I have been having this problem with all of my spring guns and I'm wondering if there is any way to fix it. My spring powered guns fire great, but when you fire any of them, there is an annoying ringing sound that lasts from 5 to 10 seconds. It sounds like the spring is vibrating alot. Is there a way to silence it? This generally happens to only my modded guns, but I have a few stock guns that do it, too.

I have tried putting FBR in the empty spaces of my guns to fix it, it didn't help. I have also tried supporting the springs with foam, and that didn't work. Am I doing something wrong in my modding, or do all spring guns do this?

In case there are different solutions to different guns, I'm having trouble with my BBB, NF's, Mav's, CF, and DTG's. Helping me get even one of these guns to shut up would be greatly appreciated.

Ya I know what your saying it's like a recoil. That only happens to my modded NF. Mine doesn't last for 5 seconds though. There isn't much to do to fix it but try one of the "silencer mods".

Yeah, my NF is the worst one. The ringing actually does last that long, and it sounds horrible.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try making a silencer.

Hmm foam craft sheet the plunger head and use fbr in cracks of the gun.

When you say 5 seconds, do you literally mean 5 mississippis?

Although it might be kind of obnoxious and disadvantageous if you're trying to be stealthy, if you don't find a way to silence the ring, it's really ok. I tend to think of the NiteFinder as more of a in-your-face magnum type pistol then a stealthy weapon. I mean, you don't really have to be sneaky about a backup pistol that fires 70 feet.

Just my two cents, you might disagree.

I glued felt around the plunger shaft near the plunger head. Worked great. You don't need that much either.

Yea that hapopens, and I dont know why it is but after I modded my NF, the spring sounds for a couple seconds. and do you mean a way to silence it or the actual silencer barrels?...would that work?

My NF did the whole ringing thing before I modded it. Part of the mod was wrapping the plunger head in e-tape. I'm not sure, but this may have padded the contact point of the spring and plunger. At any rate, it doesn't make the *PANG!* sound anymore, just the *pop* of the dart firing. I don't think that the other part of the mod (brass and PVC barrel) would have affected the spring noise.

Yes. It's actually 8 full seconds on my newer NF, and it makes my ears bleed.

I did the E-tape mod on one of my NF's, and its the only one that doesn't ring... I didn't think of that effecting it. Thanks for bringing that up. I'll see if I can silence the other guns that way.

I agree, but it's not that I'm trying to be stealthy. The noise is just really annoying and I can't stand the sound of the worst NF. It's actually bad enough that I consider not using it in wars, even though it does get great range.

since everyone said to pad the plunger head with something, I'll try that. I have put FBR it the cracks of some of the guns, but it didn't help alot. It did deaden the sound a little but not noticeably.

wouldn't felt mess up the air seal? what kind of ranges do you get with that one?

I know my BBB is the biggest instigator of this ringing. I haven't really tried to silence it yet though because I like the nice clang effect after I claim a victim.

I have silenced guns though. My best job was probably done on a NiteFinder. As Uncle Hammer suggested, I placed some foam crafter sheet behind the plungerhead. This prevented the spring from coming into harsh contact with the plungerhead as the gun is fired. The spring is what produces your noise. Cushioning the rest of the internals of the gun may help you some, but I haven't taken the time to do that either.

I haven't fixed the really bad NF yet, but I padded the plunger head of my favorite NF, and fired it:

Try lining the interior of the gun with sticky-backed insulating foam.

I had the same problem with my SSII,and this seems to have cured it to some extent. it still rings a bit,but not as loudly or in a form as dectectable as previously.
