Whatever blasters they own. All of the Elite blasters are very simple and easy to understand. If someone owns multiple blasters, say a Firestrike and a Retaliator, you could show him how to modify the simpler blaster (Firestrike) first.Basically, what would be a good blaster to tutorial them on and any other advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
As far as the community leaders not allowing modified blasters at their wars, just host your own wars at some large area, where modified blasters have an easily seen advantage. Then people will want to modify their blasters so that they can gain the upper hand. This is where modding originated—someone modified his blaster to shoot harder so he could have an advantage. Once the others began to be demolished by this person at wars, they modified their own blasters out of necessity. It was the same way with homemades. Once one person uses a homemade, everyone else has to use them to keep up. It's all escalation. (This is a somewhat simplified explanation, but I'm sure you get the point.)

Thank you, your logic is very sound. The community is about 10 strong and me and 2 other guys essiently moderate it, I think I will stage a larger than regular scale battle for them to showcase the mods. The only problem is that we all have very different blasters so I may just have to destroy them a couple of times to convince them..... Thanks againWhatever blasters they own. in all seriousness, stock elite guns aren't to shabby, but if they are concerned about safety just let them examine your blaster. If its getting owned they're worried about, send them a link to the mod reference guide. if they still have problem, theyre either lazy, stubborn, or related to vincent van goh.
If your really crafty you could modify the members of your groups blasters for money! good luck mate.

Don't worry so much about what other people will allow. Throw your own wars and kick your friends' asses until they all want one.

You still have fun playing right? Keep playing.
If you enjoy modding, keep modding. The two don't have to be directly related.

I suggest looking up range tests for each, then deciding.I must then ask which is more powerful, elite or vortex? I saw a rather lengthy article on this, but it was still undecided? (I would be considering the pyragon vs the rampage, for small to medium indoor wars)

Ranges aside, it's easier to see a disc approaching and dodge it than a dart. It has a much bigger surface area from the targets perspective.
Discs are also heavily affected by wind, and can easily be blown way off course.
Discs cost about twice as much as a dart, which could hinder your load out. Spare vortex clips may also be hard to find.
Vortex blasters are also much more complex mechanically. I was tearing apart a praxis yesterday looking for the single failure that was keeping it from firing. What a headache!
If it's an indoor war, it might be worth considering vortex blasters - especially if ricochet hits count. Great fun bouncing a disc down a tight hallway and around a corner to nail someone while they're reloading. No wind, closer quarters (shorter ranges/harder to pay dart ninja - I'd give the advantage to vortex blasters. Discs impact with a bit more of a "thump" too, which is never a bad thing.

Find some Nitefinders or something close to them. Pop out the AR in front of them, show them the difference in range from just that, and then tell them to grow the fuck up. That, or convince the less timid members of your community to bail on that community and start your own based around no-college-cry-baby-bullshit style nerfing.
yeah I'm that guy who made that cool thing with the cool paint.
