I have to agree with split on the idea that RoF is more important then range so a modded raider should be ideal for this situation. But i disagree with using a maverick as a secondary, i would rather have a Ar removed nightfinder, seeing as those don't jam, i just find mavericks to be bulky and likely to jam.

In my squad, the Maverick and FireFly have always been the top choices. I know the general consensus here is that both of those suck, but they've served us very well due to their reliability. The NiteFinder is our usual sidearm. We've stayed away from the magazine fed blasters because they've failed us multiple times and we don't use anything big and bulky because we tend to run a lot. Some of us brought Vulcans to a fight and got destroyed because they spent too much time dicking around with the belts.

As far as melee weapons, our game rules state that pretty much anything made of socks is acceptable. We always carry at least four of the standard sock "grenades" and sometimes a sock balled up with a long string on the end for swinging. A few of us use homemade swords.

My melee weapon of choice is the blowgun sword. If your rules allow blowguns, it's one hell of a weapon to have. Few Nerf guns can match the range and accuracy of a blowgun in the hands of a skilled user. The blowgun sword basically consists of a tube shrouded in thick padding and then covered in a few socks with the ends cut off. You can shoot and hit with it. I'll never forgot the look on this one kid's face when I tagged him from about 50 feet the very first time I used it.

Here is a picture of one I made:

Normally I have an onboard dart carrier for faster reloading but I can't seem to find it.

Excellent blowgun sword idea, I just wish i'd.... wait, PETG! That's always had a really loose fit on my foam.... tehe, my friends will never see it coming this winter.....

Still, i can;t wait to get my hands on a shield set, so i can do my usual "chuck sword at zombie looking to charge" then riot shield my way to the sword.

Bro, definitely use a sword, they rule. And maybe a blowgun as well, they can be very deadly. And hurt, a lot.

I just want to point out on benefit of carrying as many weapons as I did. If an ally ran out of ammo or had a gun jam I have them covered.

This is why my entire team carries "standard magazine" (that means 6-round mags, drum mags, soon those long mags and mini drums too, not stuff like the Magstrike) fed Nerf blasters; if one of us runs out of ammo somehow, we can just hand off extra magazines. Still allows lots to fall back on, but without the added weight of having extra guns. Plus having lots of similar guns means that if we DO hand off a gun to someone, they basically know how to use it immediately. I've never used an RF20, not exactly sure how it works. Definitely wouldn't want to figure out on the battlefield.

I use a modded airsoft (yes airsoft) gun with a brass barrel and industrial springs it's called the defender, its shaped like a miniature smg(paint it pink), its battery operated so you only need load it no worries with priming. A hand op. turret could increase rof. it consistently gets 50-65 feet. It kills.

I can not express my disappointment in you. Yes, I use airsoft, but for HvZ where the zombies must use melee attacks? Hell no! Even modded to shoot darts? No! That's just plain stupid! That's just plain stupid, and looking at a lot of airsoft internals, the PT's aren't large enough to propel a dart very far, unless it's an uberly high powered rifle meant for picking people off at huge distances. For example, my m16 could propel a dart MAYBE 20 feet, since it's designed for very tiny projectiles, therefore it's only meant to make that very tiny projectile go the allotted distance.Seriously, most airsoft gun plunger tubes are maybe the size of a maverick or DTB tube.

Actually it depends on the gun. My guns are the high end ones. They have nf sized pt's and the springs are very very stiff. I get modded nf ranges without a barrel (I do not use it) so yeah if I re barreled it I would be getting singles titan ranges. Not to mention the fact that it looks exactly like a real gun.
Back on topic HvZ. I will be playing this next year at Mizzou and I was wondering how you stay safe doing day to day activities. Especially showering.

Edit: I guess I was not completely clear you should NOT use airsoft guns for nerfing activities. Especially when doing HvZ as it is generally played on a school campus.

Geshman thats awesome, you have a uber tacticool airsoft titan. And since when did a nf tube convert into a titan tank, even though ones a air gun and the others a springer? And to answer your question about staying safe doing day to day activities, only use your realistic converted nerf gun near cops, they will keep you protected.

@Busta and Cheez I was not condoning using an airsoft gun. I do not feel that I am a L33t loser (I wonder what the current filter for that is). I was more explaining the reasons it is a very bad idea to use one.
Also upon giving it a second look the springs are weaker and smaller than I remember and the pt's are smaller so yeah you would probably only get 80s-100s with it max.

But once again back on topic (because I really don't want this to turn into an argument of whether or not to use airsoft in nerf when most of us already know the answer is no) what do you do when going to the shower? Do you just take a loaded nerf gun with you into the shower?

Don't answer that. We will not be dispensing advice on taking showers. Why must every HvZ thread devolve into homosexual anecdotes?.....oh, right.

If you add ARs from an old gun, it doesn't hurt anymore than a night-finder.

Lets just drop it. No matter how hard the gun shoots. It is still made to look like the real gun. Please stop the airsoft discussion before this thread is closed, this is about HvZ not airsoft.

I would like to agree with death by cheez the Stampede will be excellent for HvZ. Not for hiding or concealing but for missions. As long as it gets decent range, it will be easy and quick to reload and will not require priming. I can just smell the hoards of dead zombies already.

After the airsoft related mess, the best I can suggest, as above, is a rapid-fire, but not RF20 type, gun. Unless you'll be picking off zombies from across the quad, an AR-removed and maybe straw modded (for reverse plunger) clip gun will work exquisitely. And as everyone else said, melee is a friend. With benefits.

Side note: That blowgun sword looks deadly and sneaky.

Melee can also be a great ranged weapon, just carry 2 of the small swords, and should need arise, throw one at a zombie and pull out the other. Though I really wish nerf would make a spear....

Well I don't like suggesting melee because some games don't allow them, and some games (like ours) only allow them after completing an "unlock" mission. If they are allowed, however, they certainly are useful. I have a small foam sword that I have attached to an old Recon sight. The end result is a bayonette I can put on the barrel of my Recon, and because it goes on the rail, I can put it on and remove it very easily.

As much as I prefer using Nerf blasters, balled-up socks (or marshmallows if that's how your school is playing) are always good to have in case of emergencies.

Marshmallows are great spray weapons. Grab a handful of them and toss them at a group of zombies and you'll get at least one of them, assuming they don't scatter to avoid the throw.
