Thanks. That metal bar is a flat plate of aluminum. I used it to fill the hole where the handle used to be and stabilize the bike pump.

The bike pump fills the at2k tank in 2 pumps, but those 2 pumps will overpower the stock darts and throw them into a spin. I really like this gun!

I never cease to be amazed by your work. Again, very nice modification. But I do have one question, since you seem to have worked with DTG's and NF's; would a stock NF spring (old), implanted in a DTG, increase the range? If so, by an amount that would make the destruction of an NF worthwhile (I have 5)? Thanks in advance, and you've convinced me to buy a DTG set, as soon as I start at my new job.

Oh, and for the tank system, take a look at THIRST's semi-auto AT2k. Several people have built one. I was only able to get mine to shoot around 50', but THIRST had some better results, and I'm sure you will as well (I may have lost the o-ring in the turret, but it was so long ago I don't remember).

Ompa I may still have a NF spring if your interested. I'll send it to you for free if I can find it. I wouldn't destroy a whole NF just for the spring.

Carrtoon you have also convinced me to get that DTG. Although I only want one gun not two. I was wondering Carrtoon what do you use to cut your brass? Also is the bike pump removable? IS a bike pump the same as like a ball pump? Thanks

Thanks, your words mean a lot. Personally, I would not sacrifice and old NF just to put the spring in the DTG. The spring in the DTG is fairly powerful on it's own and an old NF spring won't do much more than it. (check your PMs.)

Thanks for the tank idea also... B)

Can anyone tell me what kind of industrial spring it is, and where can i find it around the atlanta area? I have looked at the local ace, and spring selection is terrible. Thanks. I really need to do this.

Theses things are sweet! If you want to do cpvc you can take off the orange part and glue the cpvc barrels to the white part of the turret, but you would need to use a fairly strong glue like marine epoxy or PVC cement.

Not a bad idea. I may do that if the nesting doesn't work out.

That's what I did to my DTG. It worked great but the barrel is sometimes a little sluggish because the CPVC adds so much weight to the turret. I used regular Epoxy, 4000 PSI, and It stays on no problem. I used plumber's goob to seal the rest of it up.

Carrtoon, I tried nesting it with CPVC but my CPVC was too large in diameter. Good luck with that. I think brass or PETG might be more appropriate and will save you a lot of weight also.

I would also like to know. I think this would be great so other nerfers don't have to fiddle around with different springs doing the whole open the gun,put new spring in, test the gun, take apart the gun pull spring out and cry because It was either too strong to wide etc.

Carrtoon this reminds me of the Supermaxxx 3000's. Ranges with stefans would be nice. Instead of 2 pumps at 85 feet you may be getting 95 feet out of a one pump gun that looks alot cooler and is easier on the hands and the eyes. Not to mention that you can just pull the trigger to rotate the gun.

Ok, I really should put this in my sig because I'm asked so much but the spring is 7/8x4x.080. The package looks like this:

Here is what the spring looks like compared to the old NF spring and the EX-3 spring, in their respective order:

Posted Image

I didn't have to do any cutting to get these to work. The only bad thing about them is that they do take some muscle to get into the cylinders and to cock. I have not had a gun destroyed yet with the powerful spring either.

Also, I've never seen one of the guns in the Supermaxx series. They intrigue me but I haven't had the opportunity to pick one up yet

As to stefans, I will get to work on the turret right away. I also can't wait to see the ranges this badboy puts out. I'm not sure if I mentioned this yet or not, but with each of my dart tags I increased the seal between the turret and the oval mouthpiece on the end of the cylinder. I did this by squirting hot glue on the ovular mouth and pressing against it with a cold, flat piece of glass or metal. This makes a completely flat, rubbery surface that really increases the seal. The seal is everything with these turret guns

I'm almost breaking 90' flat with two and a half pumps. Not bad for ten shots.

(The scope was just mounted as a joke for the picture. I don't really use it. )

I wonder with a strong spring, are brass barrels necessary?

I'd be scared shitless if that thing was pointed at me.

Again, excellent job; 90' is certainly very good for a gun with 10-shots and auto-rotation.

I see... it wasn't an NF spring.

I bought some new springs, but they're so strong that they shatter plunger heads and take super human strength to cock, so I'll try to find some 7/8x4x.080's.

Great job on both of them. 90' range with a ten shot? That beats the hell outta anything I've got... maybe 'cause I use tagger micros...

Damn you, Carrtoon! I just got a new gun, but now I'm gonna have to do this first because it's so damn cool! Oh well, it's no real loss to me: I'll mod it tommorrow. Right now I've got me an AT2K to gut, and some CPVC to cut!

P.S. Now that your DTG is probably a bit front heavy (CPVC and air-pump with metal mounting brackets) you've GOT to add a stock. It would just look so cool now that the barrels look larger (The OD of the CPVC) and the fact that the eye is naturally drawn there since the pump extends so far.

Put a nice stock like the ones Boltsniper makes (Like the one of the FAR and the SCAR-N) and it'll look as good as it preforms!

Sincereley,
Pat

I've got a 9/16 brassed DTG on the way. I finished the turret but I'm waiting for the spring. The brass barrels were put on by taking an inch of 17/32 and soldering 5 inches 9/16 to it. The 17/32 then fits in the turret holes, and the 9/16 brass sticks out.

Thanks. Neat. Make sure you keep me posted on your progress! I have'nt heard of anyone that has recreated any of the crazy mods I've done. I like to see this!

My 1/2" brass barrels were just a perfect fit. I hammered them in with a piece of wood and they turned out well...

I can't get any pics up at the moment, but it looks beastly. The spring is 4 inches long right? Ok with the stock DTG spring, the brass helps in no way, ranges greatly decrease. However, with the strong spring, the plunger will actually be able to support brass barrels, right?

Anyways, pics:

So I put in the spring, wrapped e-tape around the plunger head, for a better seal, and put hot glue on the white thing that touches the turret. I am getting terrible range. The total length of my barrels are 5 and 9/16 each. A one inch segment of 17/32 soldered in a 5 inch segment of 9/16 brass. If anyone could help me, that would be great. The last thing I want to do is saw down my barrels.

Huh. I'm stumped. The only thing I can think of is that gun may be firing before the hole in the turret gets there. The brass barrels on my blue one are a little over 2 inches long and it works great. Hmmm...

I bet it's the barrel length. But, I wonder if it's something else. You say you're barrels are over 2 inches? That means I have really long barrels. I'll try cutting an inch off. Also when i shoot the gun, without the turret, the're doesn't seem to be really much air coming out. Do you feel a blast of air come out when you fire yours? I took of the e-tape, but do you think replacing the o-ring would help?
