I have hade a sudden interest in buying some two radios. Im not looking for something that is a piece of crap toy, I want a good quality radio for a decent price. If anybody has any two way radios, what brand/model are they and how well do they preform? I would want one that I could talk at lease 3 miles away with, if further then its always a plus. So does anybody have any good reccomendations for some good two way radios? Thanks.

Can anyone tell me if these are worth the buy and at least somewhat live up to there 12 mile claim, im guessing thats for gmrs, but still. Is it at least a solid 5 mile range?

Well, it all depends on conditions. Geographic (hills, valleys, ect.), Electronic stuff (telephone wires, radio towers) and atmospheric conditions. I have an older pair, an.now adays, so they should be pretty good. Pretty much all 2 way radios that are above 50$ are good. I am not sure about ranges for these specific ones, because I do not own them

My friends purchased the Garmin Rhion 110, they like it very much however they don't use it to the full extent of the radio. However, for what they do use it for they are very much pleased.

The current replacement for the Rhino is the GPS 60, which does basically the same features.

These radios are very good if you are a serious hiker because they give you GPS location, Rendezvous point time, individual distance from the Rendezvous point and much more.

If you still aren't satisfied then you could go with the GPSMAP 60, much more fnctional, much less practical.

And as they say about price, "If ya gotta ask..."
