More or less, he was attacking your personal choice because you saw it fit to skull fuck another user based on their choice.

The last thing I want is for this thread to turn into a fight fest like most other threads. This is simply to list your top movies and to comment on others movies. Not to argue about which movies are better because movies are solely based on opinion.

Oh, this will be easy.

In order:

5: Spaceballs (This movie is a classic, no mistakes there. It was hilariously well made, so it gets number 5 on my list)

4: Transformers (The movie was a balance of action and comedy. It had a lot of funny parts, big robots kicking the shit out of eachother and guns, so it gets the number 4 spot)

3: Saving Private Ryan (This was my favourite movie for years. Incredibly well made, action packed and gory fun for the whole family!)

2: Hot Fuzz (The same makers of Shaun of the Dead did this. All I have to say is that it's one of the best movies I've seen yet! There are a bunch of gun fights that are plain fun to watch. Loads of references to other things. Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz both have one short but particularily gory part through the movie. There is no doubt it gets number two)

1: Shaun of the Dead (This movie was AWESOME, probably the funniest thing I've seen in a while. A balance of action, comedy, horror and zombies. Definetely a must-see! Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz both have short but particularily gory part through the movie. This tops all I've ever seen!)


Some honorable mentions: We Were Soldiers, 300, the whole Alien qualrilogy, Fight Club, The Matrix, Die Hard and UHF.

We were soldiers made me loose a lot of sleep, it was the only one to do that in a while. especially the part where they were carrying the Asian guy onto the stretcher and his leg skin cleared right off the bone.

Black hawk down was a fantastic movie, I forgot to add that too my list, there is no greater fear than 2 little birds with mini guns and 2.75 rockets flying towards you in the dead of night.

V for Vendetta and Hugo Weaving and the bald Natalie Portman...I rest my case.


OH yes and after watching recent releases, Live Free or Die Hard and Transformers are on the top of my list now.

Yeah, that part in We Were Soldiers wasn't the worst I've ever seen, but it was rather disturbing. I still haven't seen Black Hawk Down or Live Free Or Die Hard. Transformers was excellent though.

As far as I can tell, none of you have mentioned "The Godfather" yet. Because of this, I feel that this entire conversation is void. I can't name a top 5 but I know of lots of movies I love for lots of different reasons. I think if I had to round out a modest top 5 it would include (in no particular order):

1) The Godfather - One of the greatest character-based films of all time. Pacino and Brando make this movie brilliant. Along with some excellent direction and memorable scenes/lines, it is easily in the top 5 if not automatically #1.
2) Forest Gump - One of the best scripts ever. Period. Well acted and lovable, the ending is brilliant/sad everytime you see it, even if you just flip to that scene.
3) Gladiator - Ridley Scott is one of my favorite directors, this movie is a combination of moving art and beautiful violence. Well acted, well written, well directed and enthralling. Revenge is a dish best served with a side-order of Russel Crowe.
4) Pulp Fiction - I was never a Tarrantino fan. Until about a year ago. Pulp Fiction is one of the coolest, smoothest movies of all time. Violent and hysterical. Mr. Wolf is my hero.
5) The Usual Suspects - Bryan Singer struck gold when he landed this script. I don't care what anyone says, he's a mediocre director, but even Brett Ratner couldn't fuck this script up. Don't let anyone ruin the ending for you.

I started reading this thread and after getting four pages in I had the same reaction as Evil. Any discussion on film that doesn't begin with Godfather is pointless. You're all obviously philistines. My personal order.

I can't put them in order...but let it be known that a LOT of what makes a movie a biggie in my book is often whether or not I like the soundtrack. Keeping that in mind:

Star Wars (for argument's sake, all 6 movies + clone wars animated shorts + 84 novels thus far = one story.)

Tombstone (OMC...I'll be your Huckleberry.)

MAJOR kudos to whoever has even HEARD of Uncorked (I'll KNOW if you're lying) and (even better) followed the story, wasn't bored by it, and understood everything at the end. It was incredible.

Falcon: Loved Gladiator and V for Vendetta, Batman Beginswas ok, and I've heard Braveheart was good, but I'm kinda sick of LOTR, I've seen them way too many times.

On another note, has anyone else seen Sunshine, which was recently released in certain theaters, or Appleseed?

My friend said Sunshine starts out pretty good, but then starts to lose it's appeal after 30mins.
As for Appleseed, (I'm guessing you mean the more recent one), yep seen it a few years ago. That Duenan sure is something...
The first few minutes of the movie just puts you in awe of her skills, and that fight scene with the 3 android ladies was pretty neat (I liked the way she committed suicide by her own whip).
The middle of the movie felt like a drag, too much talking, and the "enemies" weren't even great antagonists, they were just ignorant military douches. I guess the ending fight scene between the cops and the mobile fortresses kind of redeemed the movie a bit.

Battle Royale (Teenage violence anyone? Japanese movies are just the best if you want teenagers, who are actually the same age as their chars, kicking each other's asses)
Old Boy (It has one of the BEST fight scenes EVER!! Anyone that saw this movie knows what I'm talking about... 20 thugs VS Oh Dae-Su equipt with a hammer)
Gangs of New York (I just can't get over Priest Vallon's "Cross Sword")
and I find myself watching Jurassic Park (1st) over and over a lot... (It was a great movie, just admit it)

Also, this isn't a super great movie, but it's pretty cool. It's called "My wife is a gangster" (a badass gang leader who uses scissor as her weapon of choice... it's a trilogy but I liked the 1st the best... and I kind of got pissed that they replace the main char with a diff actress in the 3rd)

How can you possibly make this statement? Could you tell what was going on in the fight scenes? Seriously:
A) Jittery Cameras
B) At least 6 viewing angles that were jumped around to in the middle of the scenes.

If you completely ignore camera bits and such, it was a decent movie, but not great.

Now the only reason why Borne movies suck is because you dont know whats happening. The fucking camera changes soo damn much that the whole movie is dark and a blurr.

Not the best of all time, but the most influential in my life. (So best of all time to me)
1) Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
Best movie of all time. This was the one that started it all. Star Wars is the basis of my personality and being. To this day, I've seen it (including all revisions) 347 times (since I started recording, maybe more to 370-390). That said, I've never been to a Star Wars convention, never had the desire to meet George Lucas, or have any collectors items related to Star Wars.
2) Aliens
Future+Marines+aliens+another planet+drop ship+pulse rifle+motion tracker+power loader mecha=Everything that Star Wars missed of that eluded me. This is on the same level as SW, but since I saw it after I saw SW, it gets second place. I did have numerous action figures and stuff related to Aliens though...
3) Independence Day
Those aerial battles were kick ass, really, you can't say they weren't cool. This got me into airplanes and military technology, which then served as the base of the tinkering part of me, which is the base of Nerf as a hobby. I honestly wouldn't be here if not for Will Smith shooting a nuke up the ass of some pompous aliens. In all honesty, this is the real #1.
4) SDF Macross: Do You Remember Love?
My uncle showed this too me. I thought that the veritechs were awesome. He showed me Transformers: The movie, but the death of Optimus Prime in the first act and lack of actual humans made it not as appealing as Macross. Not to mention the giant super dimensional cannon on the SDF-1 (reflex cannon for you Robotech fans) is also kick ass.
5) Iron Monkey
This was the first kungfu film my dad showed me. Even though I couldn't read the subtitles (and at 5, my chinese was kinda bad) I thought it was pretty kick ass. Influential in the martial arts aspect of my life.

After much thinking, I've decided that these are not in order. All of them affected certain parts of me so I can't compare any of them.

Yeah! Murakumo, Aliens is also one of my favorite movies, although I kinda liked Alien: Resurrection more. Indepenence Day was also pretty good, and in SW ep.IV luke seemed pretty whiney, but I still thought it was pretty good. Not one of my favorites though.
