Hello everyone. I've been thinking of picking a Pistolsplat or variant thereof and came upon the same question several times.

Is there a major difference in power between the paintball-shooting and chalk dart shooting versions of the Pistolsplat?

I've seen many people argue that they're the same, and I have heard people argue that they're different.
In advance, thank you for the help.

That's handy to know, I though it was just paintball version > chalk dart version.

Well, since it really is an "awareness" issue, I'll post what I know, and maybe others will add to the knowledge pool.

I have owned a "Pistol Splat" version in Black with silver paint and "Patriot" versions in red, with and without black paint, and those have had the strongest springs. I have owned several SupaSplats in blue (looks exactly like what Target is now selling) and Blizzard (from Tuesday Morning) and those have a middle-strength spring. I have never owned any chalkdust versions, but I have handled four or five and they definitely had an even weaker spring.

Other people have told me that some chalkdust ones have a stronger spring, but I don't know if that means medium or strong. There is also a spongeball version called Splash Attack (I've seen silver with green paint) and I've been told that it has the strong spring (currently a twin pack is $29.99 + $8.99 shipping via amazon).

I just bought a Wipeout chalk version (yellow/orange) on clearance at Walmart and I have a few of the BZ-800 Blizzard versions.
With them sitting here side by side I notice that you can pull the priming handle of the Wipeout a bit further than the Blizzard before the spring starts to compress so the spring could possibly be a little shorter. Feels like the Blizzard takes just a touch more pull to prime too.
That said, the Wipeout still shot a Dart Tag dart 45 feet right-out-of-the-box stock (haven't modded yet).

That's odd. Mine performed absolutely terribly out of the box, I'm talking like 5-10 feet. After simply drilling out the ARs and pulling the spring out of the plunger tube (wtf?), it got much more respectable ranges.

As far as that goes, I'm not really familiar with the pistolsplat variants but my wipeout was shit out of the box.

I own the Black and Silver version or Pistol Splat, and have modded my friends Red and Yellow PS from target, and that what I have found out is that when both Cpvc'ed the Black and silver paintball pistol easily out ranges the Red and yellow by a good 25 feet. Get the paintball edition and slap a coupler on it.

With the chalk darts mine was like that too. I'm talking about the Nerf darts with velcro on the tip.

I just picked up a stock pistol splat, and for fun, stuck a Stefan in the breech. I was amazed. 80+ feet. Stock. Insane.

And thats with a terrible dart/barrel fit. I slapped a cpvc coupler on my supasplat and its hitting insane ranges without any other mods done.

Your right. I was using darts that were loose in PETG for airguns, haha.
