Hi guys, I have recently been modding the (n-strike) spectre rev-5. I have done as many of the performance mods as possible without rebarreling or spring replacement...but the time has come and I don't want to risk the internals to a spring mod. So I am left with the rebarreling...but there is no how to guide for this (in Nerfhaven or Google), without using a drill press. So do I go in with a Dremel and sand as far as my can reach into the separated spectre turret at each end of the barrel,then just hammer in the brass? Also should I use 9/16 brass or 17/32 brass? I ask as one is extremely snug and am afraid that the air pressure from the blaster will not be sufficient, resulting in no exit of the stock dart from the turret. Is 9/16 brass the way to go and is my purposed method for rebarreling correct?

Did 9/16 brass re-barrel on one of the barrels but range dropped, like by half in the barrel I redid. Has this happened to you guys; what can I do to get the results I want?

When I did mine I wrapped a piece of sand paper around a wooden dowel and spun it around in the bore for a while till it got big enough (Giggity).

Its a process and it will take a while just have patience. Its totally worth it.

If you're using stock darts with no spring replacement, 9/16 brass would be the way to go. You could also nest a centimeter or so of 17/32ths at the bottom of the 9/16ths so it would build some pressure.

I modified one a while back before I sold it. I loved that pistol. I never rebarreled it, but did do evrything else to it. I used a very strong spring for a replacment and it held up really well. Even without barrel replacement it hit great ranges and stung a bit. I knew it could have used a tighter barrel fit but never got around to it. With that said, i'd suggest 17/32nds brass barrels and a spring upgrade.

How tight is the dart fit in that barrel? If its significantly looser then the stock barrel than its no good. Personally 17/32nds has had a good springer fit for my darts. But different areas and times of year make darts swell or contract and barrel fits differ.

Underscore, Sadly the barrel is stuck in place at this time. Also when I tried to correct this (thinking was barrel fit) I nested 17/32 brass in the 9/16 and ranged dropped even more. Is it possible that that my air pressure is insufficient with only a stock spring; despite my seal improvements?

You need a stronger spring. You are not producing enough air volume to get the benefits of the rebarrel

What darts are you using? If you are trying to use stock whistlers or taggers you probably aren't going to be able to get the dart all the way to the bottom of the barrel which will create dead space behind the dart. Try streamlines or homemade darts.

The stock specter turret has what amounts to tightening rings in it. The very bottom of the barrel is tighter than the rest resulting in some really great ranges stock. If you can get your 17/32 brass back out try just putting in a 3/8 or so stub of it in the very end and see what happens.

The spectre is a revolver type blaster. Because of this, there is a gap between the rear of the barrel and the firing mechanisms, i.e. the plungertube. The air coming out of the plungertube will ALWAYS take the path of least resistance. So when you have a very tight dart fit in your barrel, the air rushes out of the gap instead. If this was a nightfinder (or whatever nitefinder clone they're putting out these days,) a tighter barrel fit would probably be OK. But because of this barrel gap, just be wary of using barrels that are too tight.
