It seems like some people on NH are trying to make there guns safe and painfree. What is the point of this. If you are going to use a nerf gun, might as well give the enemy a reason not to get hit. There is nothing more satisfying than shooting your nerf gun at a shilouhette of a person from 20 feet away and hearing a screem followed by assorted profanities. Not to mention the perfecly round wealts. Pardon my spelling.

On the contrary. None of those sports really involve pain. Neither does nerf, but it stings and thats good enough for me. Plus airsoft hurts a hell of alot more than paintball. Plus i'd much rather play with purple guns. Thats what a real man would do. And nerf is soft foam, airsoft and paintball involve plastic. if you can make nerf leave marks, thats pretty cool.

You people just don't get it, do you? We don't Nerf because it causes pain, we Nerf because it's fun. I don't care if I get a welt or give a welt, or if the guns barely sting when someone's hit. Pain is just part of playing.

It doesn't matter if it hurts or not, as long as you have fun doing it.

But if you hit someone with kid safe foam! And they scream! It adds comedy to a war! Who cares how bad it hurts. The whole idea of soft foam leaving a mark is funny! Doesnt anyone see that?

Why get into paintball? It's expensive and you don't get to make the guns. Nerf is cool because its cheap and it's fun to mod guns. Making what would be a useless plastic gun have power is the cool part. It's a nice alternative, and usually pain and distance are very closely related, and distance is key.

In any case, I would rather have them feel my dart hit them, and then see proof of it because of a red mark on there face than have them say, YOU MISSED, and shoot you with whatever gun they have on hand.

Who is trying to decrease their nerf guns power on NH? I haven't heard of this. Paintball and Nerf aren't played for pain, they are played for fun. Both involve a little pain but neither hurts. I personally try to get my nerf gun's as powerful as they can potentially get. They ONLY thing I worry about when nerfing is my eyes. I got a HUGE blood spot over my eye from a STOCK dart from my NF. WEAR EYE PROTECTION and then play stupid. Also where can you get eyeware( No, I don't want to get an Nstrike set)? Any ideas of like clear sunglasses?

Use any safety glasses you can find at your local hardware store.

I'd try a hardware store. They make safety goggles that look like sunglasses now, however the ones I've seen have been rather expensive.

I just use the wierd Dart Tag glasses for eye protection, but you can buy a cheap pair of sunglasses at a dollar store and that works. :)

I have not seen anyone try to make their guns pain free, but people aren't trying to make them hurt, either. Nerf is about fun, not pain. (this has been said enough times in this thread already, but I said it too because I completely agree.) Wanting to make Nerf hurt more without a good reason is sick. We want to make our guns more powerful because its fun to mod your gun and use it in a war.

My personal favorites for eye protection are ski-ing goggles or paintball masks (cause they look so cool.)

In response to Shwifty's assertion that causing pain helps determine whether someone was shot or not, my friends work off something called the Honor System: if you know you're hit, or see someone get hit, just don't be an ass and lie about it. Not only are the games more fair that way, they're also more fun and challenging. Also, it's difficult to cause pain with anything smaller than a modded A2k anyways.

Has anybody else noticed this little circle of posters? It's a lot of the same members posting to each other, and it's becoming a lot like a chatroom. There is a PM option that loves abuse, keep that in mind.

As far as this topic goes, Nerfmonkey summed up what every Nerfer should feel in general. It's not about pain, even though it could heighten the experience; it's all about having fun. Just strap in for the ride and enjoy yourself. Darting about like greased lightning and getting the adrenaline pumping using a plastic toy is what we're talking about.

If pain is your goal, take up ultimate fighting. You have to put up with some broken bones and deep tissue contusions too, but hey, you're trying to prove yourself, right?

And if you absolutely need pain to call a hit, there's no honor system amongst your group, and it's a wonder you can enjoy playing any sport unless you cheat and break rules within your ranks. Play fairly = lots of fun, with or without pain.

Anyone who uses pain as a reason to validate their shooting hobby as being more 'tough' than another really needs some serious help. It's bad enough that airsoft guns look too real for me, and pity the one who would come traipsin' along this property with an Airsoft M4 or P90...I'd meet them with my .22 Ranch Rifle, Mk9 sized pepper spray fogger and my ASP baton...and I am trained in Fast Action Control Techniques.

Sure, they'd get a few rounds of BBs at me, even chip some teeth or punch some holes in me, but let's just say that I'd have them properly restrained in a few seconds. With pain. And law enforcement backup.

And Shwifty, did you ever find the Nerf warehouse? Lots of us are still waiting for an answer.

Did you guys really just fill up over a page with infantile penis waving about making your guns hurt? What the hell is wrong with you all? You know where this reasoning leads, right?

Guitar forum:
Dude, I use barbed wire to string my guitar becuz it hurts more - what, can't take it??? pussy!

Car forum:
Why don't you guys glue glass shards to the shifter knob like I do. It hurts a fuck of a lot more and it makes you more of a man.

Hey, the possibilities are endless!

To the people who are concerned because of the pain, you really don't have much to worry about because it doesn't really hurt much. To the people who want it to cause more pain, grow the fuck up kids.

Edit: Piney has been quicker on the draw than me several times now, but when he's right, he's right...

Yeah this topic is terrible, come on arguing over how to spell definitely. Anyway, not that I really like this topic, but I've been welted from nerf. Not painful, but I still have gotten bruises.

It might be "cool" to inflict some pain with a nerf gun, but I think I'm against people who intentionally do so. I think it's probably because of Talio. He's got this mantra that he makes his guns weaker, or even stock, just to prove people that he's better than them with a stock gun then they are with their heavily modded gun. However, I do think the dart velocity has to be fast enough for the recipient to feel it.
