Hi,
I came across this video today and I was curious to see what the NIC thought of it. With simple modifications to his design we might be able to save money on buying expensive springs like the ones from McMaster.

This method is cool but I see a few problems with it where the NIC is concerned. Winding your own springs is not impossible, but requires a good amount of work, and the end result will likely be far from perfect. The use of McMaster and other supply stores allows for a baseline for performance for spring blasters. Plus, as stated in the video, springs have a particular metallurgy, and I trust a place that makes springs for a living more than my own shop made ones to sustain their spring constant longer.

It could still be useful for extremely specialized applications such as extended vortex mags where a reactor spring is needed. Reactors are getting harder to find, so this could be nice.

End overly specific, insignificant, single example.

I pick up two every time I go to a thrift store. If you want them then I could sell them for a buck each.

After all, it was just a suggestion. I guess I will try this soon and update this thread about the end result.
