That sounds like a good idea to me, and also that way we're not going way to late and tired (from lack of sleep) for the next day.Oh,and should we start before dusk, so it's not like suddenly the neighbors see a bunch of guys running around in near pitch black with assault rifiles? It's just me, but if they saw some people running around with bright orange stuff before it got dark, they'd not be wo worrisome later on, as long as we're not yelling or anything...

On another note, who's going to be bringing obsticles to 'Geddon, and what kind are we going to need? Obviously, trash cans are good and not that hard to come by (provided we can get a pickup truck somewhere), but is there anything else we may want to consider?

I've already told my parents that I will be scheduling my lawn mowing the tuesday before Armageddon so that the grass will be picked up wednesday, leaving me with empty trash cans. We'll be putting our garbage in a plastic wheelbarrow we have. All 12 of my trash cans will be there.
No pickup needed. Nightwing's coming (remember?) so we got that covered.
Other than the trash cans, though, I can't think of a single thing that we'd really want to bring along. Most of the day will be played in the urban area anyway. There will be some CTF, but (as far as I know) the day will really consist mostly of west coast 5-hit in the urban area. And we don't need any more stuff in there...that'd just make it too cluttered. The only thing I think we'll be adding to that area ourselves is cones or something to mark the upper limits of the grass on the north side. We had a small bit of an issue regarding just how far from the building into the grass we should go. If it's too large of an area, then Tony (from bag's group) and some others will just sit up there being pansies and shooting at people with their LBB's from 110-120' away. If it's too close to the buildings, then there are a number of blind corners to be dealt with.
We'll see what distance from the buildings works best next weekend (April 1st) when Bags is in town and we have a skirmish in the afternoon. The day of, we'll use some orange marker cones or trash cans to designate the upper limits of the place.
Because campers suck, but blind corners suck more.
For those of you who are curious as to exactly what the hell you are to be expecting at this place (this is really for the out-of towners, but if you've never been there, no harm in looking), I drew up a map of the area when I got bored in my physics class. Granted, it's not really "scale" or anything, but the concept is there. I'm not trying to build the place, so it doesn't need to be perfect.
The areas that are grass have grass-like sketching on them (go figure) the central east-west corridor is raised concrete. The drop from the concrete down to the grass in the north-south corridors is only about a foot (not including the rail height). The blockhouse-type thingy on the south side is a 3-walled garbage dumpster housing thingy. The morning of, I'll get there extra early so I can pull the dumpsters out, flip the lids closed,a nd push them back in. No need to be losing darts in the trash cans. We play with the door to the dumpster corral unlatched, so it can swing in the wind, as well as be pushed for personalizing your cover. However, there is a 3-4" gap at the bottom, so your feet can still be shot. Also, we go freely in and out of the corral, so there's all sorts of opportunity for cover there. To the west of the blockhouse, that rectangle is a metal circuit box, about eight feet tall. It's always closed, so it's a good source of non-high-voltage cover. You aren't screwed if you touch it or anything.
The rails are made extra dark. It should be pretty obvious as to where those are...
On the north side of the grid, the grassy place at the top, the ground is level with the base of the builings. For about two feet. Then, it sharply inclines for about 3-4 feet, and then it becomes a more gradual, gentle slope. But that first dip makes it a sort of trench running the full length of the north end of the grid.
The areas with angled hatching on them are sloped walkways that lead to classroom doors. They are metal, and they have a slight ring to them when you step heavily. But it's not too bad. The arrows on them dictate which direction sloes upwards.
I really don't know if anyone at all will find this helpful, or if you all just think I'm retarded/obsessed and/or have way too much free time. I won't deny the last part about free time, but I got bored. So there.
But there were some mentions about "Anybody can win on their own turf". Granted, I can't ship Cullen Elementary School out to Jersey, but I figured I might as well bridge the gap a bit.
If anybody has any more questions about the place, feel free to ask.

If neighbors are cool, yeah. But if not, its best kept under wraps from my experince. I mean, at night, people RARELY see things. Specially when your playing a game to hide/sneak/etc around your opponent. I think I personally, after about ten years of REALLY nerfing, NEVER had cops called on us (Cept in LANOs/YANOs). Otherwise, security has driven by, and litterally watched us, curious as to who would win. We've had more night games than I believe any nerfer, on a golf coarse, and once again, NEVER had a problem, because, in my experince, its best not for the people to have a clue that your out at night.
Anyway. Well, I'm not sure about USING my Tree, but I may, it all depends on how I feel. You know me, I'll use a lightsaber, pistol, rifle, I'm not much for rapid fire, but mostly just use whatever fits me at the time. Dude...can't wait till 22nd. Me and Dan have been waring one on one. Sad...
Ok, anyway, let's drop the Night war thing, mostly spam anyway.
I want a big war for geddon. Not stupid big like we had a few years back, but BIG none the less.
Whats the head count for geddon? (Who MIGHT and who WILL)
And who from the East coast, MIGHT make it, and WILL make it?

On another note, we had a small 4-man impromptu skirmish this afternoon. Myself, Apollo, Sasquatch, and Snake got together and ran around like madmen. We all pretty much had a good day. Another police visitation withouth a hitch. Life is good.

I wouldn't relate the whole story to you guys, but it's pretty funny. You had to be there, but the way she was yelling...man it was funny.
Anyway, Snake was lobbing darts with a borrowed maxshot, and one of them magically decided it was going to hit my shoe. And get STUCK in it. He lobbed a dart, basically (if my foot wasn't there) INTO my shoe. I'm standing there thinking "That did NOT just happen..." and I say aloud "Son of a b***h."
Total slip. Not yelling or anything. Just a spoken exclamation.
I suppose understand where she was coming from/what she was getting at, but DAMN, that woman's voice was hilarious.
Out of nowhere, from the other side of the parking lot, we hear "WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE! YOU'RE AT AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!"
She had the whole "old woman" scratchy voice kinda thing going, too...Pretty funny.
Later on, Sasquatch and I were on the east side of the dumpster corral, while Apollo and Snake were on the west side of it. I vaulted up on top of the block wall, and began to creep across the top of it towards Apollo and Snake's end with my SF out. They have NO clue I'm coming, and just as Apollo's hat came into my view, again, from across the parking lot, this lady yells.
"GET DOWN! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE UP THERE!!!"
If the police aren't so nice to us in Glendora, I would've shot at her on the spot. So we called a quick break so we could move away from psycho PTA-mom.
MAN that was annoying.
It made me smile though, to think of what she would've done had it been 'Geddon...she probably would've had a heart attack. Thankfully, she was just working on some bushes or something in the planters on the face of the main building. She won't be there every week or anything.
I'm glad, for her sake.

It'll be insane, but they'll fit just fine. If there's really that many people there, then (this has been done in the past) they'll split it into two wars. Everybody'll eventually get to play everybody, but it'll get divided up a bit, so one group goes and plays CTF while the other uses the grid and visa-versa. Plus, as far as I know, there's supposed to be an East-vs-West bloodbath round using smaller, handpicked teams to "decide" this thing...
We'll MAKE 'em fit...
Oh, and to make things easier, I've taken to calling the "urban area" the "grid". We don't really have anything like the racquetball courts at Venado that we can name something cool like the "death cells" or anything, but we can at least be creative with calling the place something else...
For those who have been there, any ideas as to what to call the block house/dumpster corral thingy? I heard somebody (no clue as to who) call it "the block" yesterday when bags was here, but I really don't know...
So any suggestions would be nice...

Today, we (of course; it's routine, now) had another police visitation. Except this guy was being a butt about our playing amongst the buildings. He wasn't planning to let us continue in the grid. However, when he left and we were starting to grab all our crap to head over to another area (he was suggesting we just stick to the grass...) one of the custodians stopped him. He kindly informed the officer that as long as we're not skateboarding, the school has no problem with our presence. His exact words were "These guys are here just about every weekend, they clean up after themselves, and they're doing nothing illegal."
The cop came back and told us what the "final verdict" was.
Case closed.

Right now it looks like this:
Flight $350-400
Arsenal Upgrades: $30-40 --> would be easier if you guys used megas
Food: $75
Tank of Gas for poor unforunate soul that drives me around: $(I don't want to know)
Bottle of <insert alcoholic beverage here> for person who houses me: $(depends)
Wiggle Room: $50
So the way I figure, this trip is going to be at minimum (if food gets cut down by going to a supermarket, etc) a $500-650 trip. Obviously, I'll be able to save some money if multiple people are being picked up and houses by the benevolent soul who helps make this possible; we can split the thank you gestures I mentioned above.
In about a month, I'll want to know which East Coasters are serious about this, and which ones aren't. I am in a state of non-committal. I'll be able to post more about this in the next 6 weeks. Pray that airline prices don't go up any further.

As for the tank of gas, I'll probably borrow Julie's Prius so that's not an issue.

And as far as using megas and stuff, you should be fine just bringing a bunch of youre own megas, and we just won't pick them up. Dart recovery is pretty good, especially in the urban, so you should be fine, and we do dart sweeps fairly often, so I wouldn't expect you to loose too many.
These are just my thoughts. Ignore them if you want, I don't really care, just figured I'd share.

I'm perfectly fine with you guys shooting megas, quite frankly. If a decent group of you guys actually come out, there'll be megas everywhere.
If not, then well...yeah.
If it makes you feel any better, I might stick a piece of PVC in my back pocket and shoot a few back at you...
Regarding your whole situation...
Like Sasquatch said, I have quite a number of people who will be staying at my place. It is open if necessary. My whole clan (pretty much) plus AnyaSeijin and Daniel will be staying here with me (we've alreagdy got space worked out; there's more than enough room).
I don't know yet about rides from LAX/Ontario, etc., but if necessary (ie. if Cx isn't able to pick up anybody in particular) I'll offer my services as well.
About the bottle of booze...
Switch it out for a 1-liter of Dew, and you got yourself a deal.
It sounds like you may be staying with Cx, but since you're speaking about the housing situation out here, I'm putting my cards on the table for anyone who may be heading out.
So fill us in once you all know when you're heading out and what airport you're coming in to. If some of you have to come in at LAX and others into Ontario, I can cover one of them, np.
