Home Hardware is where I get all my FBR. They have 1/2" and 5/8", and sometimes even 3/4". Tim-Br Mart should also stock stuff like that.

Another question -- I've noticed a really tight fit between my 5/8" FBR and 1/2" SCH 40 PVC, maybe even too tight. Should I blow-dry the FBR to shrink it a little, or any other suggestions?

For wieghts ive been useing 2-3 4.5mm copperhead steel bb's and I was wondering if this is enough weight. Many times they seem to light and float were ever when firing from all my guns. I've tried lengthening and shortening my barrel and none is helping. Some help please.

I think it makes it hug the barrel more. However, when I do it, it makes my darts fishtail.

Nice video. Definitely going to help me. Did you close the fishing weight just by pushing it? Or did you heat it up?

Also, my 3/0 fishing weights have little things coming off the bottom, did yours have those too?

So, what do you guys think of using shotgun buckshot as weights? I'm going to try using .410 Remington.

Grenado and MCflurry: I burn a hole in the bottom of the dart to act as a skirt. When air hits the skirt the skirt expands to hug the barrel better, allowing as little air as possible to escape around the dart.

Reitate: I close the gaps with multi-tool pliers. I am assuming you are talking about the wings that you can push on to open the weight back up again. Try and by the weights that dont have those wings. Those wings are only good for putting your dart off balance or tearing skin if it shoots out of the dome.

Grenado: I have no clue the size or weight of buckshots. Why dont you try it out and let us know.

Oh, I got the wrong weights... Are they called something different? Or do I just have to look for packs with the ones without the wings?
I guess it's a good thing I only got 2 packs...

OK, I have tried out the buckshots, Sizes 2 and 6. Size 6 sucked. Horribly. It was far too small and light, and I had to put two in to get decent ranges, and then, of course, that screwed the accuracy to pieces. Size 2 was much better. It was about 3 times larger than the Size 6 shots, and about the same size as a BB. It was much more consistent, and had good range, and if you're buying in quantity, this is a cheaper alternative then buying BBs or 3/O fishing weights. Note- these were with lead shot, not steel. I will have ranges and pics soon, and maybe a video or two. I'm going to have steel shot stuff soon as well.

I have found that the FBR supplier (home depot) I had been using, recently chnaged their FBR slightly. It is now too large too work in many of my barrels. I was wondering if, rather than re-modding all my guns, or even finding a new supplier, if there's a process to stretch the FBR some in the creation process?

I want something preferably easier and more accurate than stretching each dart individually. I thought I had seen something like this before, but maybe not.

If there is no such method, I will set out finding a new FBR source, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask here.

Yeah, cut a some lengths of 4-5' of the foam, wrap duct tape on each end, then hang it from something with a weight attached to the bottom to stretch it out. Leave it there for a couple weeks and your foam will be straight and thinner.

I'm kind of grasping at straws, but is there any more short term method? Even if it isn't as permanent? I have a big war saturday, and it would be great to be able to use my brassed LS.

You might be able to do that, but instead of waiting that long, get a blowdryer, set it on high, and blowdry the foam while it's stretching. That might cause it to stretch out and straighten faster. Thought I'm not completely sure if it'll work or not.

I got a question. Does anyone know if the Frost King brand FBR(the blackish- darkish grey, also found at home depot) Fits in 9/16 brass? If so, is it a tight fit or a loose fit.

I used to use Frost King foam. But, unfortunatly, they are extremely unreliable on sizes. The first batch of foam I got (that was a long time ago) was a not-too-dark-or-too-light shade of gray and was pretty thin, and would have a very loose fit in 9/16" brass. The 2nd batch was a dark gray and seemed like it had little bubbles all through it, looking much less dense than the first batch. It was also quite a bit thicker, making a tight fit in 9/16" brass. And my most recent and final batch of Frost King fbr, was a much lighter gray, and was very tight in 9/16" brass.

Test fit your foam before you buy any brass.

I would, but I can't find Brass at my local hobby shop, so I'm going to buy it online from their online store

Try to find something to test your FBR with. Even a stock gun, and the measure the barrel diameter. Then, depending on the fit of the FBR, adjust your brass dimensions to what you hope is accurate.

Well, The Frost King brand FBR is a VERY VERY tight fit. I have to twist 'em jsut to get it 3/4 of the way in the barrel(It's coupler(sp?) modded.

What's the barrel material your using? And you said your foam is a dark gray color? Does it look like it has little air pocket-like things all through it?
