Alrightythen. Jappo and Nello, get your possy together and try to get me an estimate number of guests. Those two guys I brought along last time (Turtle, Steel Soul) are now getting into Nerf quite a bit. Turtle got his hands on a PETG AT3K that kicks some serious ass. I got a Brass Max Shot... anything new with you guys?
Zero: Please note that you (and your friends, pending on thier sanity) will be able to use and borrow any and all of my guns for VANS, as you so graciously gave most of your stuff away.
Also, one the first page of this thread I have a post regarding headcount. If you are interested to see who is comming/not comming/unconfirmed just look at it. I update it constantly.
To celebrate 1 month of happy after-VANS, the pictures should be up soon. No need to remind Cx, as he probably handles alot of stuff around here.
Clan names: VN (Vancouver Nerf)?
I'm still trying to convince my Dad to let me give all that info to Web1000 so I can sign up.

Clan name? What about WCNW? Western Canadian Nerf Warriors, or Just WCN, Western Canada Nerf?If I make the site, what should it be called? Clan name? Anyone?
Or it could be WCNE... Worst Canadian Nerfers Ever!
Really... if you can't see the joke in that, wow.
Anyways, Jappo, what tarnished image of Canada?

I will be there now that my exams are the week before. And no, I have not got any new guns or anything, I'm not sure about Nello or anyone else. I will try and convince everyone else that was there last time to come.

Mike: You pulled your God of Mod at Sears on those Max Shots yet?
I pulled (what I believe is) my first God of Mod today. A local hobby shop (Blue Mountain) sells K&S 9/16 brass. It only carries 3 feet at a time. My first time in, I bought the last foot left. Between Turtle and Steel Soul, we need atleast 10 feet. The hobby store carries, and buys, 3 feet boxes at a time. I had to special order 3 boxes and have encouraged them to keep 2 feet in stock at all time in case of a Nerf emergency. The owner of the store is actually very interested in the whole Nerf modding thing, and has asked me to bring my brass Max Shot and show it to him.
Felt like sharing that with you guys... I dunno....
Anyways, the war is looking good. Look at the first page for a current headcout. Looks like we are pushing 15... which is great for only our second war. I have been trying to get as many people interested in Nerf as possible, and so far my 2 guests at last VANS have become quite the little Nerfers themselves. Heh.
By the way, I just got a NIB AT2K. Pretty, except the $20 price tag. Ew...

I'm comming out from Coquitlam, so it's definitely out of my way. If someone else can't, I will try, but please don't rely on me. Sorry about the Raiden/Richard thing, I have an email from you under Richard and no account name, and I have seen posts from Raiden. Your taking the ferry across? Expensive for one day of fun... your choice, though. You will get some honourable mention if you make it from the Island.
Please keep me posted as to your attendance to VANS.
Alright... time to get down to it. Please note I copied and pasted (then changed some of it) from MMNO Newsletter. Thanks MMNO guys, if you got a problem with me using it as a basis, let me know.
Here's the headcount:
Confirmed - 10+
Hunter
Turtle
~~steelsoul~~
Zero (+3?)
Cadmond
Jappo (+?)
Nello (+?)
Lord Dis
Unconfirmed
Waspy
Gaebo
Fire_brian Burke
Stefan (No, maybe another time...)
Raiden (" ")

Vancouver Areal Nerf Out Official Notice:
Okay people, this is the official newsletter for the ‘Vancouver Area Nerf Out’. VANS.
Now, I would like to outline a few key concerns I have about the war. These will be divided into their respective categories: Apparel, Safety, Time, Location, Games, and finally, everything else that doesn’t fit in the above categories.
Apparel
For a Nerf war, you will generally want to be dressed in something very comfortable, and easy to move in. You will be dodging darts, running around, and it will be a warm (probably) day. Suitable apparel is anything you are comfortable wearing. There are laws, however, against certain choices of attire… such as not wearing pants in a public area. I shall hope we all show up ‘dressed to kill’, which is a double entandre.
Bring a backpack for all of your guns and parts, darts, and accessories. When and if we go out for lunch, you don’t want to be seen with a gun… plus, why carry it around?
Safety
You will be shooting projectiles at people, and having them to you. Safety is number one, and I will MAKE SURE that everyone is protected. The biggest factor is eye protection, and it will be REQUIRED at this war. Eye protection is goggles, glasses, shades, anything. I will be sporting some rubber science goggles, unbreakable by these darts.
You will also most likely need clothes that will soften the impact of darts. We do however need to be able to feel the hits so that there is no arguing over if you were shot or not.
Gloves are also something to consider, nothing like white knuckles after getting hit multiple times in the hand. Gloves are also good for crawling and such, if you use those tactics.
Time
We have our war date set for June 19th, 2004. We have set the start date at 10:00 am, and the war will rage until about 4:00 or 5:00. We find this to be a suitable time frame, so that when you leave it isn’t dark, and your parents will be able to get your home for dinner. The tentative ending date if due to past experience. The last VANS was set to end at 3:00 and we went until 4:00. We will judge it when we are there. Cell phones will be on hand to inform your parents of the time to pick you up.
Location
The location is Carisbrooke Park in North Vancouver. Very nice open and forested areas. The area should be clear, there may be a few people walking dogs and such.
(NOTE: If you need maps to this area, please feel free to ask)
Looks like we will have some nice sunny weather. Remember, if it is pouring rain, VANS is cancelled.
The location has many characteristics that we can use to our advantage. It is a large park, big hills, trenchs, and decent cover. Please note, I will be bringing some big industrial size boxes for portable cover, base raid, ect.
There is a plaza with places to eat not far from the location, walking distance (10 minutes). There are larger establishments within driving distance from our warring area as well. Washrooms shall be bushes, some of the local Nerfers may let you use thier facilites, but that is totally up to them.
Games
We haven’t really figured this out yet, we think that the games will be decided at the time. I would like to try a lot of rule sets and games to get the most out of this experience. Bring your ideas with you, and don’t be afraid to share your thoughts.
Our main game types would be CTF (Capture the Flag), Assault (one team defends and objective, another team tries to complete it), and just a Team Death Match, and Gauntlet sort of thing.
Everything Else
Bring a lunch if you can. This will make it easier on us as a group. Bring friends. Have fun. Laugh more than you cry. Goof around, but don’t be stupid. Remember safety comes first, and always others before you. Be polite and mature, and don’t get into stupid arguments. Try your best to not get hurt, and have as much fun as possible. Talk your parents into watching a round of Nerf so they know what we are doing. Bring all of your guns for trading/selling/buying/showing off. Also, bring some money if you want to buy guns or lunch.
I hope this answers all of your questions. If not, e-mail Hunter(nerfvancouver@hotmail.com) or post questions here.

If you take the Sea Bus across you can take a Bus straight up lonsdale. I'm not sure of the exact number but if you see a bus that says "Upper Lonsdale" ask the driver if it goes to Carisbroke park, and if it does ask him if he could tell you when to get off.firstly, to clear one thing up, Raiden and Richard Vining are the same person, IE me. I think I can probably make it up for this one although I will hae to check my exam schedule and my work schedule, also is there anyone who would be able to pick me up from downtown Vancouver or the fery terminal if I were to bus across, otherwise I could drive but with gas prices as they are and BC ferries prices as they have always been thats gonna be hella expensive.

~Complete and total snippage of Hunter's above Newsletter Post.~
Alright, I just wanted to say that I'm happy to share my things, when I'm asked. Next time just PM me, and I would be more than happy to let you use my material. Thank you for crediting me later on though. I just worked really hard on the letter, revising and such... so I'm protective of it. Sorry.
On a better note, I'm glad you found it good enough to use for your purposes.
Again, I'm sorry for sounding angry, but I'm sorta protective of what I work hard on.
I hope your war goes well, and I hope ours does too!

So wait, we're trading you for Cadmond? One would assume that one would be able to be present, but that may be the week one must travel even unto Washington to see one's insane relatives. One would have to confirm that with one's family. (pardon the odd tense, but one is feeling rather odd today)
...I demand a renegotiation!!

Zero: do you have enough weaponry for you and your 3 friends? (Still expecting 3, right?) Also, I PMed you about the website. Are you working on it (starting it up) now? Or do you want me to start it?
Us 3 Coquitlam boys just finished our first official dart making circle. I think we can supply all of our ammo and most of your needs for 1/2" micro Stefans.
I have a question about local hobby shops. If any of you have picked up brass at a local hobby shop, how much did they have in stock. Blue Mountain (the one I go to) only carries 3 feet at a time, and I constantly have to special order more. Is there a hobby shop around that carries 6+ feet at a time?
