A problem there is with the people who I bring. It is probably at least Foam and I. Rachel might not go, as she leaves for Italy the 27th. I'm hoping Andrew and another friend want to come, sooo. That's a maybe +3, which makes it 5, and if jarret were to clean his act up...

What is with Italy, anyway? He's actually just getting back from Italy on the 24th (if I remember correctly), so we'll see how that works.

It would probably be my little red car, so...yeah 5 people is only barely possible. It only fits 2 comfortably unless everyone else is roughly Frances-sized.

Semi-legit double post in the interest of getting things moving forward:

It seems like most people want to find someplace new, but unless someone has an idea I suggest we go with either Dormont or Roundhill (since Armstrong and Williamsburg got no votes).

Keep in mind that right now is a pretty popular time for grad parties. I can check if our usual place at Round Hill is open; Dormont is pretty large, so I think we'll be able to avoid people/innocent bystanders as necessary.

Please post with what you want to do.

Dormont's cool. I've never been to Roundhill and wouldn't mind trying it out. Either one of those parks would be cool with me, or any of the other ones for that matter.

Actually, yes you have.

On a related note: Our usual place at Roundhill is booked, as are all the other shelters in that park. However, there are several places without shelters where we could nerf. One place is right across the road from the usual shelter; I remember we played a fair bit of freeze tag there. The only thing is that there will be a party going on ~50yards away, and I can totally see lots of old women silently judging us.

The other places (at Roundhill) would involve a fair hike from the parking lot back through the woods into some large clearings (think Apoc/Deal, but less flat...but not as steep as, say, Williamsburg Park). These clearings don't have much in the way of tree cover in the midst of the field. Think something like the 3:25 mark of this video:


So, we could try Roundhill and probably moving around through the woods checking out various places...or we could just go with Dormont, or whatever.

This may end up being almost impossible for me to make. I'm chaperoning a trip to Sandcastle/Kennywood on Saturday, and my financial situation is becoming dire. Nerfmonkey, you can Gabe might have to come up this weekend and force me to go to the war.

Ok, I've got photos of another location which we'll use at some point, if not this war. I'll call and see if the shelter is booked tomorrow, but it's a huge park, and we could just move.


Staging area is a pavilion like we like. Alternatively, we can use our cars like we did for Allegheny West

Yes Ma'am, that's a wooden park. A bigger one than Dormont has. Can't say whether or not it'll be full on a Sunday morning, but I imagine if we used it first thing, we'd be able to get some time in. Plus, it's seriously like 100' from that grove.

Not pictured is the area across the road from the park, which is a bit more open, with smaller trees, and a tunnel that runs under the road.


We need to decide on which park to use by like Friday at the very latest, and that's pushing it. Text me your decision so I know ASAP.


Edit: I can vouch that this playground is some serious shit. I've played drunk it-tag here before in the dark of night on Halloween.It was bomb. I got so jacked up.

Totally cool as hell "war".

For any of you brave and experimental nerfers out there, you need to get on our level.
What we do is combine another obscurist hobby with nerf for exponentially better enjoyment.
For us, the addition is War Re-enactment. We all go out, and reenact great nerf wars past.
Today was 'Geddon 4. Half of us don't even bring darts, since the reenacting is all theatrical.

I'd say today was pretty awesome. Mostly everyone stayed in character, and overall, the
historical perspective gained by revisiting the brutalities that made this hobby what it
is cannot be measured. We are all on another plane of existence tonight.

So uh, I'm gonna make a couple darts next time or something. I still had a great time though. Fixing two blasters at the war was pretty legit. I just tried to pack way too many exhausting activities into one weekend.
