So our hosting made some unexpected changes which broke the site, and after trying to deal with technical support people from two different companies and a database that resembled a dumpster fire, I gave up and reset the site back to the latest viable backup (thanks to Doom for providing backups).  We lost about a weeks worth of posts, but the problem appears to be resolved.  Thanks for your patience during the downtime.

Thank you Doom and Langley. I've been on Nerf withdrawals and having to sustain my fix on [shudder] Facebook Nerf groups these past weeks. It's good to have you back, darling.

It's great to have NH back, thanks for fixing it.  When NH goes down, modding goes back to 2005...the social media groups and channels are NOT a replacement for NH guides and write-ups...

Was this a reference to Edgar Allen Poe?

Indubitably.  Would you care for a glass of sherry as a reward?  Follow me to the wine cellar...

Sorry to disappoint, but I don't get that one. We read some Edgar Allen Poe last year (mostly on a webquest), and I haven't read much outside of school. Though I did get the first one.

Anyways, no underage drinking. Do you have any root beer?

FYI: Still intermittently getting this message:

Warning: mysqli_query(): MySQL server has gone away in /home/nerfhaven/nerfhaven.com/forums/ips_kernel/classDbMysqliClient.php on line 234

Warning: mysqli_query(): Error reading result set's header in /home/nerfhaven/nerfhaven.com/forums/ips_kernel/classDbMysqliClient.php on line 234

Not sure if it's a cache thing on my end or not.

Under what circumstances are you getting that message? Steps to reproduce the error on my end would be ideal.  Also, if it may be a caching issue the best thing to do would be to clear your cache completely and see if the problem persists.  Instructions on how to do that can be found here: http://www.refreshyo...he.com/en/home/

I got that yesterday around 2pm also. Then 10 minutes later I got the

"something fucked up, though it may not be on your end." message.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

Really hard to say; I type 'nerfhaven' into the (firefox) browser bar and sometimes the error message pops up. Sometimes it doesn't. I think it happened to me for a few different saved NH addresses (homemades, index, etc.). It didn't happen just now, and when it was happening yesterday I could still get around it using one of the addresses I had stored or a link to a deeper page. I've cleared the cache now, so hopefully it's just gone. It happened right around the time I made the post yesterday, maybe -40 minutes.

Happened again just now. Most of the links I tried didn't work, eventually /index did. Clicking on things once the site loaded also brought up the issue; persistence won out over any change in behavior.

I had the same thing happen last night. I was browsing the forums and everything was working, and all of a sudden, I got that when I tried to view a thread in Homemades. I went back to the main forum index to try to post in here, but clicking on the link to this thread produced the following, different error message:

An error occured with the SQL server:

This is not a problem with the IPS Community Suite but rather with your SQL server. Please contact your host and copy the message shown above.

Obviously everything is working fine now, but when it sprung up last night, I couldn't view any part of the site, even pages that had just worked two minutes earlier.
