My question is about the new Big Bad Bow. I was woundering if you can use the modifications for the old bbb on the new one? If so then can you direct me to a good mod that will turn out with descent ranges. Thank you for your help.

The new one has some air restrictors that the old one didn't have. Here is an restrictor removal and barrel mod:

I haven't found one yet. The only thing I think you could do would be to add a stronger spring. I tried this, and I almost snapped off the plunger head. This has great range for just a restrictor mod, so I'd leave it as is

Replacing the barrel generally gets better ranges when a cylinder is that large with a piston S.A. of that magnitude.

General, I agree with the search issue. I also thank all of you for help with this subject and i will attempt this mod. I am hoping to paint it also. Any suggestions on colors?

I really need to update that BBB mod that was posted by Darkside. The ranges aren't great because my barrel was horrible. The actual dart was nested in 2 inches of brass and traveled out of about 10 inches of larger tubing, in which the dart did not even make contact with really.

Shortly after the mod I put in 12 inches of 9/16 brass and acheived far better ranges and more accuracy. I will get some new range tests done soon.

So my point is, do everything I did in that mod and have a decent barrel. You will get good results kids.

Just so you know, I searched for "big bad bow".

As for the mod, without restrictors, it's pretty much the same as the old BBB. Once you remove the restrictors, a mod for the old edition should give you about the same results on yours. There are lots of mods; Try searching here or on NerfWorld.

Well, I do have plans to get a BBB eventually...

Amazon offers them for $20. They used to have free shipping because of something with Toys 'R' Us, but I guess that ended. Now it's the usual $25 or more for free shipping.

Custom, By good barrel do you mean the one you suggested or could i use some cpvc, etc.

Yo FH, I think I'd prefer to get it for 19.95 + 6% tax here at my local TRU. I can also get a Mav for like $9 at my local Meijer...two Mavs versus one BBB? No one answer that; I wasn't asking a question to be answered...

I just took some ranges on my BBB. I'm using 12 inches of 9/16 brass with good fitting stefans, 1.5 inches long.

Wick, by a decent barrel I mean a barrel that is at least eight inches long and provides a good fit for your specific darts. You should get ranges close to mine.

Are you sure your measuring right? I've never heard of anyone getting 100ft flat with a bbb without a new spring.

Only one of the shots was 100', and those are very believable (SP?) ranges for a 12" barrel with stefans. My BBB gets 60'+ flat with mega darts firing out of the stock barrel without the air-restrictors.

Munson, they're at TRU for 20$, and it has also already been said that the new one is the same as the old one, just with some added air-restrictors.

There isn't a mod on the mods page, but there are hundreds of mods for the BBB in the forums, try searching.

"old" depends on your own perception. For some of the folks here, who have been nerfing for years, the version you see in stores is new. According to this thread, the only real difference is the new air restrictor.

I don't know why there isn't one on the modfications page. Probably because you could easily find one on the mod write-up directory or by searching. Shit, there have been at least 2 or 3 BBB mods in this forum in the past week.
