I'm creating a Crystal Tri-Mav (awesome, I know), and I noticed something...







When did they change the design? The circular design looks more stable and smooth, therefore I assume the hex design is the new one...

Oh, huh, that's odd. The Nerf engineers that showed up to a Salem war said that they were legally unable to change the design of the maverick, because it sells so well.

if you would, please, check for another change. The engineers talked about how they wanted to change the Maverick's dart pegs to allow it to fire streamline darts, but they could not, because the design was under protection due to the millions upon millions sold. Would you mind checking the pegs?

Pegs seem the same.
And the idea that they cant change it because they've already sold some makes zero sense.
Manufactures change stuff all the time to make the end product cheaper.

Yea and shorter pegs, in theory, should take a bit less plastic. On a large scale.

The maverick is only protected because it's the most successful Nerf blaster ever made. It has sold more than any others, therefore, Hasbro took a "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach, and protected the design.

Really? The most sold? I guess the close to semi-auto and revolver idea seems attractive to the everyday person.

Stock nerfers love the maverick, especially for indoors. It's cheap, it's very portable, it can shoot up to six shots in rapid succession... there is very little to not like about the maverick for stock wars. Lately, my group at Stony Brook University has been favoring the furyfire, but guess what... that's just a bigger, more powerful maverick with a more comfortable cocking mechanism. However, I suspect the maverick will reign supreme as the choice of nerfers on a budget for a long, long time.

Well, some of the Advertisements were misleading. I initially thought the mavericks were semi-auto. I bought a Maverick when they first came out.

The Maverick appeals to not-so-serious nerfers because of psychology: "more barrels=good/Less cost=good".

The maverick sells because it is the only nerf gun that offers multiple shots and is under $20

Basically, "more bang for your buck".

I think that Hasbro should try the internal design change for a short period of time, and if it doesn't sell the same or more then discontinue the design. As long as Hasbro doesn't raise the price, or change the external design the consumer will be happy.

Also the vast majority of people who buy nerf guns are are under eight years old and leave the gun comepletely stock. So for most nerfers a maverick offers much the same results as a longshot. No kid with a screwdriver iss ever gonna figure out what low potential it has.

Both my wife's and my Maverick's shoot streamline's unmodified. This isn't normal?

Uhmm what? Any nerf gun can shoot any dart lol, Other than the CS line which can only shoot streamlines and stefans.

My unmodded Furyfire doesn't shoot streamlines, the pegs are like 3/4 inch to long.....

I thought that people were saying that their Mavs couldn't shoot streamlines... Did I misunderstand? I was just saying that ours do in case other people's don't.

My sons' Nightfinders don't shoot streamlines either. Pegs are too long.

With the Nitefinder not being able to shoot Steamlines, that isn't that big of a deal since the Nitefinder doesn't have any sort of thing that goes infront of the dart that would need for the dart to sit far back. That just helps for accuracy.

But removing the Peg from the gun is a good idea anyway, as it interferes with Air Flow, -Air Flow = Dart not go far. Although, with too much Air Flow, I noticed my gun shoots less then other's..... But its broken now so I guess it is not relevant.
