Hello everyone, I'm hoping you all can school me on the newer Worker abs plastic flywheels. I currently use the older white concave vertical toothed Worker flywheels in my stryfe and love them, but am curious if there is a difference between the older white one and newer black abs concave vertical tooth worker flywheels other than color? Also noticed you can get the black abs concave worker wheels with either vertical teeth like the old white ones, or with diagonal teeth. What if any differnce would vertical teeth vs diagonal teeth have?
Are the newer blcak abs wheels as light as the older white abs wheels?
Please school me on these wheels.

For clarification, I assume you refer to

Original:

Vertical:

Diagonal:

The black ones are higher crush flywheels, looking at the product dimensions. Do note though, while they advertise as adding 1mm of crush, it's really only like 0.7-0.8mm, which isn't a huge difference, but it's worth noting.

The vertical vs diagonal I'm not sure about, but generally grooves are considered bad for performance long term since they inhibit foam buildup. In this case it looks like the diagonal toothed ones have less severe grooving, so I'd recommend those from an analytical perspective, but there's not much empirical data to back that up IIRC.

Thank you.

Anyone know the difference between the straight groove and diagonal groove flywheels?

I currently use the white worker abs wheels and thinking about switching to the slightly higher crush black worker wheels but don't know the difference between the straight groove and diagonal groove...

Both white and black straight groove wheels are the same style. The difference is the white ones weigh roughly around 4g while the black wheels weigh in around 6g per wheel. The black ones are roughly 1/2mm bigger than the white ones hence the extra weight.
Don't know much about the oblique wheels.

The diagonal groove one will increase friction, improve the initial speed and range of darts and Improve range and accuracy based on original equipment

I would think the diagnical cut wheels are no different than the other 2 worker wheels.

It looks like (from what Worker says) the diagonal groove wheels "increase accuracy" while there straight grooved wheels "increase power", but I will wait to see some first hand reviews before replacing my older white worker flywheels with newer black worker wheels

I have several modified Stryfes that utilize all three types of Worker flywheels on the same basic motor/battery platform.  Although I'm not able to quantify it with meaningful data, I prefer the diagonal grooved flywheels.  They are generally more consistent with all dart types, with fewer shots headed off into the weeds.  I have found no significant difference between the white and black versions of the straight groove flywheels.  The white ones appear to spin up a tad bit faster, but the extra mass of the black ones performs better when firing in rapid succession, most likely due to the minor difference in momentum. For casual Nerfers who don't have high performance blasters, there is probably little appreciable difference.

Generally I find that none of these Worker flywheels have any foam buildup.  I don't believe this is a factor with this type of flywheel.  On smooth flywheels, a good coating of foam increases the coefficient of friction.  On grooved flywheels, the mechanical locking of the grooves and the foam provides equal, if not better friction. My experience has been that most darts exhibit less wear and tear with the Worker flywheels.  I attribute this to less "dart burn" than conventional flywheels. The long-term difference is quite noticeable.

All in all, I think any of these three Worker flywheels is a good choice. We could spend hours splitting hairs, but the bottom line is all of these are better than stock flywheels. You will be happy either way.  Especially with the diagonal ones.

Do you find that the black worker wheels are slightly larger diameter, creating more crush than the white worker wheels? Or are they the same diameter/crush?
