I've herd (or at least I think I have) that is you directly lube a neoprene washer bad things will happen. Is this true? How can I lube it?

Try using Silicone Grease lube. I read in the + bow thread that this has happened before and has been solved by not using the spray types of lube.

This question is actually answered in the pinned Lubricants thread. But the problem with the spray lubes is the propellants and any other petroleum distillates.
