I have no prior experience buying foam backer rod, And I don't even know if this Foam Backer Rod is any good for it's price, or it will even fit in CPVC or what.
Help will be most appreciated.

The price is about what I would expect you would pay in the store for frost king. 1/2" should be approximate nerf dart size, but there's enough variance between brands, and even between rolls or foam from the same roll that it's hard to anticipate what the best barrel material would be for it. It's cheap enough that you could buy some and find out if it's any good. In the long run you will probably want to buy bulk, but if you've never made darts before you may as well buy a small batch.
