This was the best NIC war I have ever attended. I think this was an improvement from last year. 12/10 would nerf again.

A big thank you to everyone who helped setup and run rounds. Another thank you to Tyler for letting me sit under your tent. A very big thank you to Langley for running the war and for letting me be team captain for carpe.

Pros:
  • Seeing old friends as well as meeting new people and talking with guys who I haven't seen in several months or just a few weeks.
  • Fast warm up time which allowed me to reach a higher level of playing faster.
  • Nick's team wining freeze tag.
  • Lunch was fast.
  • Speed rounds were great. Nick, Jboynerf and I on a three man team wining three rounds in a row! Then switching over to the PA Power clan and wining more rounds! You guys are the best!
  • The age gaps were fun to play with in the speed rounds, however half of my team ran once the round started. I think this was better than playing slaughter.
  • Kill confirmed was awesome. Great teams, better outside, and engaging.
  • Being team captain with Nick during carpe.
Cons:
  • Got there late because of traffic.
  • Uneven teams during the last three rounds. My team never lost.
There will be edited first person footage of the war on my YouTube channel in a few weeks.
Exceptional war guys. See you all in September!

My voice is totally gone. I'm sore in the weirdest places. The skin on the back of my neck is about 20 shades darker than the rest of me. I might still be a little hungover, or dehydrated, or both. My car is still full of the odd accumulation of plastic toys and camping gear that follows me to apoc, probably slowly growing mildew or melting into a puddle of molten plastic depending on whether I remembered to park in the shade. Someone said to me yesterday that it would be easier to clean up and get a group photo if we didn't all just play to exhaustion while everyone trickles out, and I replied that the POINT of Apoc was to wear you down to nothing, and take everything you have left over at the end of the summer. By that measure, I think Apoc was a success.

I'd like to thank everyone who came to Apoc this year for your participation and cooperation. Despite getting a late start, and dealing with typical brutal NJ summer heat and humidity, we still managed to pack in a ton of play without too much downtime. Your enthusiasm made that happen.

I also want to thank everyone who made a long drive or flight to get here. It's always good to put a face to the name and meet people who we've been talking to online for years, and to see all the old familiar faces who keep coming back for more. It wouldn't be apoc without that family reunion vibe, and I appreciate you making the long and arduous journey to the sunny and beautiful state I call home (or the hellish nightmare of potholes and shore traffic you all call "fucking jersey")

Finally I want to give special thanks to everyone who helped with hosting and organizing this war, whether you stayed to clean up, ran a few rounds, helped me set up camp, or picked teams. So many people chipped in to help out and make this war a success, and it never would've worked without all of you.

Highlights:
-Meeting a ton of new people from all over, including the south east guys and the Cincinnati group. Chicken, I think you're the most outgoing and enthusiastic out-of-towner we've ever had. Zax, it was great to finally meet you, you've come such a long way since you broke out of Groove's organ harvesting clone vat. I wish I had had more time to hang out with NoM and Father Time and everyone else who made their first cross-country trek to Apoc, and I'm looking forward to seeing you all again next year.
-Gears, I'm so glad you were able to cross back over from beyond the grave for this. Between you and Groove it felt like the family was back together for the first time in years.
-Groove. Holy shit. We have had someone fly in from LA for Apoc, and now we've had people drive up from the south east for Apoc, but you did BOTH in the same weekend. I think you might have set an unbreakable record for distance traveled. Even if we get Pineapple out here one day, you'll always be the one who traveled the farthest in the continental US to get to this war. Now I HAVE to come out to Geddon again next year.
-Zorn, you're becoming a staple of every major war. Thanks for helping out and taking lots of photos, I can't wait to see them.
-Xellah, it's always good to see you and your group at Apoc, and you and Chris were a huge help setting up in the morning. I'm going to try and make it out to Hell this year if you're running it again.
-All of the new stuff we tried this year worked out reasonably well. I've got a couple of kinks to work out in wild card deathmatch, but I definitely think it will come back again next year earlier in the day. I don't think we would have squeezed in as many rounds in the grove if we had had to pick teams again.
-I'm also really happy with the superstock rounds. Giving everyone a choice was the right decision, and it was a good opportunity for all the stock darts/HvZ guys to get their kind of play in. There was still a lot of down time between rounds for reloading, but not as much as I had been led to believe. It was fun to play with such an odd mix of people playing with such different blasters, and having to get right on top of someone to guarantee a hit is a nice change of pace at Apoc. BPSO's swift retribution with his powerclip stands out, but there were a lot of fun moments during those rounds.
-I heard the kill confirmed version of freeze tag worked out really well, and that will probably become a permanent addition, so thanks for that to Chicken and NoM.
-It wasn't as hot and humid as 2012, so that was nice. Here's hoping for light rain and cloud cover in 2016.

Regrets:
I didn't leave myself enough time to get through traffic in the morning, and we could have gotten started on time if I had been on site earlier. I think this worked out to a point, because so many other people also trickled in late, but next year I'm going to make sure we're ready to start a round at 10 with whoever is ready to go right away.
I didn't get to stop and take a breath until well after lunch, so I couldn't socialize with as many people as I would have liked.
I wish I had asked to borrow Ted's old snap earlier in the day. Nerfing is a lot more fun when you can actually hit something.
I think I'm either going to retire Carpe at Apoc, let someone else run it, or move it to another area. I'm suffering from Carpe Tunnel syndrome.
I forgot to wear a watch, which is like the most important thing for me at Apoc.

Compalints:
I had one big issue this year. The staging area was a disaster at the end of the day. There was an unbelievable amount of litter on the ground, especially near the striped canopy next to mine, but also throughout the rest of the staging area. A very small group of people stayed late with me to help clean up and dispose of all the trash including Miguel, Whitebeard, Alphatrooper, and Koree, and we filled a large trash bag and several smaller bags with empty bottles and other garbage.

It's totally baffling to me that this is a problem. When I attend a war, if I have a drink or eat a sandwich or something, I stuff everything into my bag when I'm finished with it so I can throw it away when I get home. This is how it needs to be with everyone. I shouldn't have to wander around for an extra 40 minutes after everyone else has gone except the few who took pity on me, emptying out water bottles and dragging trash bags down to the parking lot. If everyone put it 1% of that effort to keep from littering and to pick up anything they see while they're packing up, it wouldn't be an issue.

The thing to remember about this war is that we don't have a permit or any special permission from the park to be here. The police are aware of us as the 'Nerf Guys' and they tolerate us as long as we don't bother anyone. If we give the Parks Dept. people a reason to want us gone, that's it. No more Apoc. The litter problem needs to stop. I'll bring it up again next year before the war, but everyone needs to add an empty trash can liner to their kit and do a quick sweep before they can leave next year. Nerf Out, Trash Out. I'll put that on the fucking bandannas if I have to.

New Jersey, where it's against the law to pump your own gas, but you have to serve your self at Burger King? Really, over $9.00 for a Whopper combo? Anyway....
OMFG!!!!!!! Langley mentioned my name "I wish I had had more time to hang out with NoM and Father Time" Total fanboy moment...lol
First time at Apoc.
Had a great time, met a lot of new people, saw a few old friends. I think I will be adding the "Freeze Tag" to the C.A.N.E. playlist. (Thanks Nom and Chicken)
I too though Langley would have been "scarier" I think was the phrase someone used.

PROS: Just getting to Nerf with so many of the people that I read about and talked to on the Haven.
Seeing old friends, meeting new ones
Finally getting my Snap and RSCB going and getting some good hits
Seeing that beautiful blaster made for Ted (?) by JLego, dude that thing is the porn star of homemade blasters.
My team pushing 5 or 6 guys into a corner in "Freeze Tag" while I was loading and then me coming in and wrecking the group to the point where the last guy just surrendered. Good thing too, I was out of AMMO

Cons: Getting to "F ing Jersey" to find that the room you had reserved was horrible and having to find another at 2AM
Paying over $34.00 plus the highest gas prices of the trip to cross PA.
Waking up and seeing Tomorrow's Darkness first thing in the morning and having to go into the bathroom after Odep had been in there.
Driving all that way to realize I was missing a crucial part for ALL of the homemades that I built for my crew, then finding a hardware store close(The house across the street had a couple guys washing a Ferrari and a Bentley in the driveway) and finding that the 90 degree elbows I bought there taper on the ends so they wouldn't stay in place. I know they say "Everything breaks at Apoc" buy I would have liked to have started as soon as I got there and had to fix later...lol
Walking onto the field in a Speed round, Langley saying go, and me realizing that .....MY BARREL FELL OFF COMING ACROSS THE FIELD, didn't get to fire a single shot before I got out.
Didn't get to meet SublimeDom in person, we could have had that Cincy/Pitt battle we talked about for so long...lol

All in all, I would definitely go again, just have a vehicle with AC and bring more money ;P

Any of you guys are more than welcome to come play in Cincinnati, C.A.N.E. will welcome you with open arms (Unless you're from Pittsburgh or Cleveland)...lol no really come join us on any given Sunday, wait is that copyrighted?

Ask her if she wants you to give her a multiple orgasm.
And when she looks stunned show her a picture of the blaster.
But if she gets excited. You're in.

I had a great time, this was my second war in the past 4 years and it was fucking fantastic, the heat was bothersome but it didn't seem too bad to me.

Pros too many to list but if I had to pick one it was meeting everyone.

Cons
Arrived late
3k leaked 1 hour into the war
The garbage

I had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone. I can't wait to attend more nerf Wars in the future.

Shade/guy with evil 3K from hell.

I had an amazing time nerfing with everyone at APOC. Here's some of my highlights!

Pros:
Meeting everyone that I've been talking to online and more. You guys were awesome and it was great getting to meet you in person. It was also really nice having said people specifically pick me for games. ~swoon
Getting to shoot all those people.
My first full-blown NIC war! I got to run around with a pumpsnap and a sceptor, and had a ton of fun. I felt so outpowered with my Xbow, which is something new and it's pushing me to finish my internals on it. It's a great feeling.
My slugs were amazing.
I wore myself out; I've never ran so much and nerfed so hard before in my life.
Tons of compliments on my Xbow (BBQ Chicken) by a bunch of people whose input means a ton.

Cons:
Not getting enough time to hang out with Drac, Chicken, Langley or anyone else.
Getting there late because of crap we needed and leaving early because we barely had any sleep and we were already getting home at 6 AM.
13 hour drive to APOC.
11 hour drive home.
Somehow forgetting the most important piece of my blasters; The hopper. No clue how I forgot it.
Coming home with maybe 500 slugs out of 1200+
Being too shy to go up to the Wonder Twins and plenty of other people whom are my nerf idols and meet them. Hopefully I get a chance to next time I nerf with them.
NOT GETTING A CROSSBOW PURPLE BANDANA. Really sad I got there so late, because I desperately wanted one of these. :/

I cannot wait for next year, but I'm going to try my darnedest to take a flight there next time. Thanks for hosting such an awesome war, Langley!

This war was absolutely fantastic, nothing short of spectacular, stupendously satisfying, fundiferously slaptastical, and so on and so forth....

I'm so glad I didn't miss another Apoc. I've been bummed out of my mind every time I missed one and this was a great time for me to get back in, now that I have a job to support the hobby! Though I myself had no preparations this time I used my friend's Snapbow the whole game with a ...satisfactory performance, Except for the first carpe game when I. HIT. NOTHING. The whole fucking round!

I got plenty of pictures this war, and i intend to share them all. You can Czech out my album here (Apoc 2015) and without further adieu... We shall start the slideshow

Go-Pros armed and ready. Bandana on his bicep already, knot tied steady... (there's a little bit of eminem free-style to get the crowd stirred up)

There were MANY Go-pros this year. When all the videos come piling in I don't doubt there won't be an angle of the war unfilmed.

Ok so apoc was absolutely amazing. I must say, now I finally see what all the hype is about. I honestly can't wait for next year and to see everyone again. To the south east nerfers, you guys brought so much to the table and made each round more difficult than the last. Honestly to everyone I met, I want to say thank you, you guys seriously brought me in with open arms, even though it was my first apoc and not many people would do that. I want to thank Langley for hosting the event. And I want to thank aeromech for the blaster. I can't wait for the next apoc and the next nerf war. I plan on attending more this upcoming year so hopefully I'll see some familiar faces around.

Also, to everyone who was asking about the shotgun grip I had on my retaliator, I spoke to the guy I got it from and he said he will do another batch of them after September 1st. He provided me with this link to give to everyone.

To say my APOC experience was great would be an understatement. I've been dreaming about going to this war for nearly 7 years, and fulfilling that dream was nothing short of incredible.

I could never have done it without my friends: NoM, Drac, EOC, Draculina, and Red. You know you've got a great group of friends when you can road trip from Georgia to New Jersey and back, and love almost every minute of it. Thank you.

And now, my highlights from APOC 2015:

+ Rolling up to the parking lot and literally jumping around out of excitement. We were up late marking darts, and our motel was 45 minutes away, so we got there later than I would've liked, but fortunately for us the war started a bit slow.

+ Meeting and Nerfing with so many awesome people that I had only heard about and interacted with online: Gears (instant BFFs), DX, JLego, Langley, Ted, Miguel (super fast friends), Lucian, tomorrowsDarkness (finally!), Nick, Dan, Chris, Xellah, hoongfu, randomshadow, Corbett, joedimarco, Koree, Zorn, Shoopy, Gates... I'm so sorry that I can't remember everyone's names, but if I talked to you at all, just know that I loved every second.
+ Meeting, and more importantly, shooting Van James.

+ Seeing Vlad and Groove again.

+ Introducing myself as "the dickhead who runs Nerf Modders Welcome"

+ My aim wasn't quite consistent, but man my dodging was on point all day.

+ Super satisfying, high-level play with Gears and DX, among others.

+ Using my primary Crossbow, Chickenbow Rev. 3. Lots of kills, lots of compliments, and any malfunction was repaired between rounds. Still totally in love with it.
+ Using my backup Crossbow during various speed rounds and deathmatches. It didn't break when I expected it to, and shot even better than my primary one.
+ Used my Arrowstorm surprisingly just as much as my Crossbows. It held up so well, performed admirably, and even got some favorable comments.

+ The speed rounds may have been the most fun I had all day. Langley did a great job at organizing them on the spot and running them efficiently.
+ Teaming up with Gears and Ted during the aforementioned speed rounds, and being one of the only 2(?) teams to go undefeated.

+ After the speed rounds, a low-key 5v5 2-life round with Miguel, Roboman, Nick, Lucian, and others that was incredibly fun.

+ Van throwing an Elite dart and hitting me. Hilarious, but absolutely didn't count ;P

+ Actually getting the opportunity to run 3 rounds. At APOC!
+ The Freeze Tag: Kill Confirmed rounds being well-recieved.
+ Finishing our 3 rounds just as the superstock group started its last one, and being able to film that entire round.

+ Having around 3000 of some of the best darts on the field at our disposal, thanks to Red, our amazing dart smith.

+ Gorgeous weather all day.

+ Miguel, Lucian, and the silly string incident

+ Leaving the war feeling like I had proven myself.

+/- Missing out on Carpe to play Gunslinger and TDM

+/- Staying super late to pick up darts. We ended up getting at least 70% of our darts back, but I didn't get to say goodbye to everyone

- No pistol rounds

- No Civil War (North vs South) or duels

- Not as many rounds or as high attendance as I had hoped for

- NEVER BOUGHT MY TICKET

Postwar:
Brunch with Groove and Zaxbys, downtown shenanigans, and exploring the Jersey shore with the SE crew.

All in all, easily one of my favorite wars I've ever attended. Thank you so much to Langley for putting in the work and running the war.

I don't think I could have asked for a better weekend, nor a better group of people to spend it with.
It's safe to say the Southeast definitely brought the heat; hopefully we will do so again next year.

I have a good amount of 3rd-person footage, as well as some sweet GoPro footage from Drac and EOC. I'm making a war video; if anyone else has footage they'd like to share, please feel free to contact me! I'd love to have as much to work with as possible.

Deadshooter711, thank you for those awesome pics! I remember talking to you while we were documenting the rounds; I had no idea you had an account.
Looking forward to seeing Zorn's as well.

(Will edit in more highlights as I remember them)

...I'm still so happy! :D
