I have not posted here in a long time ( to many peoples delight), but I felt like sharing. This is nothing outstanding, just a simple, effective mod to a VERY fun blaster. There is an EE mod in the NH mod directory, but I didnt think it was all that descriptive.

So here we go. I have to say I am extremely pleased with this thing! Its no secret that I love clip-loading blasters.....AND vintage blasters----this thing is BOTH! WIN! Before I go any further, big thanks to BrokenSVT for hooking me up with this thing.

Now, to work!

Our stock blaster.....

Open her up.....THE SCREWS IN THIS SHELL SUCK!!
Posted Image

They are a funky triangle shape, instead of phillips or flathead. Remove any way you can---then throw them away!

Our stock internals:Posted Image

Plunger assembly and plungerTube:

Posted Image

seperate the parts of the assembly, taking note of their placement before removing.

Posted Image

Let's add so power. I had an old EAB spring sitting around ( :D )--which happened to be the same diameter as the EE's stock spring, and slightly stronger. Unfortunately, the EAB spring is about two coils longer--so I simply cut the EAB spring to the same length as the EE's stock spring.

Posted Image

Now, for our plunger seal. Wrap the stock rubber plungerHead with some E-tape, and test fit in your PT. If the seal is good fine. If not, adjust with either more, or less tape.

Posted Image

Lets continue with the Plunger rod. See that pointy tip? Cut it off! Your plunger rod will have more travel now!

Posted Image

Add some craft foam to the top of your now shortened plunger rod, to protect your internals.

Our PlungerTube:

Posted Image

Cut that shit out of the middle. Now drill the hole larger for better air flow. I used a 17/64 drill bit....the max I could go before making the walls too thin.

Posted Image

Add a craft foam ring to the tip to create a better seal between the PT and the ammo clip.

Posted Image

Swap out your catch spring to finish up your internals.

Posted Image

Ammo clips:

Tiny air holes in stock form.......

Posted Image

Change that, using the same drill bit you used to enlarge the outlet hole in the PT.

Posted Image

Cut five 3" cpvc barrels. Wrap each in E-tape and glue into your clips.

Posted Image

Find yourself some replacement screws. I used extra LS screws I had---they worked perfectly. Put your blaster back together and enjoy! This puppy fires hard, and the ROF is WIN! Get yourself some extra clips and go take some names!

Pretty neat mod for an old blaster. I've got one of these with a rotation issue, so I might try something with it eventually. Any chance if you know if the plunger tube is the same as a sawtooth? The clips are, so just curious.

Not sure to be honest, but I can say the EE PT is almost identical to a Sneakshot, or NF.

I have a Sawtooth and I don't know what the size comparison is between the two but the plunger assembly looks to be identical. If I had to bet I'd say they were the same because as we know, Nerf likes to save $$$ when it comes to designing plunger tubes.

Looks pretty cool. I just had a question about the spring length. If you're cutting that tip off the plunger to give it more travel, wouldn't the spring need to be a bit longer then stock to take advantage of it?

Not in my opinion. The EAB spring is a pretty decent increase in power---and I guess the EAB spring ended up just a tad longer, maybe 1 coil. I cut exactly 2 coils off of it, and it was pretty much the same length as the stock EE spring. Sorry for the unclear explanation, I will have to edit that in.

If 3 inches of barrel is optimum for you then this won't mean anything, but you can cut the front part off the eel to make room for longer barrels. The only thing I don't like is the electrical tape seal but you can't really get around that on these old seals I guess. Awesome to see some actual mods instead of builds, thanks for taking the time to share this write-up with us.

The 3" barrels seem to work well, and although 4" may yeild a few feet more in terms of range---I gladly accept less range to keep the eye-raping 90's aestetics! I love how cheesy the old blasters are. I even kept the strobe on this thing, which still works perfectly.

The plunger apparatus in an Electric Eel is in fact identical to that of a Sawtooth. The clips are also interchangeable.

IIRC, those are Sawtooth clips you got with it. I didn't CPVC the one clip, BTW. I bought it that way. I'd have been a lot more deliberate in the way it's assembled had I done it :D

LOL...taking one for the team, eh? Healthy NF ranges, like 70-75'. Although ranges are pretty much the same,--this things ROF easily trumps a NF. That, plus having more loaded clips at the ready makes this old ass blaster still war capable.

Does the plunger tube of this blaster get narrower towards the front like most early blasters? In my experience, using electrical tape on that style of plunger head hurts ranges. What has worked out better for me is turning the "cup" inside out and reinserting it into the plunger tube. I leave it for an hour or two, and when you take it out again, the seal should be much more flared outwards on the edges, resulting in a better seal. Then I fill the entire plunger head with hot glue to help it maintain that shape, leaving maybe a millimeter of space so that there is still a bit of pliancy in the seal.

I can see the ability of a replacement of the PT with 1" PETG, or something that is an inch or two longer. I mean, there is a lot of space behind that PT.

Haha. Yeah we like to take turns around here everyone takes his licks and we move on. Today was just my day.

Thats pretty wicked though although I'm kinda inclined to agree with Rover. I'm not the biggest fan of etape seals but hell if it works it works and you can't argue with that ROF its enough to really surprise someone especially with the way that thing looks no one would expect that.

The E-tape seal was in no way meant to be permanent. A replacement PT and Plungerhead are slated next for this thing. I will update when it is finished.

Sounds good. That was my next question. Since you seem to do most of your mods in stages I was wondering what was up next

I really like the sound of that! I'll be eagerly awaiting your updates.
*Edit: How is one supposed to hold this blaster? It looks like the "foregrip" area is too close to the pistol grip and the clips go where one's hand would naturally be most comfortable.
