I felt its little too strict, but its not my site and C can run it how he likes. I say if you cant handle the rules, their ARE other sites. The rules are pretty senceable(sp?) though.

It's fine. Besides, everything on there is common sense. It allows everyone to read a post and know what the hell their talking about. Who really uses the whole AIM-style writing on AIM anyway? I don't, neither do my friends.

I think anyone who types AIM style for an extended period of time should be banned or deleted.

"Use capitalization and punctuation correctly"

I don't know about someone who replies to a code of conduct post by violating one of the rules.

I think that the code is right on. C, you always give people a chance and don’t ban them right away, you give them a shot and I like that. If a user reads the code and then decides to ignore it then the problem is with them and not with the code. Posting at NerfHaven is a privilege granted on the condition that the code is followed, that much is pretty clear.

I think the code is good. The only real problem might be that people when they first post are sometimes killed by 5 or 6 different people before they even have a chance to respond. Worse, when people do it, they go full throttle, rather than saying "Please use proper English, thanks," you'll get "Dude, you need to learn to type, didn't you read the Code? Damn." Personally, unless someone is explaining a concept, I would rather something be short and sweet rather than this long drawn out affair vindicating himself before he even gets a response, ie., "anyone have good ideas to get some old guns?" Rather than, "Can anyone give me some good ideas to find some good old guns? I have already tried searching all around my area. I also tried Google, Yahoo, yard sales, antique stores, all the major area toy stores, friends, Amazon and EBay, etc. I also already tried searching through all the forums here, on NHQ, NC, and reading NO. Finally, I have also tried posting on other sites. Can anyone please help?" See what I mean? I mean, a message board is meant to allow easy communication, and for a board like this, help for rookies, not a referal service where you get waxed if you post a general question. I've seen plenty of posts where someone asked something that someone else had and not get flamed. Its really up to the admins to monitor the board, not every user (this is part of the reason I only have 10 or so posts, not 30 or 40). Finally, I realize there are definitely exceptions, and that the majority of users don't do the afforementioned, but its happened often enough for me to notice. Anywho, that just my personal opinion (not to sound harsh or whatnot).

I voted that the code of conduct was just fine. It really is just common sense. Not to mention most people don't get deleted immediatly, they get warned a couple of times, and then normally they get used to it. There's really no reason to change it.

Case in point.

If we changed it, we'd have plenty more where these came from.

<edit>

The code of conduct freaking sucks. ahahah kick me off the board it'd be great fun. <later> :P  :w00t:

Shut the FUCK up, cock jockey.
yomullensup is about 5 times better than you. Hell, .:BlueIce:. probably is too. And that's not saying much in your favor. </edit>

I also agree that the Code Of Conduct is fine. The first post I posted was in AIM form and I'm sorry. I'm just so used to it, it has become my way of typing.

The code of conduct is in place in order to keep chaos from invading the boards. By keeping everyone in order to follow a set of guidelines, NH has succeeded in being a successful forum, where mostly relevant posts are made. If you don't like the rules, please leave. Also, do NOT tempt Cx to ban you, because it won't be pretty. Ice, at least yomullensup is trying to demonstrate that he's at least not trying to anger everyone else here, unlike our friend here; maybe another chance is in line? Everyone deserves a second chance; with some exceptions of course.

You know what? My first post was flamed by Cx. I'm happy it was, because I changed my ways, fast. Typical of me, I am going to list just a few reasons why the Code of Conduct is excellent AS IS.
1) For all of you who will use a computer when you work (or already do), using this site's forums is like having your typing skills (as far as grammer, spelling, etc.)continually improved. It's almost a way of making you "grow up."

2) The site looks more well-organized when most people type with correct grammer, and don't speak like idiots.

3) "Back in the day," when I used to be a gaming freak(OK, I still am), I used to build levels and that kind of stuff. When I set my rules, people followed them, or that was the end. Cx is awesome, and this is his site. Guess what that means? We follow his Code. Don't piss him off (*cough*flinch*cough*) on purpose, and if you do it by accident (that would be me), then quickly fix your mistakes.

I could think of a dozen more reasons, but right now I'm doing a biology paper...

However, it really begins to annoy me that every time I open up a post by a new member, a boat load of "not-so-new" members start ripping on him or her for grammer and other things. If I wanted to tell them to shape up, I'd answer his or her question, and mention briefly to read the Code of Conduct. If the member purposely continues to be an idiot, then begin flaming him/her.

P.S. By the way, what is .:BlueIce:.?

I've never run into any problems, as I am an English major and grammar jerk. I think Cxwq and I are cool, right? I mean, at least, I know he's cool... I'm just a jerk gloating about how I never ran into any problems with my manner of posting here. To get to the point though, search for the blue ice thread if you don't know about it. Quite amusing.

Just as a question, why is the "Null vote" button larger than the "Vote" button?

I voted for: it's good. "Ban stupidity"? That's just plain stupid. A lot of people come on these boards because many other forums allow AIM slang. Banning them because of their ignorance is unfair.

I say: if they make a dumb post, warn them. If they continue to do it, like our pal Flinch, you should be banned.

That stuff just makes my day... Anyways,

See, the problem is that...look at all of the chances we've given this mullet guy. And he still doesn't learn. How many chances can you give somebody? How many posts does he have that he doesn't make any sense and hasn't made any effort to improve? This would be a nice case for "Ban Stupidity Outright."
