Has anyone done one of those crappy things where you have to get others to sign up and complete a task so that you can get a free item?

i am not asking anyone to i am just wondering if it is true that they will give away free stuff. The site i am enquiring about is specificaly www.getitfree.net. because my gf decided she would do it because a friend of hers is doing it, and i want to know if there is any point in this except for promoting them?

It is most likely a virus. They make a really cool look advertisement to get you to click, and then it most likely ends up screwing your computer up. However, I have a friend that has done it before, and won a free apple laptop. However, I also have many other friends that have gotten virus' from doing it. So if you want to give it a try, go ahead. I believe the "task" you need to do is get some sponsors or something like that. Hope this helps.

Its not as such a popup. I got the link thru her friend, the site seems too overdone for a scam. The tasks are just signing up for websites or spending money on the internet. 1 of the tasks is to sign up for an ebay account and make at least 1 bid, it doesnt matter if you dont win

It's legit, to a degree. The sites often don't credit you for your signups and you'll have to do 7 or 8 things to get credit for 5. They rely on people doing 1 or 2 and giving up. Or getting 1 or 2 friends to do it, then giving up. It's 'multi-level marketing' at it's finest.

All those companies that you complete offers for are sponsors. They pay for a portion of the product whatever it may be in exchange for new customers that will hopefully become return customers...

Bear in mind that I know siblings who didn't speak to each other for years because of Amway. This is essentially putting your friends through a lot of crap they don't want to do so that you can get something free.

Also, to head it off before it becomes a problem, referral links for programs like this will not be tolerated on the forums.

Good luck.

Someone posted something like this before and tried to get everyone to help them out. Was is Grinch or something? I don't remember clearly enough, but this has come around before.

It's far too much trouble just for a bloody iPod that no one really wants anymore these days anyway. Your friends have to do a lot for you and get nothing in return.

Don't get sucked into this shit.

Not in the game anymore, but it was great while it lasted. Thanks for the great years of fun, NH!

I have seen it happen many times in the past where people try to get others to assist them on NH. Since i was bored today i decided to be my 5 friends so i done the same thing 5 times. It wasnt too much effort to do so i have a feeling that its faux. I was doing it for a video ipod then 2 sony handycams.
