So, here's the rifle.
Actually, I was just kidding. That was the core of the rifle. I designed the rifle in three parts; the main body, the clip, and the stock. Each was designed to be able to be removed to make the gun smaller, while still having a functional gun.
With the clip system (No clip, seeing it's just my clip that I've posted before):
All the parts minus the actual clip:
Weird angle:
Again:
Ranges with the clip are around 70-80; I detected no drop shooting level in my 60' hallway, so I think it's safe to assume 70-80, I'll get more testing done when I can.
Ranges without the clip I haven't even tried yet, but I'm going to assume around 90-100. Without the excess air space and air loss present with the clip, the gun shoots harder and farther.
Last step to finishing the rifle is to add a slide above the stock, which will both load the dart and prime the gun. It shouldn't be too difficult to do, I just need to sand out the area around the bolt a little so it doesn't have so much resistance to it.
All that's left to do is prime it and paint it pink. Ok, not pink, but definately not flat black; the police might try to kill me.
Oh, and as a little joke that Boltsniper suggested, I'll call it the SOFAR (Simplified Ompa Fast-Action Rifle). If you don't get the pun, I'll keep shooting you until you get it.

Your version of the FAR, is very impressive, and less intimidating. Not in looks, its just seems easier to make, just like you said.
As for the paint, I think if you are not gonna paint it black, you should go with an artic look, a desert look, with like a sandy color or something, or like a camo look.
I would go with a desert look, its the most original. But you know what to do, those are just some suggestions.

Not the NErf Assulf Rifle...I'm going to have to call dibs on the NEAR
That would be pretty cool.
This incurages me to get up off my arse and finish my FAR...

On the topic of Ompa's Far: Looks really great dude, I just don't like how the clip is so forward on the gun. I understand why it is there and why you may not be able to move it, it just doesn't look natural to me.

a.) Shorten the plunger
b.) Develop a more complex bolt/plunger combo like in the FAR.
a.) I'm definately not going for a rifle that shoots under 70'
b.) The thing was designed to be simple, not difficult.
Hence, I'm stuck with the clip location.
EDIT: And I just learned a valuable lesson. Know how to use primer, or at least have experiance using it, before you use it on something important. I definately went way too thick on the primer layers, and it looks like shit. So I'm going to have to sand the entire rifle down and do the priming over again. Shit.

If you have plans for how to make it, please post them!
As for a paint scheme, I would suggest black and neon green, always a good combination.

It's a lot sleeker than the far. I agree about the clip placement, but if you angled it backwards you could have a cool SMG-esque aesthetic going on.
I'm split right down the middle about Denaeron's post. I don't like gun plans because they tend to curb originality (unless it's something like the FAR which most of us wouldn't be able to design on our own). I love black and neon green, though. That would look pretty good on this gun.

The purpose of the gun is to basically demonstrate simple parts, that when put together, can work as a whole.
It may be slightly sleeker, but it's also definately longer. Since I didn't integrate the plunger/bolt, the gun itself is 4-5 inches longer than the FAR. Which is almost too long in my opinion. That 4-5 inches is gained since the clip itself is 5-inches long, and has it's own separate mechanism, instead of the FAR's integrated.

What's funny is that the SNAP came from wanting to learn elements of the FAR, and to eventually turn it into a simplified, full version of it....at which point I was gonna call it the SOFAR. ('cept that the O would have stood for "operation").
I'm gonna have to spend some more time looking at your design later on, see what I can glean from it....my bolt design was a bit too fussy to be practical.

I'm sure the FAR knockoffs will come soon. I mean, I have the SOFAR, and am working on a design (which all hinges on a new clip), which will just for the hell of it be named the NEAR (go Langley). Although I'll probably start that in a few weeks, soon as I finish up the finishing touches for the SOFAR.
As for bolt designs, try a variant off of the original clip I had. Just search ompa clip witha wide search parameter. It's extremely basic, and I'm sure you could make a more advanced design off of it.
Yeah, I've sorted the pictures out for writeups of the trigger and plunger, and I'll get around to making them probably within the next 2 weeks.
I've done a bit more testing with the thing, without the bolt handle being glued in (which does result in some air loss, as not having the handle in there results in the gun not shooting at all... The handle is basically a nail through the bolt, which results in 2 holes), and the shots are all over the place. Mainly due to the fact that depending on how the bolt handle is held, the holes may be more covered or less covered. But to the point; the ranges are anywhere from 65-80. I'm assuming that once I actually glue the damn handle in I should get around 75'. So less than the FAR, despite the similar plunger length. Although I think I can safely say my loss in range is due to the bolt/clip system.

First failed attempt at priming has yielded this:
I will try again sometime next week; I'll sand it down and probably scrap the primer, in favor of just painting it. I may go blue with some sort of accents, maybe silver. I'm not going for realism here, but for something that won't get me shot but still will look nice. If Baghead reads this, yeah, I'm open to suggestions man.

After epoxying in the bolt handle and adding rubber bands so it would return after pulling it back (rubber bands and bolt handle not pictured), I ran and did some testing before the epoxy was dry; I remembered afterwards I wanted to use JB weld anyways. Well, I can say with confidence that the MINIMUM flat range is 70'. It hits 60' with no drop whatsoever, and it's been raining/puddles all over the ground for the past few days so it's difficult for me to get out and range test.
