Contests
Thanks to everyone who submitted entries to the New Releases Mod Contest. We'll be taking a look at the entries over the next few days and there will be a poll up by the end of the week where you can vote on your favorite mod. The member poll will count as one 'Judge' in the final tally. In the mean time, you can browse all of the new modification writeups in the Contest submission thread.
Stay tuned for the Home Town Nerf Host contest, to be officially announced some time in mid-June.

Here's what you missed if you haven't been around for the last few months.
- Mods - New user 0reo proposes the Best Upgrade Motor for Stryfe after extensive testing
- Darts & Barrels - Kronos Nerf Mods started working on an improved 3D printed wye with a gentler dart slope back in February. After several updates, you can now download and print one yourself.
- Homemades - NerfHaven Contributor Ryan201821 "Ryan McNumbers" posted yet another homemade design with detailed plans, the ESTL is an Extension Spring/Latex Tubing blaster with several optionally 3D printed parts.
- New Sticky - The 3D printing craze has led to a 3D Parts Directory. If you own a 3D printer or have access to a hackerspace, keep your eye on that thread for updates.
- Darts & Barrels - For those who don't have access to a 3D printer, NH Moderator Zorn posted his Optimal Wye design, which fires silicone domes and other high-friction tips.
- Stock Blaster News - OG NerfHaven Admin One Man Clan brought this 'Tek Recon' kickstarter campaign to our attention. It's a non-nerf blaster toy which mounts to your phone for some kind of augmented reality game. We're discussing it here.
- Homemades - Canadian Modder Makeitgo hits us with the Multiple Orgasm: another pump action homemade he McGuyver'ed from parts that are available in the Frozen North, far beyond the reach of McMaster-Carr. User Andtheherois followed it up with an Americanized version, the Oltiple Moregasm. Maybe now these guys can find time to put some spaces in their usernames.
- Stryfe Mods - With the Stryfe hitting it's stride in 2013, two of our most-viewed threads were Azreal's Non-overvolted Stryfe modification, which offers a unique alternative to the typical 9v mod, and Coop's Strayven, wherein he puts a thing in another thing and glues them both to a thing, in true Youtube fashion.
- Best of the Worst - Often the most viewed and most replied threads are some of the worst. These last few months were no different. EAT Giveaway - Duke Wintermaul asks NH members to dance for his amusement, and--perhaps unsurprisingly--they do! MyLastDart makes increasingly outrageous claims about secret information he's obtained from Hasbro, all with just a grain of truth. NerfHaven members collectively loose their shit.
- NH Mod Team Favorite - Community Tribal Council. Why did we ever stop doing these?
Nerf Facts
- Wind tunnel tests with circular cylinders show that darts 1.75 to 3 times as long as their diameter have the least drag. You can read more about this phenomenon on my nerfers.com blog. -Doom aka btrettel
- The retail price of a Nerf Crossbow when adjusted for inflation is approximately $39.21 -Langley
- Baby porcupines are known as porcupettes and are born with soft quills, which get hard within hours. -TED

With the new Rebelle line of toys coming and the Tek Recon kickstarter campaign, we're going to be seeing a lot of nerf guns with phones attached to them. Do you think smart phones have a place at NIC wars? Will we be using QR codes or NFC tags instead of pvc and bandannas for our flags?
Next Month...
For next month's Front Page Update, we would like to see action shots from your nerf wars. I'll mail a free NerfStrong bracelet to the best one I get. You can PM them to me or send them to my username @nerfhaven.com with the subject 'Action Shot'. Submissions may or may not be used in next month's update.
Thank you for reading. Here is your moment of zen.

If nothing else, it will make it easier to make gun-cam recordings. I'm not sure how viable either will be in an outdoor war, so it might not get use.
I'm sort of scratching my head trying to come up with a way we could integrate smartphones into a gametype. QR codes might be a neat trick for some sort of Assault/territories gametype (e.g., get close enough to a target to scan it's QR code as "proof of capture"). These phones also have accelerometers built in, and you could maybe use that to monitor shots fired or stuff like that.
