I don't really undestand why General Cole is making articles of clothing with my name on it. First it frightened me, but after a few hours I got over it. It seems obvious that General Cole is hoping to have sex with me.

By the way- Do you want me to pick up the 2k turret at hershfest?
But Shorty- Go to purevolume.com, go to the bottom of the page where the random button is, switch the genre to metal and keep doing it until you find a band you like.

Norma Jean, Fear before the March Of Flames, The number 12 looks like you - All Metalcore. It's not a bad thing as I said(hell, I like them all), just pointing it out.
Heavy Heavy Low Low - Mathcore - A more technical(that being, musical talent/complication) genre than Metalcore.
Comeback Kid - Hardcore - Again, not bad, but not really metal.
Slipknot - While I don't know their music particularly well, they are not really metal at all. Most true metalheads deem them 'mallcore' or even 'rapcore.' Again, I'm not going to argue with people over music in a thread, if you feel I am wrong, feel free to PM me.
Not familiar with "vanna, mychildren mybride, and others..."
The 'jewish band' that OMC alluded to is Meshuggah a post-Thrash/Death Metal band. While their name is derived from Jewish languages, they really are not Jewish, they just liked the meaning of the word; 'crazy.' If you want to listen to them, I'd recommend Chaosphere - it's one of my favorite albums of theirs.
Iron Maiden is a great band, and is a true pioneer of the genre. As far as DragonForce being 'lighter' I guess I can see what you mean. Some of their lyrics are a bit softer, but they're really pretty standard as far as Power Metal goes.
Another tool I liked when I was listening to more mainstream metal, similar to keef's suggestion is Pandora. I believe there's been talks about it before on NH, but I could be wrong. It's great, until you get into lesser known bands. A lot of the stuff I type in returns few or no results(often times the results being primarily the band I searched for ).
As far as suggestions go for similar stuff to Kamelot goes, I can't offer too much. They are, as far as I know, considered Melodic Power Metal. Similar to DragonForce, technically, sure, but I'm not positive that you'd like them - haven't heard Kamelot in a long time. I recently heard some Biss and Black Masquerade that I'd call Melodic Power though. One of my favorite 'lighter' metal bands is Persefone. Their stuff is pretty hard to find, even on the 'nets, but they're pretty awesome. Looking back at what I've just written, I realize that my definition of 'light' might be slightly different than yours, but I'd still give them a try.
It's late, I haven't slept in about 2 days, and I may have just rambled on quite incomprehensibly. However, if you've made it this far and still want more recommendations, I'd need some more band names other than Kamelot.
Edit: To prove my point about Pandora, I just tried a search for a Melo-Death band I've found rather recently, "Be'lakor" and Pandora returned the following:
"We found several. Which "be'lakor" did you mean?
Plakor by Approximation
Bella Flor by La Familia Pena-Govea"
Those are nothing even remotely close, are they?
Edit 2: Also check out Evergrey. I like their older stuff, but it's all pretty good.

Dio (kick ass)
Judas Priest
Led Zeppelin
Motörhead
Mushroomhead
Ozzy Osbourne
Those are all decent metal bands, not overly heavy though. For some very heavy music (these probably don't all fit your requests, but I'm listing them just because they're metal) check out:
Agent Steel
Anthrax
Cannibal Corpse
Destruction
Exodus
Kreator
Lamb of God
Megadeth
Metallica
Pantera
Slayer
Testament
Venom
These are mostly older bands, all of them are pretty decent by some standard or another. A few aren't very well known compared to others. I doubt you'll like some of these, but again, they're all metal and they're all good.

Wrath, just for posting that you listen to Nightwish, you have earned my respect as knowing what good metal is. I saw them in concert almost three ago in NYC. Anyways, I was going to contribute to this topic as well, but all the bands I know of have been mentioned already. No point in being redundant.

Favorite song by Nightwish still has to be end of all hope.
Some singles of the metal I listen to.
Arch enemy - My Apocalypse.
God Forbid - AntiHero
As I lay dying- The darkest nights
As I lay dying - Forever.
Avenged Sevenfold - Unholy confessions
Between the buried and me - Alaska
Threat Signal - Rational eyes
Nightwish - Over the hills and far away.
Nightwish - Sleeping sun (This is more like English opera)
Norma Jean - Memphis will be laid to waste.
Dragonforce - Through the fire and the flames.
Darkest Hour - Sound the surrender.
Mudvayne - Death Blooms.
Mudvayne was the band that got me unto metal.
Thats all I can think of right now.
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

"Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

Try Three Doors Down, start with the some Home and work your way from there.
You're kidding, right? This thread is about metal, not whiny little boy bands.
Couple more reccommendations:
M.ill.ion
Powergod
Broken Arrow
Rawhead Rexx
All Power Metal.
