't eventually meet its quota of stupid people, bad grammar, lack of discipline, etc. Be thankful that this forum, as it appears, still has some intelligent veterans along with some intelligent newcomers. As long as you acknowledge the fact that there is a problem, you're on the way to fixing it-- by not acting like a dumb ass, you set an example.

But aside from the "omgz wherez da old timez," the forum looks like it's holding up just fine. Like OMC said: be thankful that you have NerfHaven along with some dedicated administrators. It's a haven for a reason, yes?

Half of you posting in "support" of any sort of change have only been active for less than a year, probably joined in the last 5 months and therefore don't know what the fuck you're supporting in bringing the "Old" Haven back, and probably just felt like chiming in your two cents, or just don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

I've watched this forum grow since it's birth (you can check my member number to the left) and admittedly it has evolved over time, people come and go, but the functionality has remained the same. The Haven has always been a sort of self-sustaining system - the admins keep things in check, both extremes. We open the doors, and close them for certain individuals; the members acting as a sort of self-policing force. You either obeyed the rules and listened to those who had been here longer than you, or you were banned / politely asked to fuck off. It's a fairly simple system. You have to give respect before you can have respect.

You preach and rally for change, yet are reluctant in offering any sort of viable plan of action other than the ever-growing elaborate explanation of why we need a fucking Nerf Renaissance here. Grow up.

I was thinking of posting something similar to this. Note: similar. What I noticed was that there are very few innovative modifications/paintjobs/homemades right now. I think the problem has much less to do with overzealous new members and more to do with a lack of new material. I think the admins are doing great, and the experienced modders are doing pretty well too, especially CS and FA_24. All I can offer as a solution is a personal pledge to make something cool before spring. That's it, more cool stuff from everybody, and the problems will solve themselves.

For the record I have been here since July 05 and lurked for an additional 2 months prior.

I just remember starting out and double checking my posts for spelling mistakes so Talio wouldn't virtually Bludgeon my face. Ruling with an iron fist kept me in line. Just my two cents.

I think the simple answer to this is that the nerf content is down. We(including me have to produce some mods or help out in some way). I apologize that I haven't been doing anything productive lately. When I get an offseason, I will contribute.

But back about a year or two ago, there was CS, carbon, ompa, boltsniper, FA24, and others that I know I'm forgetting.

Now we just have to fill their shoes.

Perosnally, I don't see what you are talking about. There probably are a few people that can be annoying and type l1k3 Th1sz, but the admins are doing a pretty awesome job to keep things under control. One thing I don't understand is the fact that you want the admins to be tougher. The admins here are already really strict, so why would you want them to ban people so easily? In case you haven't noticed, I stalked yo--- i mean, revised some of the posts you've done in nerfhaven, and if the admins were as strict as you want them to be, you would've been banned months ago. This is not a flame by the way. it's just my personal opinion.

To be honost with you NH really isnt bad I mean look at other forums there so filled with crappy 2 word post that mean absolutely nothing I once got banned from a forum for saying something that was 3 words long and was permanently banned.Also internet as we know it is getting filled with more and more 1337 speakers.
But I must admit though over here I was thinking about leaveing when I was accepted because the moderators/admins are such hard ass's.

First, I realize that I am not an administrator, nor is it likely I will ever become one. Therefore, this argument will not carry as much weight as if cxwq or VACC posted the same concept

I did not create this topic to host a flame-war. Quite the opposite. I wanted to give something that we could improve upon to better ourselves, as I thought that we would be mature enough to see that. I went out of my way to acknowledge that it is not the responsibility of admins to patrol our boards 24-7 and interrupt their lives over the welfare of this site, and made comments which you founders and administrators seemed to agree with or agreed with in the past. Many of the points which I have listed are commonly highlited by others as anathema to NH, so this is really no different. I am not certain as to why it was received so negatively, or why some points that I stressed were ignored, so please inform me if there is some problem with the way I presented this. I want to understand what I did wrong instead of wandering around in the dark and risking carrying a grudge or presenting this way again on some other topic. Help me out here.

The Code is there for a reason. Firefox has a built-in Spell Checker. If you're too dense to not read over what you post before you post it - then you are definitely in the wrong place. I'm pretty sure that tradition has been established here for a while, and further emphasized by the nature of the boards and admins. What more do you want? As Cmdrmack eloquently stated, there's only so much we can do to educate folks. The idea of adding a quiz prior to registration is absolutely absurd. It's up to you to contribute to the general flow of information and atmosphere of the boards, just as it is for me. Whatever method I "want" is totally irrelevant.
