I just got the new Nirvana Box Set: With the lights out, and I absolutely love it, I hadn't listened to Nirvana for a long time but now I'm starting to remember how great they were. I was wondering how many people had heard of Nirvana and if they like them or if It's more of a Seattle thing?

I was wondering how many people had heard of Nirvana...

Have you ever heard of Rolling Stone magazine or MTV?

Nirvana was huge in the 90's, along with the rest of the Seattle grunge scene.

I'm a fan, though I may be biased since I think the best thing to come out of Nirvana was Dave Grohl. Nirvana is more than "known", they are still really popular. Anyways, my favorite Nirvana album is the Unplugged MTV performance. Something about how stripped down it is. Or it could be the fact that I'm not as angsty as some of you kids out there.

Mmmm, angst. I never got into them mostly because they did what they preached against.

Cheese... no offense, but its possible to not have heard of Nirvana? Nirvana is awesome... Kurt's lyrics are amazing. He may not have been a very good guitar player, but his songs... man.

Nirvana is the best band ever to walk the face of the earth. Not only are his lyrics amazing, but so are his guitar playing skills. He's not the best guitarist, ill agree, but the way he was able to just meld his voice with that of his instrument...Too bad he blew his head off.

Ok, I am not a huge Nirvana fan, I like Nirvana music, but I don't think it's anywhere near "the best". It's very enjoyable, though.

In any case, my point: They did not perform what they preached against. You are a scallywag. I would like to see your counter-argument and give me a few examples... mostly because they rarely preached.

Nirvana was pretty good in their day. I still listen to them once in a while.

Too bad that many other watered-down bands have taken over mainstream music. Makes me want to never forget the good times of MTV during the early to mid 90's.

And you have shown everyone you don't know a thing about Nirvana.

Listen to before a football game? Nirvana songs don't pump you up, they mellow you out, in my opinion at least.

I heart nirvana.

I don't mean they went around preaching on their soap boxes, I meant the opposites attitude they had towards things they did some of themselves.

I have nothing against them, I just don't dig their music, it never sounded all that special to me.

They're pretty good, but they're also the most overrated band of all time. You can't argue that.

Deffinatly. I'm sorry but Kurt whines too much in his songs. Not my taste or style of music. Don't fight back saying he doesn't, you can't change the song, it sounds like whining to me. Atleast some of the songs I've heard.

Nirvana never caught my attention, or ears. I don't like grunge that much. One thing that annoys me is how Kurt couldn't take the spot light, so he took his life. If you're going to take your band seriously, and start making a little money on the side, be ready for some hard times is all I can say.

I just never liked them at all.

Not in the game anymore, but it was great while it lasted. Thanks for the great years of fun, NH!

Nirvana wasnt all hard rock or grunge, they had a nice little mix going. And he didnt take his life because he wasn't serios or had tough times, he was a heroine addict.Even if he hadn't killed himself, Courtney love would've killed him anyway in one of her drunken fits.

Im sorry, but Nirvana was not the greatest band of all time, or even one of the best. They might be one of the best bands your local pop station plays, but if you ever expand your horizon a little you will find there are many much better bands out there.

Dont get me wrong, I love the music and listen to it, but that doesnt mean its really all that good. Kind of like my love for the Blade movies. (Holy shit Biel is hot)

Nirvana's good. I haven't listened to them in a while, I might be getting the Box Set this Christmas. What is better is Sonic Youth. My musical tastes evolved from The Smashing Pumpkins(sucky) to Nirvana(pretty damn good) to Sonic Youth(fucking awesome.)

Please tell me this post was sarcastic...
Sonic Youth really is not very good. Their sound, their lyrics, their playing... I just... What? Awesome? Ugh. The Pumpkins were better, and thats not saying a great deal.
