What do you guys think we should work on for our seventh Apoc in 08? If we want the day to run smoother what would you suggest?

Next year you should give us field managers either a cool hat or a jacket with "field manager" embroidered on it.

Double. Post.

"Things I learned from Apoc 2007" by Evil Angel.

- If its you vs. Vacc, just wait for Famine to intervene with friendly conversation.

- When 45 people are involved, Groove can disappear for rounds on end. I think I saw him twice all day.

- In the future, every field manager needs to bring flagging tape with them to their option fields.

- 9 z80 Nerfers are great, but I missed having 19.

- Belts or better fitting pants are a Nerf necessity.

- The Deal Curse is gone, I can play well on that field.

- Hersh has more pistols than pockets, but it doesn't stop him from trying to fit them all in his cargo shorts.

What do you guys think we should work on for our seventh Apoc in 08? If we want the day to run smoother what would you suggest?

What do you mean by 9 z80 nerfers are great, but I miss having 19?

z80's group has showed up to wars in the past with 19+ people. At Apoc 07 we restricted the turnout to 10. 9 showed up.

Oh, like at LCM or ECNO. I am a member of z80's group, so I know what you mean now. Our real name is clan nightshift; I'm not sure how we got that name, but it works. Ironically, we were forced to stop having night games by our local police department.
P.S. next time I will try to bring my wagon.

That definitely beat Apoc 06 as the most fun war I have attended.

What went well:

-Surviving a "30v30" round with all of my lives
-Leading a long Staggered Defense in a forest round that saved us from sure death [we nearly won that round]
-Snapping my 9 consecutive rounds of being on the tape team streak
-Representing the LCM after they all died in the Effeminate clan round
-Running circles around Nightshift when they kept saying they should kill me and then send one person at a time
-Picking off someone from Nightshift every ten minutes or so and not dying until just before the whole round was done
-Finding perhaps hundreds of converted darts after the war - I'm easily set for my next three wars
-Not passing out - I was designed for extremely cold weather, not extremely hot weather

What didn't go so well:

-Running down Evil, having my crucial shot miss, and feeling his shot find my neck
-Getting shot in the head during the second Civil War round
-Being careless with my last life in the first forest round
-Missing great opportunities with my wildly inaccurate Longshot

My only suggestion for the next Apoc is to not host it on the surface of the sun again.

Well what can I say about APOC!
Other than the fact that it was fucking awesome!

The day started out pretty rough. I figured coming from Canada was going to be enough to make a grand entrance onto the field with Mask/ Top hat and all. Before I even got out of the van I saw Evil and Shindig look over at my masked face with such a weird look on their faces. Those two came over and told me to take the mask off because I might scare the children. They were not being demanding or anything but were asking nicely and I am generally a peaceful guy so I did. However I was not pleased about it at all. I hadn't even left the parking lot and I was already pissed off.

Rambo, myself, Schik and Dk all trekked over to the destination point.
Upon walking over to the base site I noticed a lot of people and modded Nerf guns.
I started seeing familiar faces I had seen online. It was all so strange to me at first.
Introductions had begun and I started putting names to faces.

Doing this whole Nerf thing for the longest time made me feel like a certain little Bumble bee.
Approaching the base site made me feel like the middle of this music video.
Of course I was much more contained.

Favorite Memories:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shooting Hersh in the shoulder and leaving a big dirty welt.

Then later that day, shooting Groove in the neck with the same Pump action shotgun and leaving a no mark at all?

Walking out to the field talking to Skitzo I think, and a young-ling asked him when Forsaken is getting here.

Staring out at this tiny 6 year old kid with crazy hair. He looked like something I couldn't remember. It was driving me nuts until now. He looked like a Sun tot. Anyone who doesn't know what a sun tot is should check out this link. Smoggies and Sun tots.
At first I was very against playing with even teenagers let alone 6 year olds but everyone proved me wrong in the sense that they can be very mature when it comes to our crazy sport. That Sun tot impressed me though.
He ran like the dickens and was very sneaky. I saw someone shoot him with a nitefinder and the kid squeeked!
I couldnt stop laughing. He then turned around and raised his arms saying "I'm hit I'm hit" It was too cute.

later that day when I saw Dark Shrimp run up to the sun tot and shoot him when he was alone was the weirdest greatest thing I ever saw. Shrimp shot the sun tot and then raised his arms and cheered like he just won the lottery.

Getting 10 kills in my first team vs team round. My last kill being Vacc. (so proud)

Shooting Evil reaper from my pump action shotgun in the head from at least 80 feet away. His hair flicked up it was great.

Shooting countless people with my pump action shotgun. I seriously love this thing for its merciless range accuracy and velocity. I told you guys this thing would dethrone the crossbow. Now that you got to see it in action you know what I am talking about.

I can't believe how many arched shots I landed. I would range aim at a person who wasn't even on guard or aware I was aiming at them. All of a sudden they noticed they got hit and I am laughing from a distance. I doubt I would be able to follow the darts like I did with my eyes had my foam not been red.

Getting shot in the balls twice in one round.

Feeling my heart pumping strangely in the very last round thinking I was going to die. Telling my team to go on without me.

Hitting Badger in the head with two black cherries.

Hitting Hersh in the head with a black cherry who ultimately ended up blaming it on Rambo and hilarity ensued.

Getting shot by Schiks Rapid fire. After he stormed out of a bush to ambush me.

Going through a poison ivy ridden forest to flank the other team and run up behind them only to miss my shot fall on my ass and get shot. It was such an Effeminate opportunity.

Scraping my leg to shit dodging a shot from Vacc in the first team round.

Dodging shot after shot yelling "Olay"

Smoking one of Badgers cigars at the end of the day staring upwards at the tree line while laying down in the grass surrounded by tired and exhausted comrades.

Seeing peoples reactions when I would actually take aim at them with the Pump action after it had earned a name for itself.

Being approached by several nerfers young and old asking me what gun I am using periodically throughout the day.

While aiming at Captain Slug I was going to pick up a dart and my gun misfired and actually hit him.

Shooting a dart through a tree line and getting it stuck in someones stomach after they keeled over.

Hearing about how Rambo smashed a Maxshot.

Meeting Captain Slug, Vacc, OMC, Groove, Evil, Shindig and everyone else who has been doing this for years.

Running around and flanking people and realizing the intimidating factor that running and yelling has.

Hearing Groove yell "Your all banned" when we decided to team up on their group.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things I didn't like about the war.

The God Forsaken heat.
What seemed like desert crossing hikes across the park.
Not being able to scare the children.
The combined 14 hours it took to get there.
Seeing Evil get shot in the shoulder by Dk's AT3K and then calling it a skim even though I saw it change direction by at least 30 degrees. Schik and Dk also saw it go down but Evil refused the hit and kept on playing. This discouraged Dk so much he just sat down and quit playing. He does tend to completely give up over little things though.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So all in all I would say the Positive greatly out weighs the negative.
Because of this I am definitely going to be coming to another large war.
Thanks again to Rambo for being more than hospitable and dealing with my clan and myself for two nights.
I think I am just going to fly next time.
I have a few pics that are related to the war that should also be up in the next few weeks.

This has inspired me to try and organize a Canadian War. Myself, Schik and some others on the boards have already started talking.

I lost about 250 of my stefans at that war. I am not pissed about it but where did they all go? I would sweep the grounds after each round. I don't think there was enough people picking up others peoples darts to add to the dart pile. I wasn't doing it enough but I was doing it. I think people should have been instructed to do so at the end of each round.

Touche. This was the first Apoc the LCM hosted away from our home field due to the expected attendance. Normally, we are accustomed to using the same field at the same site all day. This means we are walking over our darts all day long. Grant it, the battle favors some areas over others.

I ultimately took that hit because one of my teammates saw it but didn't say anything while we were arguing about it. It might have been Dux who brought it up, not sure, but that hit was ultimately taken. I don't think I saw you guys later in the round so you might never have known that I took it.

The reason I argued about it was because it felt like the dart skimmed my head, and I guess it must have gone straight up following impact. I turned around to watch the dart fall behind me by more than 15 feet. I understand the confusion and I hope Dk isn't too bent out of shape about it. When we're dealing with relatively low velocity guns these kinds of things happen; it makes for awkward exchanges occassionally and arguments insue because some hits are so odd.

I wasn't trying to be a dick about it. I'd simply never been hit before and had the dart go (I'm guessing) straight up and fall behind me, and people on my team that were close to me also suggested it was a skim.

But, before the round was over I took that hit. No worries. No hard feelings. I hope it didn't sour your first impressions of me.

And about Apoc dart retrieval: I was too tired following each round to pick up darts. That's my excuse.

People rarely land neck and/or headshots on me. Props to you, my good sir.

I really wish we had done a few dart sweeps. I had to sit out a round just to find some of my own darts, for the sheer amount of shooting I did that day. Perhaps next year we can do that after a few rounds after using the same field a couple of times.

As for the organization, I think it was well-handled for the most part; however next year I'm feeling some Apoc Host / People With Authority™ custom T-Shirts. Nothing else says "we're awesome" like a bunch of matching Nerf-themed T-Shirts. Or perhaps that's "we're incredibly nerdy," I haven't quite decided yet.

I gave you and the piles the ones I found after each round. Many just sat in the piles round after round, I noticed because I'd always look in there, then leave in disgust after not seeing my own darts.

I actually didn't find all that many of yours afterwards, maybe 10-15. I'll return those to you at the next war i am able to attend. It's not my fault that I sweep for darts while others talk.

Edit: "Perhaps hundreds" was an exaggeration - I just counted 137, of which 14 are horsemen darts.

Did anyone get the infamous VACC vs. Groove showdown on tape, or was that missed in some ungodly poor timing on the cameraman's part?

We'll see when I watch/edit the whole video tommorow.

-Almost shooting the camera man about 8 times throwout the day, he was aiming that thing right at me, next time make him wear a sign or something, I would have actually pissed myself if I could at the time, turning around and seeing what looked like a gun from that angle, pointed right at me.

Sorry dude. I'll work on avoiding that stuff next time and if I do it again, I'll have no problem if you shoot me.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to alert everyone as to the status of the video.

It's done and uploading on google video as we speak. It's about 1/2 of the way done, and should be done around 11-12 tonight. I may be asleep then, if I am, I'll let it finish uploding overnight. Definatelly online by tommorow morning.

Highlights of the video:

-Another Evil Dodge in slow-mo

-Ted skipping merrily through the field

-Rambo almost breaking his Maxshot by throwing it on the ground

-Awesome combat footage from the civil war matches.

-The end after the credits, you'll find out what it is (I apologize to FA_24 in advance, it's only a joke.)

Oh, and the Effeminate Groove vs. Vacc showdown is not on tape. Sorry guys, but I was in Resurection Forest instead of Gunslinger Heaven. I know what one I'm picking next time though...

The gun is in fact rambo's. It was originally one I modded for him. He payed me for it so it was totally his. That video was awesome. It may be one of the only ones I've ever seen with ample footage of myself.

My highlights were rambo smashing the maxshot and my chase down of titan kid. He was really pissing me off at that point so I had to do something about it.

Good video indeed, but you need to update the credits. Howard and Mantis never showed. Death was not there. Dark Shrimp only had one person.
