Step 3: Buy a NF.
Blasphemy. I think you need to throw yourself against a wall, drive to store and buy yourself a brain.

Here's my Longshot. It has a 10" aluminum barrel that fits my darts loosely. It has a BBB spring and a plunger head reinforcement. Range is about 85-90.

This is my Nite-Mav. It's almost finished. I just have to readjust the trigger plate, but is otherwise perfectly functional. All of the pieces were made from 1/16" polycarbonate. The catch guard was secured using some epoxy gel and the trigger plate and plunger tube is screwed on. There is also a piece of polycarbonate up in the front of the plunger tube that redirects air only to the barrels.

These two Nite Finders are my new favorites. The first one is minimized and has ammo holders in the battery case. The second has a Home Depot spring, a longer screw supporting the plunger head, a reinforced plunger rod, and has been lubricated with silicon spray. I had to reinforce it because the force of the spring would cause the plunger rod to bend to the side.
What makes these two special are their barrels. I haven't seen anything like them before. The barrels are regular 1/2" PETG ordered from McMaster. I wanted a progressive barrel but I didn't want the added weight or the cost of brass. So, I ordered a .51 drill bit and a .53 drill bit from McMaster. They were each about $12.00. With the .51 bit I drilled about 4" from the top. And with the .53 I drilled 2" from the top. I was able to simulate the nesting effects of brass with PETG. It's the brass equivalent of having placing 1" of 1/2 and 3" of 17/32 in 5" of 19/32. These Nite Finders were intended as a prototype for spring powered turreted guns like the DTG and the Firefly.

Longshot:

As you can see, the Longshot has the integrated second gun. I left the trigger attached to it, just cut shorter (easier for me to use...and it detaches easily). The main gun has a massive spring in it and removed ARs, shoots a bit over 100 ft. I also took the ammo-holders from my Nite-Finder (I cut that part off to reduce size) and attached one on each side of the LS, as you can see, to hold extra ammo for the integrated gun.
Maverick:

Not much to say on this one. Pretty standard, AR removals and stretched the spring out. Also the RR mod. Since this picture was taken I have made the clip part swappable. The rings on the back are used to clip it to the bandolier I made (holds ammo, my Nite-Finder, and this gun, with clips at the bottom to hold my LS at waist height for carrying).
(Apologies for bad picture quality)

Anyway, Here's my singled Ls. I screwed up the part that lets it use magazines (the bolt), so rather than let it sit in my basement in pieces, I put a coupler on it and I'm pleased with it.
The paintjob and sling.

A shot of the coupler.

Another shot of the coupler.

As seen in the Rattler write-up thread. I just couldn't resist putting her up here too.

at MithMorchaint's Maverick. Could you tell us a little about how you did that?
PS: I love red and grey/silver like you cannot believe. And again,
It was pretty straightforward. I took it apart, sanded it, and spray-painted the whole thing with silver. I let that dry, then painted the red parts with red acrylic. After that dried, I weathered it with a knife to get the chipped look. Finally, I coated it with spray-on clearcoat, then put it all back together.
Really very simple, given you have the paints.

I'll probablty do it with the Viper, seeing as it will have to be based on one of those new, yellow/gold Mavs. I hate that recolor.

Shorty - you should consider attending DCNO which is held in Rockville, MD. Not sure how far that is from you.

Thanks ya'll. I used 40 grit paper to sand off the logo sign. I might go to the DCNO, when is it. I search for details later. I also just finish modding another NF into a PPK...not really but its without the silencer and with the stock laser.
